New World Heroes and the Emerging Shadow

12/7/2025

Good evening, viewers, and welcome to Global News. Yesterday, two Level 3 Kaiju attacked the Hunter Academy headquarters. Reports say these were the same monsters behind last month’s Sydney and Tokyo attacks. Let’s dive into the details.

Every TV on Earth was tuned to the same show, covering the day’s chaos. The Hunter Academy base had footage of the incident, and after some top-level wrangling, they released the most flattering part—Jill Young pummeling the Kaiju for all to see. The embarrassing scenes of the other two Mechas getting trashed? Quietly snipped out.

"Never before have two Kaiju attacked one place at the same time, but this time, the monsters showed us—they’ve got brains." The expert guest, a balding middle-aged man, spoke confidently to the camera: "It happened right when the new batch of Hunter Academy recruits were running their Mecha tests. All five Fifth Generation Mechas lined up in the hangar, doors wide open, rookies fumbling with the controls, official pilots nowhere near their stations. It was, honestly, the riskiest moment imaginable."

The female anchor played along, putting on a tense expression: "So what happened next? Everyone’s dying to know!"

"Then humanity turned the tables—showcasing the sheer power of the Fifth Generation Mechas." The expert pointed at the screen, which showed Jill Young’s explosive one-versus-two showdown: "This is the Fifth Generation Mecha ‘Berserker.’ You can see for yourself—one Berserker went toe-to-toe with two Level 3 Kaiju. People have been terrified lately, these never-before-seen Level 3 monsters made everyone feel hopeless. But here’s the thing: humanity is getting stronger, and we’re evolving even faster than the Kaiju. Against Level 3 Kaiju, the Fifth Generation Mechas have an overwhelming edge."

The footage froze on Berserker sending a Giant Komodo Dragon Kaiju flying with a single punch.

The female anchor jumped in, "Word is, Berserker’s pilot had just hopped in—less than ten minutes in the cockpit—and didn’t use any combat add-ons or plugins. Are you saying they took down a Level 3 Kaiju with just the bare Mecha?"

"Absolutely."

"So, does this mean the Fifth Generation Mechas are way easier to handle now?"

"Nope, just the opposite. The Fifth Generation Mechas are actually tougher to operate—higher mental load, more demands on the pilot. But that’s proof that humanity is leveling up. Thanks to the Hunter Academy’s brand-new training program, this batch of ten pilots is top-notch—especially Berserker’s pilot."

The scene shifted, showing crowds of Academy members lining the path and cheering. Two figures in black armor walked side by side, every move full of attitude in slow motion. Jill Young’s captivating charm made hearts race—even munching on a round snack, she looked effortlessly cool. Even Jack, expressionless as ever, had a certain appeal thanks to TV editing.

Are these the pilots of Berserker?' The female anchor swooned, 'They’re just so cool! What are their names? They’re amazing!

That’s right, they’re Berserker’s pilots—codenamed 'The Queen' and 'The Teacher.' Both have excelled in every training session, with unprecedented scores in mental load and compatibility. They truly represent the new generation of pilots. The show continued with the hosts singing the praises of Jill and Jack, hyping them up to the max.

The entire broadcast was filled with optimism and energy, as if declaring to the world: panic is unnecessary—against humanity’s elite, all monsters are just paper tigers.

The show was broadcast in prime time with subtitles in multiple languages. In an instant, Jill, Jack, and the Berserker became famous.

'The Fifth Generation Mechas will form the Five Colors Squad,' the balding man said, beaming with pride. 'Berserker, Steed, Lance, Shield, and... formerly known as Gypsy One, now renamed Attendant—these five Mechas make up the strongest team against the monsters. As long as a Kaiju shows up on the radar, the Five Colors Squad will wipe them out!'

That day, many people cheered. In this storm-tossed world, everyone needs heroes—people who can protect them.

Los Angeles, USA. In a bar, a few Westerners sat together. Compared to the excited crowd nearby, these people looked grim and out of place. Watching the TV replay, one spoke up in a low voice: 'Who are those two? They weren’t in the original movie plot—are they the Chosen Ones?'

'Not necessarily,' a middle-aged man shook his head. 'This world isn’t exactly like the movie, but whether they’re Chosen Ones or not, they’re already interfering with our plans. What about Scorpion? Has anyone found the movie’s main character?'

'They say his location’s been pinpointed.'

Okay, take out both brothers who play the leads—don’t leave one alive like in the movie.' The middle-aged man stared at the TV, where Jill and Jack appeared on screen. 'This world needs heroes to stay stable, but we don’t want stability. Chaos helps us reach our goals. So tell our allies to get moving—those two pilots must die, Chosen Ones or not.'

Meanwhile, in a secret meeting room at the Hunter Academy, Cost stood in the center of a hall. Arrayed in a semicircle before him were more than a dozen screens, each showing a powerful figure. These were the real bosses behind the Mecha Hunter organization—the investors, the people Cost couldn’t afford to offend.

'Cost, even though this incident was resolved, there are hidden problems that must be addressed.' A thin, elderly white man spoke harshly: 'Why weren’t the Kaiju detected so close to the base? Why was there insufficient support during the attack? The monsters that appeared a month ago still haven’t been dealt with—this is incompetence!'

Decayed? Kaiju corpses are supposed to be tough to decompose! Didn’t they always need special treatment before they’d break down naturally?

Another person tried to smooth things over: 'Still, the outcome was good. Not only did we avoid losses, but this incident calmed public panic, gained more support, and secured bigger investments. So, Cost, you did well. Let’s not be too harsh. That’s all—I trust you know what to do next.'

One by one, the screens went dark, except for the thin white man’s. 'You just got lucky this time, Cost—you had two top-tier trainees. Next time, who knows if your precious pilots will be able to save the day.'

With that threat, the last screen went dark. Cost hadn’t said a word the whole time; finally, he took a deep breath and turned around. Behind him, Jacob and his trusted aides watched silently.

'Well? Any results?' Cost’s face was dark, almost iron-black.

'We have results,' Jacob replied. 'After analyzing the Level 3 Kaiju’s corpse, we found that the reason the monitoring network couldn’t track its movements is that Level 3 Kaiju have an extra ability to regulate their “power.” When they’re in low-power mode, the radiation signal we use to track them drops sharply, so our current equipment can’t follow them. But in low-power mode, their mobility and combat ability are also lower—similar to Level 2 Kaiju. It also takes time for them to activate from low to high power.'

'So, we’re basically facing Level 3 Kaiju that can appear out of nowhere, know when to fight or flee, and we can’t track their location?!' Cost nearly shouted. The TV’s optimistic story was just spin—he felt a deep sense of crisis.

'No, the science team has found a new method. With modified equipment, we’ll be able to pick up traces of Level 3 Kaiju even in low-power mode. It won’t be real-time tracking, but at least we won’t be totally blind. However…'

'However what?'

The problem is, our research material—the Kaiju corpse—has decayed so much that we can’t run any more experiments. So further research has to be put on hold.

'Decayed? Kaiju corpses are supposed to be tough to decompose! Didn’t they always need special treatment before they’d break down naturally?'

But this one decayed super fast, and its blood lost most of its toxicity and danger—it’s like it was totally weakened. We don’t know why, or if it’s unique to this Kaiju.

'Alright, get to work.' Cost waved his hand, and everyone left—except Jacob, who stayed behind and mysteriously pulled out a photo.

'What’s this? A satellite photo?'

Right. During the battle, a spy satellite happened to pass overhead and snapped a set of photos. After I zoomed in, I found something odd.' Jacob pointed at one photo: 'This is fifteen kilometers off the coast—the spot where the Kaiju started moving. It should be open sea, but look here, there’s a black dot.' His finger landed on a blurry black spot.

Jacob’s expression was grim: “I think this time the Kaiju’s strange behavior is linked to that black spot.”

The black spot was so zoomed in, it was just a few blurry pixels. But Cost frowned—he sensed a conspiracy closing in on him, the Hunter Project, and the whole world.

This matter must be taken very seriously.

While Cost was under a cloud of worry, newly minted world hero Jill Young was in high spirits.

'Great job, Blockhead!' Jill slapped Blockhead on the shoulder, her excitement barely contained. 'Didn’t expect you’d be so useful—you helped me make meat pills!' She popped another round snack in her mouth, just like on TV. After swallowing, she slapped Blockhead’s shoulder again: 'Coming to this world was totally worth it. The Kaiju’s life energy—works like a charm!'
