"Bro, you were absolutely awesome just now!"
"You have no idea how much that Sun Bin from the Mechatronics School usually needs a beating. This time, you were so cool! Haha, watching him kneel there—I couldn't help but laugh!"
Will Han, walking beside Evan Lin, could feel the gazes of everyone watching his back as they left.
Julie Chu? She's not from our school.
Just thinking about Sun Bin's embarrassed face a moment ago made Will Han feel a rush of excitement. It felt way better than actually punching Sun Bin.
"He's just a small fry, not worth worrying about."
Will Han glanced at Evan Lin, still a little conflicted.
Back in junior high and high school, Evan Lin didn't have any real skills—just the kind of guy people forgot in the corner, totally invisible. Even then, he dreamed about one day blowing everyone away in front of his classmates and friends.
Just like every teenager has a hero dream—when the girl you like gets bullied by some street punks, you show up like a hero, stand up for justice, and win everyone’s applause.
So Evan could really understand how Will Han felt right now. Even though he wasn’t the one in the spotlight, Evan’s appearance had kind of fulfilled that wish for him.
Evan Lin paused. Back when Hank Chu got into college, Evan made sure he had a few tens of thousands saved up.
Will Han stuck close to Evan, talking a mile a minute, his excitement still written all over his face.
"By the way, you and Hank Chu are really friends? That guy—having someone like you as a buddy, how come he never bragged about it? If I'd known you were this good, I would've just had him bring you over from the start!"
Seeing Evan Lin wasn't in a talkative mood, Will Han finally shifted the topic to Hank Chu.
"Yeah, we've been friends since we were little. Where is he now, anyway? And did something happen to Hank Chu at school?"
That was exactly what Evan Lin cared about—he just hadn't had a chance to ask until now.
Now that he finally had time, Evan looked at Will Han and asked, "Just now, when those people were talking about Hank Chu, their tone didn't sound too friendly, did it?"
"Also, who's Julie Chu? Which department is she in at your school?"
Just now, Evan Lin overheard someone mention the name Julie Chu. It was obviously a girl’s name, but Hank Chu had never brought her up before.
That made Evan Lin pretty curious.
From what Evan Lin knew about Hank Chu, the guy had always been laser-focused on studying. Even if he liked a girl, he’d be super reserved—not the type to make a move.
Back in high school, Hank Chu liked Amelia Jiao for years but barely showed it—classic Hank.
Now, hearing someone link Julie Chu to Hank Chu—a girl’s name tied to him—plus remembering Hank borrowed money from him recently, Evan couldn’t help being curious.
Julie Chu? She’s not from our school.
Will Han looked a bit hesitant after Evan Lin asked, glancing at Evan and hesitating a moment before speaking: "Julie Chu is from North Hill Aviation University next door. She’s pretty good-looking and studies in-flight service—so after graduation, she’ll be a flight attendant."
And Hank Chu...
Will Han glanced at Evan Lin, still a little conflicted.
Go ahead, it’s fine. If Hank Chu were here, he’d tell me himself.
Hearing Evan Lin say that, Will Han finally nodded like he’d made up his mind and continued: "Last month, Hank Chu started working part-time, right?"
Part-time?
Will Han said, "I think everyone else just sees him as a fat sheep waiting to be fleeced."
It wasn’t a huge amount, but for Hank Chu, it was definitely no small sum.
The main thing was, Evan knew Hank Chu wasn’t picky about material stuff and never wasted money. Plus, Hank’s parents’ salaries had gone up a lot lately, so he really wasn’t hurting for cash.
Yeah, Hank Chu said he wanted to get a head start on real-world experience.
Will Han seemed to notice Evan Lin’s confusion. In their group, whether families were rich or poor, almost nobody started working part-time in their freshman year.
On one hand, everyone had just graduated high school and wanted to relax for a year. On the other, most parents wouldn’t let their kids go without.
Especially when it came to living expenses, parents weren’t stingy. No one really needed to go out and get a part-time job.
That actually fits his personality.
Evan Lin nodded. "And then?"
He told me he met Julie Chu while working part-time.
Will Han and Evan Lin walked toward the school gate. Along the way, a bunch of people rushed toward the playground, and you could vaguely hear shouts like, "He's still kneeling on the field!"
One by one, people ran past Will Han and Evan Lin, racing over to check out the commotion.
After a while, Hank Chu and Julie Chu started getting pretty close.
Will Han scratched his head. "Hank Chu wasn’t planning to tell me, but one night after drinking too much, he spilled the beans."
So he hooked up with her—fine. But then what? Did something happen to Hank Chu?
Something happened... mostly with money. I heard he spent a lot on Julie Chu, then ran out and started borrowing from others.
Talking about this, Will Han looked hesitant again, then turned to Evan Lin and continued, "You’re close with him—why don’t you help out and try to talk some sense into him?"
Seriously, it’s not worth blowing so much money on a girl. The debt collectors are even showing up at school.
I’ve tried to talk to him a bunch of times, but he never listens. Not only that, he thinks I’m just trying to hold him back. I’m honestly out of ideas—he won’t listen at all.
You think she’s just after his money?
Will Han said, "I think everyone else just sees him as a fat sheep to be fleeced."
