Didn’t Expect Him to Still Be Alive

Sean Shaw cast a glance at the Celestial Emperor, but didn't move.

Lucia Lu, on the other hand, had a preconceived impression of the white-robed woman. She never found her all that scary, so she nodded and stepped into the cave.

Sean frowned, hurried after her, and instinctively shielded her behind him.

When she reached the woman, Lucia bowed respectfully first: "Senior."

Lucia quickly bowed again: "Senior."

Catching sight of Sean standing still out of the corner of her eye, she gave him a tug.

Sean had been standing there in a super cool pose, eyeing the white-robed woman warily.

But once she yanked him, all that coolness vanished, and he had no choice but to bow too.

"Senior, I—I know people from the Sigil Sect. I'll ask them to look into how to break this formation and get you out. Could you help us, just this once?" Lucia said.

The white-robed woman sneered, "So the Celestial Emperor and Phoenix Lord are here, yet they send two kids in to act cute? Too bad I don't have any candy for you."

Both the Celestial Emperor and Phoenix Lord looked deeply embarrassed.

Quentin Lian glanced at one, then the other, staying silent.

But Lucia, quick on her feet, suddenly whipped out a box and said, "Senior, we've got candy! My little sister Luna Lian made it herself—it's super tasty! Would you like to try one?"

The white-robed woman stared at her, saying nothing.

Lucia peeled a piece of candy and held it up to the woman's lips. "Go on, try it! It's really, really good!"

"Lucia Lu, are you out of your mind? Get away from her!" Tanya Quinn's voice rang out.

"Lucia, step back," the Celestial Emperor transmitted nervously.

Right then, the white-robed woman opened her mouth and ate the candy.

Then, with a smile, she said, "It really is delicious."

"Right?" Lucia said. "My sister used all kinds of fairy fruits and put in a ton of effort. It's great for warming you up and boosting your strength—perfect for a cold place like this."

Honestly, I regretted not bringing some last time. So today, I made sure to bring it just for you."

The white-robed woman smiled and nodded, then summoned a transparent Rune Staff. "For your sake, I'll try a divination for them."

"Thank you so much, Senior!" Lucia bowed deeply.

Outside, the Celestial Emperor and the others lit up with joy and nervously edged into the cave.

The white-robed woman closed her eyes. The Rune Staff danced, casting a faint ghostly light.

After a long moment, she suddenly coughed up blood.

The Rune Staff fell to the ground.

"Senior!" Lucia cried, alarmed, rushing over to support her and instinctively reaching to check her pulse.

But the white-robed woman pulled her hand away. "It's nothing. Every time I use my spiritual power, the Dragon-Coiling Heavenly Gang Array lashes back and injures me. I've long since gotten used to it!"

"Uh... well..." The Celestial Emperor was at a loss for words.

"Celestial Emperor, you want to know who the Demon Emperor is, right?"

Celestial Emperor: "Yes!"

The white-robed woman's eyes swept over Sean Shaw, then suddenly asked, "Who's this kid? He's awfully handsome!"

"Oh! I forgot to introduce him—he's my fifth son, Sean Shaw," said the Celestial Emperor.

"Ah, so he's your son with Mimi. Grown up so fast!" the white-robed woman said.

"That's right!" The Celestial Emperor smiled with pride.

"Honestly, I thought your Empress had already tormented him to death. Didn't expect him to still be alive." The white-robed woman added.

The Celestial Emperor's smile instantly froze, looking awkward.

"Senior, so who exactly is the Demon Emperor?" Tanya Quinn couldn't help but ask.

The Celestial Emperor also bowed slightly, his face full of hunger for answers.
