Heard You Have a Bone-Setting Miracle Doctor Here

"That's right, Hawkeye is Flying Eagle Company's finest warrior. Whether it's regimental exercises or the Single-Soldier Showdown, he's always an outstanding presence." Gavin Yue nodded repeatedly at this, then turned with a beaming smile toward Colonel Sean Chen. "Sean Chen!"

"Here!"

Colonel Sean Chen answered loudly and quickly stepped forward, his face full of smiles.

Even though the Chen family is a major power in Jinnan, compared to Old Master Xu standing before him, they're still a notch below in both status and influence.

"This is Colonel Sean Chen, the man who trained Flying Eagle Company," Gavin Yue introduced simply.

Old Master Xu chuckled and nodded. "Your Flying Eagle Company's results are indeed impressive. Even in Beijing, I often hear people mention you. Keep up the good work."

"Thank you, sir!" Colonel Sean Chen was thrilled to be praised by Old Master Xu.

Meanwhile, Eldest Brother Su's face turned much gloomier.

"Let's go, Old Master Xu. This year's Single-Soldier Showdown will be even more exciting. It's about to start, so let's head over now."

Gavin Yue led the way at the front.

Colonel Sean Chen followed closely beside Old Master Xu, which made Eldest Brother Su feel even more stifled inside.

If Colonel Sean Chen wins Old Master Xu's approval, then as long as Flying Eagle Company shows real strength in this Single-Soldier Showdown, his name will almost certainly appear on the next list of candidates for promotion.

As for the fact that he still has to climb through the ranks of colonel and senior colonel before becoming a general, that's hardly a problem—with a little maneuvering, he'll get there in no time.

Everyone had their own thoughts. A few people subtly distanced themselves from Deputy Commander Su, while Major Hugh Hu stepped forward and gently patted Su's arm in consolation.

They arrived at the Drill Grounds.

When Gavin Yue and the others entered,

all the soldiers in the stands instantly rose to their feet in perfect unison.

"Good afternoon, sir!"

Their voices rang out in thunderous unison.

Even Blade, caught up in the atmosphere, stood up instinctively with everyone else.

Only Evan Lin remained seated, unmoving like a mountain. His gaze was calm as he swept toward the entrance, sizing things up with a hint of scrutiny.

"Mm."

Ethan Xu nodded slightly. As he entered the arena, he faced countless stares without changing expression—he was long used to scenes like this.

Beside him, Lena Xu straightened her back, looking visibly proud.

All her life, she'd felt proud and honored to have a grandfather like him.

As her gaze swept casually over the faces of the uniformed soldiers in the stands, seeing the awe and reverence in their eyes made her even happier inside.

But soon, Lena Xu spotted a teenager who stood out from the crowd.

He looked only seventeen or eighteen, not wearing a uniform, and didn't bother standing up like everyone else. Most of all, the way he looked over gave Lena a strange, indescribable feeling.

It wasn't awe or respect—more like the gaze you'd give an ordinary person, with no other emotion mixed in.

Lena Xu frowned slightly.

If this were anywhere else, she would've marched right over and demanded an explanation from that kid.

But this was the Jinnan Military District.

She couldn't afford to be rude, so she had to swallow her annoyance and just shot Evan Lin a fierce glare.

"This way, please."

Gavin Yue led Old Master Xu and the others up a side staircase.

At the very front of the Drill Grounds was a small private room, directly above the dueling platform, with a perfect view of everything below.

Once inside, Gavin Yue arranged for Old Master Xu and his group to take their seats.

Deputy Commander Su and the others sat off to the side.

Those of lower rank quietly excused themselves and left.

Very soon, someone brought in tea for everyone.

Major General Gavin Yue glanced at his watch, murmured a few words to the staff beside him, and the man quickly got the message, stepped outside, and soon announced: "The Single-Soldier Showdown is officially underway!"

The Single-Soldier Showdown is a gauntlet of one-on-one battles—win and you move up, lose and you're out.

Each bout is short, fierce, and over in a flash.

As the matches kicked off, fighters jumped into the ring. Two squared off in a brutal clash, drawing wild cheers from the stands.

In the VIP box, Old Master Xu and the senior officers watched a few rounds in silence.

Ordinary fights barely registered in their eyes.

"When's Hawkeye from Flying Eagle Company coming up?" Lena Xu asked, her curiosity piqued after a few matches.

"Should be soon. Hawkeye doesn't usually take the early slots—if you fight first and win, you get more rest. He also wants to give his teammates from other companies a shot at better results." Colonel Sean Chen explained, flashing a smile.

"Strong but not arrogant, and he looks out for others. Training soldiers like that takes real heart," Old Master Xu nodded, clearly impressed.

Deputy Commander Su kept his face stony, and hearing Old Master Xu's praise just made it sting even more.

"By the way, before I came, I heard you've got some kind of miracle bone-setting doctor here? Supposedly, he fixed bone injuries the military hospital couldn't handle—just like that?" Old Master Xu sipped his tea, then glanced at Major General Gavin Yue.

"A miracle doctor?" Major General Gavin Yue was taken aback.

Colonel Sean Chen's smile froze.

"Yeah, I heard he treated bones crushed by Tiger Fang, but I don't know the details. Is this miracle doctor here today?" Old Master Xu nodded.

"Uh..." Major General Gavin Yue hesitated, then looked at Deputy Commander Su. "Weren't your Knife-Edge Company guys the ones who got treated?"

"You know this miracle doctor, don't you?"

Deputy Commander Su hadn't expected the question. He paused for a long moment before nodding. "Yeah, I know him. He's a temporary instructor I brought in for Knife-Edge Company. He really did heal First Blade Frank Xu and Second Blade Zack Zhang's injuries a while back."

"If it weren't for him, Frank and Zack wouldn't even be able to compete in today's Single-Soldier Showdown."

Deputy Commander Su nodded.

"They just recovered and they're already competing? Isn't that a bit risky?" Old Master Xu mused, glancing at Grant Yuan, who showed no reaction.

"Shouldn't be a problem. They bounced back well, and those kids are young and tough—it won't hurt them." Deputy Commander Su shook his head repeatedly.

"In that case, I'd like to meet him if possible. Would that be convenient?"
