Tiger Special Forces Instructor Arrives in Person

2/14/2026

Previously, Evan's impression of Warren Wu and Selina Wu was just that they were a bit more straightforward and bold than most. Selina always seemed carefree, living life as she pleased, totally unfazed by worries.

That day, when Selina publicly backed Evan, going so far as to fall out with Gavin Guan and the rest of the Oceanport rich kids, Evan thought it was because the Wu family had that kind of clout. Looking back now, it’s probably just that Selina herself had the guts to do it.

This Martin Wu looked far stronger than Warren Wu—probably another third-generation Wu family member who’d been groomed for power. For him to show up so aggressively to confront Evan, it was clearly the Wu family sending a message: they wanted Evan to stop getting involved with Selina. Maybe they even knew that warning Selina herself wouldn’t work, so they settled for warning Evan instead.

"I’ll have to deal with this sooner or later, when I get the chance."

Evan shook his head slightly, then quickly followed Blade into the Drill Grounds ahead.

Inside, the stands were packed with soldiers in green uniforms—an endless sea of military attire. Only Evan and Blade, in their civilian clothes, stood out as out of place.

"Knife-Edge Company’s seats are over here. Please follow me."

Blade led the way up front.

No one around paid Evan any special attention.

Most people here had come to see Tiger Fang from the Tiger Special Forces. As for what happened during the last Regimental War Game, most had heard the rumors—and all felt it was a real shame for Knife-Edge Company.

"If Tiger Fang hadn’t joined Flying Eagle Company this time, Knife-Edge Company might really have taken the championship in the Regimental War Game."

"What can you do? Knife-Edge’s five men couldn’t beat Tiger Fang alone. That’s just skill—no shame in losing."

Someone whispered.

At this moment, the central high platform was still empty—no one had stepped onstage yet.

The Single-Soldier Showdown, as the name suggests, tests each warrior’s solo combat skills. Only real strength earns respect—and victory.

There might be rivalries between the companies, but when it comes to respecting the strong, everyone’s on the same page.

Blade led Evan to Knife-Edge Company’s seats and sat down.

Evan had only met five people in Knife-Edge Company.

The rest watched Evan with curiosity, but nobody came up to talk. Evan was left in peace.

"Deputy Commander Su is still outside, hasn’t arrived yet. The Single-Soldier Showdown will start in a while. First Blade and Fifth Blade are both competing this time."

Blade sat down with Evan and briefly explained the current situation.

"There are twenty companies here, five people in each. In previous Single-Soldier Showdowns, Knife-Edge’s best result was Frank Xu taking second place. Flying Eagle’s Hawkeye has held the championship for several years in a row."

Evan nodded at that.

At the military district helipad.

A group stood there, led by Major General Gavin Yue. He stood tall, occasionally glancing at the sky, while Sean Chen and the others waited quietly behind him.

Eldest Brother Su and Sean Chen stood not far apart, but none of them planned to speak. Hugh Hu looked on with curiosity.

There had been rumors that a mysterious VIP would personally come to watch this year’s Single-Soldier Showdown, but nobody knew for sure who it was until today.

Not long after.

A Black Hawk helicopter sliced through the clouds, speeding over.

Its cold, steel rotors whipped up a storm as the helicopter landed steadily on the helipad. Soon, the cabin door opened and out stepped a vigorous, sharp-eyed elderly man.

The old man was about 1.8 meters tall, radiating a powerful aura. He stepped out of the cabin and strode straight toward Gavin Yue.

"Old Master Xu, long time no see!"

Gavin Yue stepped forward, smiling broadly, and shook hands with the newcomer.

"Ethan Xu!" The crowd behind Gavin Yue was visibly shaken at the sight of the old man.

He was a true founding-era war hero, a legendary elder who had survived countless battles and risen to the top.

What’s more, the Xu family was a powerhouse in Beijing, and Old Master Xu hadn’t left the capital in ages. No wonder the officers behind Gavin Yue looked so stunned.

“Gavin, it really has been a while. Last time we met, your hair wasn’t nearly this white.” Old Master Xu laughed heartily.

His gaze was sharp as a blade, and beside him stood a man in his thirties and a girl about seventeen or eighteen.

The girl had short hair and was above average in looks, but her perfect figure—long legs, slim waist—made her stand out in her military uniform, full of heroic spirit.

"Is this Lena? She’s really grown up." Gavin Yue looked at the girl, full of emotion.

"Hello, Grandpa Yue." Lena Xu smiled sweetly.

"Good, good, good!" Gavin Yue was clearly delighted, but when his gaze fell on the man beside Old Master Xu, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes.

The man’s face was as hard as iron. Though he simply stood there, the pressure he radiated was no less than Old Master Xu’s.

"Who is this?"

Gavin Yue was curious.

"Grant Yuan." The man spoke coldly.

That name sent shockwaves through the crowd behind Gavin Yue.

"Grant Yuan, former Tiger Special Forces instructor?"

"Didn’t he get transferred to Beijing? So he’s Old Master Xu’s bodyguard now?"

Back when he was just a rookie, Grant Yuan dared to go alone into the rainforest at the border and single-handedly wiped out an entire Monkey Company!

Many people’s expressions changed dramatically.

Grant Yuan was a Tiger Special Forces legend, but he no longer served as an instructor. Because of the unit’s secrecy, few knew the roster—let alone what its members looked like. That’s why everyone present was so shocked.

Many glanced at Eldest Brother Su and Sean Chen.

Now Sean Chen’s unit had Tiger Fang from the Tiger Special Forces—even if he’d been transferred for disciplinary reasons, his skills were unmatched, especially in the Regimental War Game.

Grant Yuan showing up here added a whole new layer of intrigue.

"Gavin, there’s no need to make such a big fuss. I’m just here to watch the fun with my granddaughter. I hear your military district has produced some real masters lately." Old Master Xu said with a smile.

Take Flying Eagle’s Hawkeye, for example—he’s won the Single-Soldier Showdown several years running.

Old Master Xu spoke with a relaxed smile.
