Discuss It Carefully
Lily Bai clenched her fist inside her sleeve and replied, "Marriage is a matter for the elders to decide."
"Hahaha!" The Celestial Empress laughed. "You're really such a sensible and well-behaved girl! I find myself liking you more and more."
Lily Bai lowered her head and stayed silent.
"Alright! Once you've broken the array, I'll invite your parents over, and then we'll set the engagement."
Lily Bai said nothing more.
The Celestial Empress exchanged a few more polite words with them, then dismissed them.
After everyone left, Leo Li appeared from his invisible state and called out, "Aunt."
The Celestial Empress's gaze turned cold. She said, "If she wasn't truly only at the High Immortal level, I'd almost suspect Lucia Lu hadn't died!"
She had just used a spell to check during their meeting.
"She's definitely not Lucia Lu," Leo Li said. "I know her background and origins very well. She's also a Heaven-Bestowed Demon Slayer. Last time, she was the one who trapped Henry Xiao in the Dragon-Coiling Heavenly Gang Array."
"But to look so much alike—is it really just a coincidence?" The Celestial Empress frowned.
"Maybe," Leo Li replied, not entirely sure himself.
"Go to Cangwu and borrow the Chrono Dial from the Phoenix Divine Lord. Take a look at her past and present lives."
"Yes, Aunt," Leo Li replied. "But Aunt, a lot of people already know about this. I'm afraid it's not something we can just drop. If her looks really are just a coincidence... will you actually let the Fourth Prince marry her?"
The Celestial Empress let out a cold laugh. "With a face like that, bring her here just to irritate myself? Or to give the gods something to gossip about? But you know how stubborn the Fourth Prince is! We can set the engagement first, as for whether the wedding actually happens..."
"Understood, Aunt," Leo Li said.
"How confident are you about breaking the array?"
"As long as the Sigil Sect cooperates, at least eighty percent," Leo Li said.
"They dare not refuse, do they?" The Celestial Empress's eyes chilled.
"After all... this is a deadly business," Leo Li said. "Nephew requests you temporarily agree to the Fourth Prince's proposal—one, so he won't keep making trouble for you, and two, to motivate Lily Bai to focus on breaking the array. Her talent in this area is truly unmatched. Plus, her authority in the Sigil Sect is even higher than that old fox Faustin."
"Got it! I even let you dismantle the Execution Platform—this time, you must succeed!" The Celestial Empress added. "Otherwise, I'll hold you personally responsible!"
"Yes," Leo Li replied, and withdrew.
...
All the way back from the Celestial Palace, Lily Bai didn't say a word.
Strangely enough, Lady Dragon Lord was silent too.
When they reached the sky above Lord River Drake's Manor, their cloud suddenly came to a halt.
Lily Bai looked at her.
Lady Dragon Lord called out, "Little Fish."
"Madam."
"You..."
But she hesitated, as if wanting to speak but holding back.
"What's wrong, Madam?" Lily Bai asked.
"Actually, your mother doesn't know about this," Lady Dragon Lord said. "I told your aunt Serena not to say anything to your family for now."
Lily Bai said, "Oh... Thank you for being so thoughtful."
"Go back and discuss this thoroughly with your clan," Lady Dragon Lord said.
Lily Bai found her reaction odd.
There was no joy at having arranged a match.
Instead, she seemed weighed down.
On the whole trip back, she'd said nothing, her brows slightly furrowed.
"For such a big matter, you should discuss it with your clan chief and with Noel Summers as well," she stressed again.
Noel Summers was the revered ancestor of the Summers Clan.
Lily Bai nodded.
She couldn't shake the strange feeling in her heart.
...
Back at her aunt Serena's quarters, Serena Summers grabbed her excitedly and asked, "How did it go?"
Lily Bai looked at her. "Aunt Serena, what exactly are you asking about?"
