Being Too Good-Looking Can Be Annoying

"Come on..." Serena Summers gave her a playful slap. "Don’t play dumb! Spill it! What did the Celestial Empress say to you?"

"She didn’t really say anything!"

"Didn’t say anything?" Serena Summers was stunned. "Wasn’t she sizing you up for a match?"

Lily Bai bit her lip and said nothing.

"Look at you! The Celestial Empress must’ve brought it up, right? What did she say? Tell me, I’m dying of curiosity!" Serena was practically frantic.

"Serena, what are you talking about? Sizing up? Sizing up for what?" Clarissa Summers looked completely baffled.

"Sis, there’s something I never told you." Serena Summers grinned. "Little Fish really is our family’s lucky charm!"

"What do you mean?"

"Let me tell you..." She leaned in close to whisper in Clarissa’s ear for a while.

"What? Why didn’t you tell me!" Clarissa frowned.

"Lady Serena told me not to say anything yet," Serena explained. "She couldn’t be sure what the Celestial Empress wanted to talk to Little Fish about."

"So the Fourth Prince wants to take Little Fish as a side consort?" Clarissa asked.

"No, as his main wife," Serena said. "I know what you’re thinking—if it were just as a side consort, I would’ve helped you reject it already."

"The Fourth Prince’s main wife..." Clarissa wore the exact same dazed look Lily had earlier.

"The Fourth Prince is really sincere—he even said he’d recommend Yao-yao to Divine Lord Xiao Li as a disciple!" Serena added. "Divine Lord Xiao Li is the Celestial Emperor’s own uncle and was once Dragon Abyss’s greatest war god! Only imperial children ever get to study under him."

"But how could Little Fish ever be good enough for the Fourth Prince?" Clarissa frowned.

"Don’t sell yourself short," Serena said. "With Little Fish’s beauty and talent, how many girls in the world could compare? It’s no surprise the Fourth Prince fell for her!"

Hearing this, Clarissa realized her sister had a point. She started to feel a sense of reality and a little joy, then turned to Lily: "Little Fish, what exactly did the Celestial Empress say?"

"She said, if our Sigil Sect breaks the Wildlands Tribulation Thunder Array, she’ll summon you and Father Emperor for an audience, and formally betroth me to the Fourth Prince." Lily replied.

"What?" Clarissa’s face changed. "The Wildlands Tribulation Thunder Array?"

Lily nodded.

"That array—even the gods couldn’t break it, and they expect you to?"

"I am a Rune Master, after all."

Clarissa was silent for a long moment before saying, "This just feels like a trap. If you go in, can you even come back alive? Little Fish, I don’t care what you think—I have only one demand: you must survive! Live well!"

Lily felt that her mom really was her true mother.

"Little Fish, I feel the same way," Serena said. "If you really do marry into Drake Abyss, I’ll be the happiest of all. But nothing is more important than your life—the rest is secondary."

Lily nodded again.

Her aunt really was her true aunt.

......

Today, Little Shrimp went out to play with several of Lord River Drake’s children.

He probably won’t be back until evening.

So, they decided to head home tomorrow instead.

Lily returned to her room in her aunt Serena’s courtyard and sat there, zoning out.

After spacing out for a while, feeling burdened with worries and having no one to confide in, she set up a spirit barrier and tried summoning Damian Black.

This time, as soon as she called, he appeared.

He glanced at her and asked, "What’s wrong? Not happy?"

Lily sighed and said, "Sometimes being too good-looking is honestly kind of a pain."

Damian paused for a moment, then replied, "Mm."

"You know Henry Xiao, right?"

"I do."

"What kind of person is he?"
