Almost Losing Evan Lan 4
"Hey! The concrete barriers are already open! Saves us the trouble of moving them again!" Samson Zhang said with a laugh.
But Lily Bai felt a sudden tightness in her chest—something just didn't feel right.
Just then, their seven-seater minivan suddenly shot down from the mountain.
River Li had provided them with a seven-seater minivan, but Max Mo hated it so much he got himself a Mercedes instead.
Of course, he bought it with Lily Bai's money.
So now, there are two cars in their courtyard.
One is the Mercedes Lily Bai is driving now; the minivan usually sits outside, and unless they need both cars, nobody touches it.
But now, the minivan was suddenly barreling down, heading straight for the barriers.
Seeing Lily Bai's car blocking the way, the minivan abruptly changed direction and sped off toward the front side of the mountain.
"Hey, isn't that Lisa? What's she rushing off for?" Samson Zhang, who had sharp eyes, immediately spotted Lisa behind the wheel.
But Lily Bai's face changed dramatically. She slammed the gas pedal and took off in pursuit.
"Sis? What are you doing?" Samson Zhang jumped in surprise.
"That's not Lisa!"
"If that's not Lisa, then who is it?"
"It's a person!"
Someone was disguised as her.
Under Lily Bai's control, the car tore after the minivan on the zigzag mountain road.
The Mercedes was way more powerful than that clunky minivan, and Lily Bai was a skilled driver—she was closing in fast.
But just then, the minivan up ahead suddenly dumped a pile of road spikes.
Lily Bai couldn't brake in time and ran right over the spikes. The tires blew out instantly, sending the car skidding straight toward the cliff.
Samson Zhang was so scared he went stiff, his face pale, clutching his seat for dear life.
Lily Bai cursed, jerked the steering wheel hard, and finally slammed into the curb—barely stopping the car in time.
She jumped out and saw the minivan already rounding the next switchback.
One more turn, and it'd hit the straightaway.
At the end of that seven or eight hundred meter stretch was the guard post and roadblock.
Even worse, the roadblock at the foot of the mountain was open.
Those two young guards were always so eager to help—whenever they saw their cars coming, they'd open the roadblock from a distance.
"Use my phone to call the President—tell him that no matter what, he can't let that minivan get past the roadblock!" Lily Bai unlocked her phone and tossed it to Samson Zhang.
Samson Zhang was still shaken, his face ghostly pale. Now he was even more freaked out: "What? What? You want me to call the Pre-President?"
"Hurry! Otherwise it'll be too late!"
"Even if she's not Lisa, it's just a stolen car—do I really need to call the President for that?" Samson Zhang was seriously stressed.
Lily Bai didn't answer. Instead, she suddenly jumped down to the next level of the zigzag road.
With that leap, she landed on the next tier of the switchback road.
It was at least seven or eight meters down.
Samson Zhang got out of the car with the phone, about to shout, "Are you insane!"—then realized his sister was totally fine, and watched her nimbly leap down another tier.
The minivan was just rounding the bend, heading into the final switchback.
Lily Bai timed it perfectly and jumped again.
This time, she landed right on top of the minivan.
She steadied herself and started kicking at the windshield.
A gun barrel suddenly poked out from the driver's window, aiming right at Lily Bai and firing.
Lily Bai twisted aside, dodging the shots, and kicked the windshield again.
The glass shattered under her kick.
But there were actually more people in the van.
The rear door slid open and someone leaned out with a machine gun, spraying bullets at her.
"Ahhh!" Samson Zhang screamed, finally snapping out of it and dialing the President's number without a second thought.
