The other side picked up instantly, and the voice sounded a bit excited: "Lily!"

"Mr. President, help! I'm Lily Bai's brother. Someone stole our car and is trying to escape—she's fighting them right now—"

The President hung up and immediately called Leo Long to get the details.

Leo Long called Felix Chen, who was guarding the gate.

But no one answered.

"No answer," Leo Long reported to the President.

"Go there right now, take armed men, and make sure Lily Bai is safe!"

Leo Long immediately set out with his men.

The President paced in place for a bit, then ordered Secretary Grant to prepare the car and headed out himself.

When he arrived, he saw two men lying on the road. Leo Long was directing guards to carry them away.

Inside the guard booth, one guard lay in a pool of blood.

The car had crashed head-on into the rail barrier. The front was completely smashed, and fuel was leaking out.

Felix Chen was by the car, urgently saying, "Miss Bai! Get out of here, the car could explode any second!"

Lily Bai searched the car and finally came out holding a metal box.

Felix Chen stayed close to her, repeating, "Get out of here, the car's about to blow!"

Lily Bai nodded and turned to run.

She hadn't gone far when the car really did explode. The blast knocked both of them to the ground.

But Lily Bai didn't feel any pain.

Turning around, Lily Bai saw that the young guard, Felix Chen, had actually thrown himself behind her, shielding her with his own body. Barely conscious, he asked, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. What about you?" Lily Bai asked him.

"I'm fine too..." Felix Chen managed a smile at her, then collapsed.

"Hey, handsome! Handsome!" Lily Bai caught him as he fell.

Other guards hurried over and carried him away.

Only then did Lily Bai finally look at the metal box in her hands.

Each corner of the box was sealed with a talisman.

The talismans glowed faintly red.

Lily Bai reached out, tore off the talismans, and opened the lid.

Inside—was Evan Lan!

She gently lifted him out, hugged him tightly, and sobbed with joy.

She realized then—they weren't after the car.

They wanted to steal Evan Lan!

Once she calmed down a little, she noticed the President squatting beside her, staring intently at the Vanishing Plant in her hands.

Just earlier, two young guards had heard the gunshots, and ran out in shock to see what was happening.

They saw Lily Bai fighting two armed men.

Catching sight of them from the corner of her eye, Lily Bai shouted, "Close the gate! Close the gate!"

One of the young guards snapped out of it and ran to the booth to close the barrier.

But the thug shot at him.

The bullet struck the young guard in the head.

Felix Chen didn't hesitate—he dove inside, rolled over, and pressed the button to close the gate just in time.

The car rammed into the barrier and finally came to a halt.
