It Likes the General Just Like I Do

Bianca Whiteshire gave her an approving glance, lifted her skirt, and went to sit beside Evan Xiao.

"Grace." Evan Xiao called out.

"Yeah?" Grace chirped, looking at him.

"Come sit next to me."

Grace shot Bianca a mischievous look and said, "Hey! Sure!"

Then, with Ah Chan pulling out the chair for her, she sat down and said, "Thanks!"

Ah Chan glared at her, but intimidated by Evan Xiao's presence, she sulked off to the side.

Bianca Whiteshire glanced at Grace, took a deep breath, and sat down between Shannon Whitefan and Grace.

With the boss here, the food was served quickly.

Seeing a whole table of Antler Serpent dishes, Grace immediately thought of Cutie Pie.

"I haven't seen Cutie Pie in ages," Grace said. "I was in such a rush when I left, I didn't even get to say goodbye. Is it still at the General's Manor?"

Evan Xiao paused for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, it is."

Today happens to be the first day of the month, so tonight it'll transform.

"I'm free this afternoon, so maybe I'll go visit it?"

Evan Xiao said, "Sure, but I have something to do this afternoon, so I can't go with you."

"Alright then..."

"Cutie Pie? What's that?" Bianca Whiteshire asked, her tone full of curiosity.

"It's my spirit pet."

"Your spirit pet... Why is it at the General's Manor?"

Grace glanced at her and said, "It likes the General, just like I do, so it keeps running off to the General's Manor."

Li Zan choked on his food and started coughing, unable to hide his surprise.

After he finished coughing, he looked at Grace and said, "You know, as a young lady, you should be a bit more reserved when it's called for."

"Oh! Whatever you say, Master Li!" Grace replied with mock modesty.

Li Zan suddenly felt sorry for Bianca Whiteshire, so he picked up some food for her. "Eat more, Bianca. The Antler Serpent here is a specialty—you won't get to taste it again once you leave."

Bianca Whiteshire nodded, tried a bite, and her eyes lit up. She couldn't help but eat a few more mouthfuls.

"Well? Told you it was good, right?"

"Mm, it's delicious." She picked up a piece of Antler Serpent meat and placed it in front of Evan Xiao. "General, you should try some."

Evan Xiao nodded slightly. "Thank you."

But he didn't touch it.

Instead, he asked someone waiting outside, "Where's Lu Xin?"

"Here, here!" As soon as Lu Xin was mentioned, he arrived, carrying a large food box.

He opened it, revealing several plates of food—all looking and smelling delicious.

"These are signature dishes from Drunken Fragrance, the biggest restaurant in Danyang City. Try them and see what you think!" Lu Xin introduced.

Evan Xiao picked up his chopsticks and served Grace a piece of meat. "Try this."

Grace took a bite, nodded, and said, "It's really good! Everyone, eat up—don't just eat Antler Serpent! You'll get sick of it!"

"Aren't you ruining your own reputation? We're here to eat, but you brought dishes from another restaurant!" Li Zan teased her.

"Whatever, eat it or not, your choice!" Grace shot him a look.

Evan Xiao picked up a piece of fish, carefully removed the bones, and served it to Grace. "Watch out for bones."

Grace nodded and ate it...

Bianca Whiteshire noticed that Evan Xiao hadn't touched the food she served him. Instead, he kept looking after Grace.

Even though Li Zan said it was all for the mission, Bianca Whiteshire couldn't help but shoot daggers at Grace in her mind, over and over.

"Grace, why aren't you eating the Antler Serpent?" Bianca Whiteshire asked, her eyes flickering with emotion.

"Because Cutie Pie is an Antler Serpent," Grace replied. "Ever since I started raising it, I just can't eat Antler Serpent meat anymore."
