Exhaust Her to Death

"Can I just join whichever division I want?" Grace asked.

"Yes. You're a genius with the Celestial Five-Element Root! You have special privileges, so you can choose wherever you want to go." Sophie Sun raised an eyebrow.

So Grace didn't hold back and said, "Then I'll join the Herb Division!"

The Herb Division is in charge of managing magical herbs and medicinal materials.

Whether it's at the main Guild or a branch, it's always the hottest spot.

Sophie Sun smiled and said, "You sure picked a good place!"

"Thank you, President."

"Alright! You just checked in today, so come officially tomorrow. I'll assign you some tasks."

"Okay, I'll head back now."

Sophie Sun smiled and gestured for her to leave.

After Grace left, Sophie Sun's trusted aide Leo Bo leaned in and said, "President, why did you let her join the Herb Division? If you ask me, you should've put her in the Administration Division!"

Sophie Sun smiled. "Isn't it about time we tilled the soil for our hundred acres of Black Ginseng?"

"Tilling the soil?" Leo Bo was puzzled. "We've never tilled the soil after planting Black Ginseng before, have we?"

"A little extra tilling never hurts!"

"Uh... What do you mean?"

"When she comes tomorrow, have her till the soil! After that, make her fertilize it! No one is allowed to help her! One hundred acres—I refuse to believe she won't be exhausted to death!"

"Oh! Got it!" Leo Bo laughed. "Don't worry, she's so eager to join our Guild. I'll make sure she sheds a layer of skin! She'll learn whose turf this really is!"

Sophie Sun sneered.

When Grace left the Guild, she saw Louis Lin waiting at the entrance.

"Louis Lin, what brings you here?" Grace asked.

"The General wants to take you out for a meal." Louis Lin said with a grin. "Miss Grace, do you have time right now?"

"Sure!" Grace replied. "Where are we going?"

"Your place! Regulars' Tavern," Louis Lin said. "The Imperial Advisor is treating everyone, says it's to support your business!"

"Support my business? I bet he's up to something! Is he going to make me eat Antler Serpent again?"

"This time you've got him all wrong!" Louis Lin said. "Actually... he didn't invite you at all! It's the General who wants you there!"

"Huh? If the host didn't invite me, why am I going?"

"Do you know what the dinner is for today?" Louis Lin asked, looking mysterious.

"What for?"

Louis Lin leaned in, waggling his eyebrows. "Miss Bianca is leaving. It's a farewell banquet."

"Oh... haha!" Grace laughed. "Then I definitely have to go!"

Can't let Bianca Whiteshire get a chance to be alone with Evan Xiao!

"You go ahead, I'll bring you some dishes later!" Louis Lin said.

"Great, thanks! Where's the General?"

"He went home to change after court. We'll meet up with him soon."

...

Sure enough, Leon Zane hadn't invited her.

When he saw her, his look was anything but friendly. "Why are you here?"

"Imperial Advisor, you don't seem very happy to see me, huh?" Grace asked.

"Not happy at all, you got that right!"

"Well, I'm already here, so what am I supposed to do?" Grace said, spreading her hands helplessly.

"Then let's eat together!" Leon Zane shot her a sideways glance, then shouted to the waiter, "Waiter! Bring us Antler Serpent soup, stir-fried Antler Serpent, and roasted Antler Serpent! No side dishes!"

...

When they took their seats in the private room, Evan Xiao sat at the head, Leon Zane sat beside him, and Shannon sat next to Leon Zane.

Then Amber, Bianca Whiteshire's maid, pulled out the chair next to Evan Xiao.
