Lisa Li's Past

1/4/2026

That year, Max Mo met Lisa Li for the first time.

Lisa Li was only ten years old that year, while Max Mo was already twenty-two.

At that time, Max Mo wasn't yet the CEO of the Moore Group; he was just the eldest son of the Mo Family.

He had a fiancée who was incredibly beautiful and gentle—her name was Nora Yun.

His eyes and his heart were filled with nothing but that girl named Nora Yun.

Young men newly in love are always full of energy and vitality.

That day, Max Mo had a match with the coach, and once again, he came out on top.

The coach laughed heartily and slapped Max Mo on the shoulder, saying, "Kid, you’re something else! In just a few years, I’m no match for you anymore."

Max Mo smiled, his light blue eyes full of youthful energy. "Coach, you’re just going easy on me. I’m learning this stuff just to protect myself, not to risk my life."

The coach nodded in admiration. "You’re the Mo Family’s heir, the next head of the family. There are plenty of people to protect you. Just take care of yourself."

Max Mo chuckled.

In the distance, a little girl came running over. The coach smiled and said, "That’s my daughter—she’s come to find me!"

"You already have a daughter that old?" Max Mo looked at the coach in surprise.

"Of course! I’m in my thirties, so of course my kid isn’t little anymore." The coach laughed, squatting down to welcome his precious daughter.

Lisa Li darted into her father’s arms like a little bird. "Daddy, I missed you so much!"

"Good girl, Sisi." Coach Lee kissed his daughter’s cheek, picked her up, and said to Max Mo, "This is my little princess, Lisa Li. Come on, Sisi, say hello to Uncle."

Lisa Li looked at Max Mo and was instantly stunned!

Wow, big brother is so handsome!

He looked so much better than all the little boys at school.

"You’re so good-looking, can I call you big brother instead of uncle?" Lisa Li tilted her little head and asked.

Max Mo couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m friends with your dad, so you should call me uncle.”

Lisa Li pouted. “No way, I want to call you big brother. Big brother, big brother, big brother…”

Coach Lee said apologetically, “I’ve spoiled my daughter. Don’t mind her, Max.”

“Not at all.” Max Mo smiled.

“Want to grab a drink together later?” Coach Lee asked.

“No, thanks.” Max Mo glanced at his watch and said, “Nora’s not feeling well. I’m going to check on her.”

“Your fiancée?” Coach Lee asked. “The eldest Miss Yun?”

“Yes.” When Max Mo mentioned Nora Yun, his eyes grew incredibly gentle.

Lisa Li stared blankly into the handsome big brother’s eyes, her heart inexplicably sour. If only he could look at her with such tenderness one day…

Later on, Lisa Li saw Max Mo several more times.

Every time she saw him, Lisa Li was awestruck by his stunning looks.

It seemed like, as time passed, he only grew more charming.

When Lisa Li was thirteen, she saw Max Mo again—and this time, he was clutching a photo of someone, crying uncontrollably.

“Max…” Lisa Li carefully approached, hesitantly reaching out and placing her hand on his shoulder.

Max Mo turned around and hugged Lisa Li tightly. “My Nora… she’s gone.”

Just those few words conveyed all his pain.

Lisa Li was stunned.

She didn’t know how to comfort him, so she just kept awkwardly patting his shoulder, giving him what little comfort she could.

In that moment, a thought floated through Lisa Li’s mind: Since Max’s Nora was gone, maybe she could take Nora’s place and look after Max instead.

But after that, Max Mo left and never came back.

Lisa Li waited day after day, longing for Max Mo, and finally, when she turned eighteen, he came back.

Lisa Li was overjoyed.

She was eighteen now—an adult.

She could finally be Max Mo’s girlfriend!

Just as Lisa Li was excitedly planning to confess to Max Mo, she discovered another woman by his side.

That woman looked exactly like the late Nora Yun.

Lisa Li panicked.

She was afraid this woman would steal Max Mo away from her.

She couldn’t allow that to happen.

Absolutely not!

So, she deliberately targeted that woman, trying to drive her away with clumsy tricks.

But whenever she went after that woman, Max Mo just got angrier and wanted nothing to do with her.

Lisa Li was truly scared.

She didn’t understand what she’d done wrong.

Why wouldn’t Max Mo even look at her?

That woman had her own child and her own husband!

How could Max Mo possibly like a woman like that?

No, that couldn’t be!

So Lisa Li went to find that woman named Cecilia Gu, hoping to force Max Mo to notice her.

But she was disappointed.

Max Mo only cared about whether that woman was happy, never once asking if Lisa Li was hurting.

But she loved Max Mo more than Cecilia Gu ever could!

Max Mo, why can’t you love me?

I care about you more than Cecilia Gu does. I’m younger than her. I love you more than she ever could!

But no matter what she did, Max Mo only had eyes for Cecilia Gu.

She just couldn’t accept it—she really couldn’t.

Even after Cecilia Gu married Charles Yin and had a daughter, Max Mo’s gaze was still fixed on her.

Just when Lisa Li thought she’d never have another chance, her parents’ sudden death gave her a new lease on life.

Her dad saw through her feelings and, leveraging his past friendship, forced Max Mo—using his own death as leverage—to promise to take care of her.

Sure enough, Max Mo agreed.

Her dad held her hand, unable to say a word for a long time.

She understood—her dad had done all he could. He really had.

From then on, Lisa Li followed Max Mo everywhere. The more she tried to prove herself, the more she was mocked and humiliated.

Lisa Li fell into a vicious cycle.

Four years of college turned her into a spoiled, arrogant, and unreasonable heiress.

It’s not like she wanted to be this way.

But if she didn’t act out, how else could she get his attention?

She was like a rebellious kid, always doing something shocking just to get his attention.

Lisa Li thought that even if she couldn’t marry Max Mo, she’d still be the only woman by his side.

But then, one day, a woman named Julia Yu appeared boldly at Max Mo’s side and never left. Lisa Li immediately disliked her.

At first, Julia Yu only showed up occasionally.

But as time went on, she started showing up more and more, eventually becoming the Mo Consortium’s legal adviser and spending every day by Max Mo’s side.

Lisa Li immediately became vigilant and began investigating Julia Yu.

When she found out that Max Mo’s two children’s biological mother was actually Julia Yu, Lisa Li was thunderstruck.

She’d been guarding against everyone else, but never realized the biggest threat was right beside her!

So Lisa Li poured all her energy into battling wits and courage against Julia Yu.

No matter what Julia Yu did, Lisa Li was convinced she had ulterior motives.

Despite all the obstacles Lisa Li threw her way, Julia Yu was never rejected by Max Mo. On the contrary, he relied on her more and more.

Lisa Li became increasingly unhappy.

Several times, Lisa Li deliberately tried to set Julia Yu up, but Julia always managed to resolve the situation with ease.

Max Mo knew about all this, but never said a word.

Lisa Li thought Max Mo didn’t know, so she became even more reckless.

Until one day, her scheming finally involved Cecilia Gu—and that was when Max Mo warned her.

Only then did Lisa Li understand.

She could cause trouble all she wanted, raise as much chaos as she liked, but she could never scheme against Cecilia Gu.

That was the forbidden zone in Max Mo’s heart—cross it, and you’d be doomed.

Lisa Li tiptoed along that high-voltage line, never stopping her efforts to make trouble for Julia Yu.

But unexpectedly, Julia Yu and Cecilia Gu became closer and closer.

Lisa Li could only watch as Julia Yu and Cecilia Gu became good friends. They chatted easily, never once glancing her way.

Lisa Li felt both inferior and resentful, her heart aching with frustration.

During those days in Malaysia, she desperately wanted Max Mo’s attention.

But she failed once again.

Max Mo risked his own safety just to protect Cecilia Gu.

Cecilia Gu was his whole world.

Finally, Lisa Li snapped and lashed out at Julia Yu, saying things she’d never said before.

Lisa Li thought Max Mo would ignore it as usual, but to her surprise, he actually got angry with her—for Julia Yu’s sake.

After returning to China, everything changed. Nothing was the same anymore.

Lisa Li started going on blind dates, deliberately sabotaging them and making things difficult for Julia Yu.

But Julia Yu didn’t seem to care at all.

Then came Snow Grace, a woman whose resemblance to Cecilia Gu made her another contender for Max Mo’s affection.

How could Lisa Li possibly allow that?

The two fought openly and in secret, but still lost to her.

After Lisa Li was sold by human traffickers, she knew her world had collapsed.

She could never become Max Mo’s wife.

She gave up on herself, choosing to sink into darkness.

She wanted to destroy everything good.

But once again, she lost.

Her schemes backfired, and she could never return to Max Mo’s side.

Now, she was nothing but a ruined woman.

Ruined.

There was no going back.

She had no choice but to marry Sean Young. If she refused, Max Mo would never see her again.

For that humble hope, she gave in and married Sean Young, living a chaotic, tumultuous life.

Deep down, she knew something was wrong with her mind.

She couldn’t control herself.

She didn’t want to be like this.

She truly couldn’t control herself anymore.

I’m sorry. I tried my best.

Lisa Li hugged her knees and gently closed her eyes.

Max Mo, can I still call you Max Mo?

Max Mo, I like you.

Next life, let me meet you earlier, and maybe you’ll like me too, okay?

Julia Yu placed Lisa Li’s medical report in front of Max Mo: “This is the analysis the hospital just sent over. Lisa Li is now trapped in the illusions she created for herself, unable to escape or wake up.”

In other words, Lisa Li was truly insane now.
