Lisa Li's Breakdown

1/4/2026

Sean Young stared at Julia Yu in shock, his mind completely blank.

All he could think was: She knows about me and the other woman. She knows, she knows, she knows...

Sean Young turned away in embarrassment, unable to face Julia Yu.

He never felt guilty about having someone else outside his marriage to Lisa Li, but for some reason, he felt like he was betraying Julia Yu.

Julia Yu was someone he had truly cared about once.

But the woman he once loved was now telling him: He could have someone else, he could even have kids with them, but the one thing he couldn't do was divorce...

If the person he married was Julia Yu, he'd never have anyone else for the rest of his life.

Fate could be so ridiculous—he ended up marrying a woman he didn't love, while the woman he loved most was about to become someone else's wife.

Julia Yu saw Sean Young turn his back to her and stopped talking.

Sean Young wiped his face, his voice heavy with sorrow: "Julia Yu, when I said I liked you back then, I meant it."

Julia Yu did not answer.

Sean Young said, "I know you look down on me. What am I? Just a punk, an uneducated punk. I worked hard to open a repair shop just to get closer to you, but now I realize the gap between us is insurmountable. I'm just a rich kid with money from my family's demolition. Once the money's gone, I'm nothing. But you, you're different."

You're a top lawyer, a top assistant. You've studied abroad, you have a master's degree, and even if you leave the Moore Group, you'll do just fine. Yes, I'm shameless. Back then, I lost my mind and agreed to work with Lisa Li to set you up, so I brought this suffering on myself. I deserve it, I...

Do you know? The first time I saw you, I couldn't see anyone else but you. I've never met a woman like you—smart and wise, as if everything is in your hands. You do everything calmly, never rushed. It's like you have everything figured out, and no one can cross that line in your heart.

Back then, I thought: Sean Young, this woman is your life's pursuit. You have to win her, marry her, and treat her well.

But what did I do? I actually...' Sean Young slapped himself hard. 'I'm a bastard, I'm worthless! I still missed out on you.'

Recently, I heard you were with the young master of Song Dairy, and it hurt so much. But I couldn't say a word. Who could I tell? I chose all of this myself. I secretly followed Stephen Song, watched him from afar, and in that moment I understood the gap between us. I finally understood why you rejected me and chose him.

He's handsome, polite, and I envy him. That's what upbringing looks like. No one in the Young family ever received that kind of education, no one taught me to be a gentleman. I lost, and I accept it. Julia Yu, I wish you happiness, truly.

Sean Young slowly turned around, tears in his eyes as he looked at Julia Yu: "Don't worry, Julia. I promise you, I won't let Lisa Li's troubles affect you again. I'm her legal husband, so I have that right. I'll make sure she doesn't come out and cause trouble for you."

Julia Yu spoke quietly: "Thank you, Sean Young."

"Ha! That one 'thank you'—I'll probably spend my whole life remembering it." Sean Young's tiger eyes brimmed with tears. "Will you invite me to your wedding?"

Julia Yu didn't respond, and Sean Young quickly looked away, flustered. "If you don't want to, that's fine. I was just joking anyway. I know I'm not qualified to attend your wedding. I'm just a punk..."

"Alright," Julia Yu replied softly.

Sean Young was stunned into silence.

Sean Young was at a complete loss, almost thinking he must've misheard.

"When I get married, I'll write the invitation myself for you. My calligraphy is beautiful—you won't be embarrassed." Julia Yu looked steadily at Sean Young, her eyes filled with a complicated sadness.

Sean Young suddenly lifted his head, determined not to let his tears fall.

He couldn't bear to lose face in front of her.

"Alright, it's a deal." Sean Young nodded. "Where's the document? I'll sign it."

Julia Yu opened the document on the table, uncapped the pen, and placed it on top.

Sean Young picked up the pen and, without even looking, signed his name in bold, sweeping strokes.

He set the pen down heavily and turned to leave.

At the moment he stepped out the door, Sean Young's tears finally fell.

When you're young, you don't know what sorrow is; you just try to write sad lines for the sake of poetry. [Footnote: Quoted from a classical Chinese poem, expressing youthful innocence about real heartbreak.]

At that moment, Sean Young felt an unbearable pain in his heart.

It was as if, overnight, Sean Young had suddenly grown up.

They say a man only truly matures after a soul-crushing first love or a life-shattering blow.

Sean Young dove into his car and started the engine.

At that moment, the radio played Jordan Chan's song 'Dependence': "Even if the world around us makes no sense, I'll always be with you. If you don't let go of me, I won't let go of you. I want to hold the same arm every day. I don't dare to die young, I want to stay with you. I've had enough of parting, it's not so tragic. After seeing all the clouds and storms, how could I bear to let you go?" [Footnote: Jordan Chan is a well-known Hong Kong singer and actor.]

Sean Young collapsed onto the steering wheel and sobbed uncontrollably.

His first love was officially over.

Julia Yu looked at the document in front of her and slowly put it away.

Outside the door, her assistant knocked. "Special Assistant Yu, the hospital has already been contacted."

"Got it." Julia Yu put away the agreement and walked out with her assistant.

The assistant kept chattering about Lisa Li, but Julia Yu's mind was still stuck on everything Sean Young had just said.

Julia Yu knew Sean Young liked her, but she hadn't realized just how much effort and thought he had quietly put in.

She had always been a calm person, knowing exactly what she wanted.

She also understood that, while some might call her calm and wise, others would say she was cold and heartless.

Even knowing someone liked her, she could still calmly separate herself from those feelings.

Honestly, this is better for everyone.

After all, it was never possible.

Better a short pain than a long one.

I hope Sean Young finds someone who truly loves and cares for him in the future.

Let the past stay in the past.

Sean Young drove to his mistress's place. She greeted him with the same cheerful smile as always.

But this time, Sean Young didn't act affectionate like before. He just stood there, staring at her face—which resembled Julia Yu in some ways—as if he was looking right through her at someone else.

His mistress was confused by his stare. "Sean, what's wrong? Are you tired?"

No matter how hard she tried to hide it, she couldn't conceal the joy in her eyes.

She already knew Sean Young had sent Lisa Li to the hospital. As expected, Lisa would no longer be an obstacle between her and Sean.

As long as Sean Young divorces Lisa Li, maybe she could finally take her place.

She became even more attentive, fussing over Sean Young. "Sean, I made some soup. Let me get you a bowl?"

"Okay," Sean Young replied, his voice low, turning away in loneliness.

No matter how much she resembled Julia Yu, she wasn't Julia.

Julia Yu would never do something like this.

She was always so calm, always so composed.

She would never get jealous, never care about her own bitterness and hardships.

How ironic!

So this is what it feels like to want something you can't have.

His mistress went into the kitchen, and her smile slowly faded.

She anxiously stirred the soup in the pot.

She could tell that every time Sean Young came over, he was always distracted.

At first, she thought Sean Young was just worried about Lisa Li at home.

But later, when she was taking care of a drunken Sean Young, she heard him say another name: Julia Yu.

The mistress felt deeply uneasy. She didn't know who Julia Yu was, or what kind of person could leave such a mark on Sean Young's heart.

But she didn't dare ask.

She was afraid that if she broke the illusion, things would never go back to how they were.

Lisa Li was transferred to the Fourth Hospital, also known as the psychiatric hospital.

When Lisa Li woke up, she found herself locked in a room.

"Who are you people? Let me go! Let me go! I'm Lisa Li, the sister of Grant Group CEO Grant Zixin! If you dare treat me like this, aren't you afraid of offending the Grant family?"

"What are you going to do? Let me go, I don't want this!"

"I... I want to see Zixin, my brother! I want to see him!"

"I want to see Julia Yu, I have something to say to her!"

"I... I want to get out!"

After struggling for a week, Lisa Li finally realized she would never leave this place.

She felt the world spinning around her.

She knew she was finished, completely abandoned by Grant Zixin!

Why?

Why did it end up like this?

She couldn't accept it!

She had to get out!

She wanted to destroy Julia Yu!

It was all Julia Yu's fault!

If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be suffering like this!

Everything, everything was because of Julia Yu!

If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have ended up like this!

"Bed fourteen, it's time for your medicine." The nurse came over with a cart and handed Lisa Li her pills.

"I won't take it! I won't! There's nothing wrong with me, I'm normal! I've been framed! I want out!" Lisa Li slapped the nurse's hand away.

The nurse immediately pressed the alarm: "Bed fourteen is having a severe emotional episode, prepare an injection!"

Two people rushed in, pinned Lisa Li to the bed, and before she could struggle, injected her.

Lisa Li felt the world spin and quickly lost consciousness.

The sky gradually darkened.

When Lisa Li slowly awoke, her eyes were empty, and no matter how long she thought, she couldn't remember where she was.

She curled up on the bed, sitting quietly.

She looked so docile now, almost like she was ten years old again.

Back then, she was just as sweet and cute, chasing after Grant Zixin, calling him 'Zixin brother' over and over: "You're so handsome, can I call you Zixin brother?"
