I Felt Pretty Satisfied
General Evan Xiao nodded and looked at Bianca Whiteshire. "Miss Bianca."
General Evan Xiao actually spoke to her first! Bianca Whiteshire flashed him her sweetest smile and asked, "General Evan Xiao?"
"This maid of yours cannot stay, Bianca Whiteshire."
Bianca Whiteshire's smile froze on her face. "Huh? Why, General Evan Xiao?"
"As a maid, she interrupted her mistress while General Evan Xiao was speaking. That's already out of line. She doesn't even know the basics—what should be said and what shouldn't. Keeping her will only bring you trouble. Better to have her executed."
"What?" Amber was terrified, her legs buckling as she dropped to her knees. "General, please spare me!"
"It's just a suggestion," General Evan Xiao said, not even glancing at her. He spoke only to Bianca: "How you deal with her is up to you."
Bianca was torn. General Evan Xiao had spoken so harshly—if she didn't comply, wouldn't she risk displeasing him?
But Amber was her trusted aide—efficient and useful...
"Um, General, my sister only brought Amber with her. If Amber dies, she'll have to go back alone. Please, General, show some mercy," Shannon pleaded.
Evan Xiao glanced at her but said nothing.
That was tacit approval.
So Shannon hurriedly said, "Amber, get outside and kneel! Slap your own face! Don't stop unless Grace tells you to!"
Amber had heard plenty of scary things about the General, but she'd never experienced it herself.
Amber broke out in a cold sweat. Hearing Shannon's words was like music to her ears. She scrambled up and staggered outside on shaky legs.
Soon, the sound of slapping echoed from outside: "Smack! Smack!"
Bianca Whiteshire fell silent, not saying another word to Grace.
After the meal, as they left, Amber was still slapping herself.
She'd been at it for ages—the sound was loud, but her face didn't have a single mark. Clearly, she was just pretending.
Still, Grace finally let her stop.
After all, she was a member of the White family.
Shannon had helped her a lot. Even if she ignored everyone else, she couldn't ignore Shannon, so she wouldn't really hold it against them.
As they left the Commonplace Tea House, Bianca Whiteshire called out to Evan Xiao, "General."
"What is it?" Evan Xiao looked at her.
"When Shannon was at home, I overheard her asking Father about the Frostbound Casket. Is it you who needs the Frostbound Casket?"
Evan Xiao's brows twitched. "Yes."
"Actually, I know quite a lot about it. Would you like to hear?"
"If Miss Bianca is willing to enlighten me, I'd be more than grateful."
Bianca glanced around and said, "This is something I can only tell you. There's a tea house over there—why don't we go?"
The Frostbound Casket was the White family's treasure. It was normal not to let others overhear.
Evan Xiao nodded and went with her to the tea house.
Grace (Qingluan), Leon Zane (Li Zan), and Shannon (Shan'er) waited at the door for them.
"Shannon (Shan'er)," Grace (Qingluan) called out as she walked over.
"Grace (Qingluan), what's up?"
Grace (Qingluan) took her hand and said, "Sorry, did Bianca's drama make things awkward for you?"
Shannon (Shan'er) smiled. "Don't worry, I'm not bothered at all."
Grace was surprised. "What do you mean?"
"I mean... she's her and I'm me." Shannon (Shan'er)'s face flashed with indifference. "Actually, when I saw you kick her to the ground yesterday, I felt pretty great!"
"Huh?"
Shannon (Shan'er) gave a sarcastic smile and said, "In any family, as long as there are legitimate and illegitimate children, there will be war. And the bigger the family, the more brutal and cruel the fight."
Grace (Qingluan) nodded. "That's true."
