Impending Return

1/18/2026

Hearing the system prompt in his mind, Ian Song finally understood: the hidden quest was to kill an Immortal, but the quest rating was only "ordinary"—probably because he only indirectly caused the Immortal's death.

"Ding. For the next ten days, the host may return at any time. After ten days, forced return will be initiated!"

"Finally, I can go back!"

Ian Song let out a heavy breath.

"Congratulations, Master! You’ve slain an Immortal—your fame will spread across the entire Ten-Yao Continent now!"

Ricky the Rat King flew up, his face full of excitement as he eagerly flattered Ian.

"Congratulations, Master!"

Tiger King also flew up, his face full of shock and admiration.

Then, the rest of his subordinates stepped forward one after another to offer their congratulations.

Ian Song waved his hand, and everyone instinctively fell silent.

He didn’t get lost in the joy of slaying an Immortal. Instead, he calmly analyzed, "This time, that demon Immortal’s death was pure luck. If another one appeared, I’d probably be the one dead. And once this news gets out, the Red Dragon Demon Kingdom will definitely launch a crazy counterattack. So, our campaign against the Black Tortoise Demon Domain stops here. Now, go and have all non–form-taking demon cultivators disperse. Any form-taking ones who want to follow me can stay; those who don’t can leave right away!"

"Huh?"

Everyone was shocked to hear Ian Song was stopping the campaign against the Black Tortoise Demon Domain. After all, with the morale from slaying an Immortal, the army was more fired up than ever. If they kept attacking, their efficiency would definitely soar.

But Ian Song’s orders could not be disobeyed, so they quickly relayed the command to the entire army.

In just one hour, the ten-million-strong army was down to about 2.3 million. That meant even 400,000 form-taking demon cultivators had chosen to leave.

With a casual wave, Ian Song opened a gigantic space-time portal.

At Ian Song’s command, all 2.3 million form-taking demon soldiers passed through the portal into the Divine Temple.

Inside the Divine Temple, there were countless planets, and the temple constantly absorbed spiritual energy from the void. Now, the spiritual energy inside was on par with the Southsky Continent, making it a perfect place for so many demon cultivators to cultivate in peace.

After he put all the demon cultivators into the Divine Temple—

Ian Song rushed toward the passage. Time was short—he had to get back to the Southsky Continent as fast as possible.

After several rounds of Great Teleportation, Ian Song finally reached the passage after half an hour.

Sensing his presence, the ghost-faced spider was startled and quickly appeared, bowing respectfully but with a hint of worry in his expression: "I didn’t know you were coming, my lord. Forgive me for not welcoming you sooner!"

"Relax, I’m not here to cause trouble. Farewell!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Ian Song turned into a streak of light and shot into the undersea passage.

Eager to get home, Ian Song crossed the passage in just fifteen minutes. He didn’t bother pursuing the demon spy who’d leaked his whereabouts earlier—once out, he immediately used Great Teleportation toward the capital.

Half an hour after Ian Song returned to Southsky, six demon Immortals suddenly appeared at the site of his battle with Immortal Yutu.

In fact, the moment the Eye of Heavenly Punishment appeared, all the Immortals on the Ten-Yao Continent sensed it. So, each of them carefully concealed their auras to avoid being targeted by the Eye, while secretly guessing which fellow Immortal had unleashed their true power and triggered its arrival.

Even after the Eye of Heavenly Punishment disappeared, the Immortals still didn’t dare rush to the Black Tortoise Demon Domain right away. It was over two hours after the Eye vanished before six demon Immortals from the Red Dragon Demon Kingdom finally arrived together.

"That’s Immortal Yutu’s aura!"

One of the demon Immortals caught the lingering aura in the void and said, "His aura is thick with death. He must have met with disaster!"

The other five Immortals all looked grim at those words. One of them shouted angrily, "What happened? Why did Immortal Yutu unleash his true power and bring down the Eye of Heavenly Punishment?"

Even without using their true power, these Immortals could kill late Tribulation-stage cultivators with a flick of their finger.

Just then, one Immortal suddenly vanished—and reappeared holding three form-taking demon cultivators.

The next moment, three beams of black light shot from his eyes into the foreheads of the three demon cultivators. Instantly, all three became dazed.

A moment later—

The Immortal tossed aside the now-mindless demon cultivators and said, "I used the Great Soulsearch Technique to scan their souls. Take a look!"

As he spoke, the Immortal waved his hand, and an image appeared in the void—starting from the moment Immortal Yutu showed up before the army.

When the playback ended, all six demon Immortals looked deeply shocked and conflicted.

Immortal Yutu really did die under the Eye of Heavenly Punishment. But if that human hadn’t delayed him from entering the ascension channel, he could’ve ascended to the Immortal Realm before the Eye struck.

And that human was clearly only at early Combined-Body stage, but his strength far surpassed Tribulation-stage—and he even managed to injure Immortal Yutu’s Immortal soul.

That was truly shocking.

After a moment, one of the demon Immortals spoke gravely: "For our demon race, having such a young human expert is a disaster. Once he reaches Tribulation stage, he’ll have the power to truly slay Immortals. He cannot be allowed to live!"

Another Immortal sighed, "Indeed, the human race has incredible fortune to produce such a formidable youth. Let’s return to the demon kingdom and report this to the others before deciding what to do."

The next moment, all six demon Immortals vanished from the scene.

Back at the Song Residence, Ian Song summoned Lila Li, Wendy Lin, and Diana Toba.

"I’m leaving this world. Are you willing to come with me?" Ian asked the three women directly.

"Wherever you go, husband, I’ll go," Lila Li said solemnly.

"Hmph, don’t even think about leaving me behind," Diana Toba said.

"I want to stay by Brother Song’s side too," Wendy Lin said.

Ian Song had already known they would follow him, but hearing them say it out loud still moved him deeply.

"Song Lang, are you not from this world?"

Diana Toba asked curiously.

Ian Song briefly explained his origins, leaving the three women amazed.

"Alright, we must leave this world within ten days at most. So, send away the servants and maids from the residence, and try to give them extra spirit crystals. I have something else to take care of outside!"

With those words, Ian Song headed straight to the residence where the Jade Maiden Sect disciples lived.

He hadn’t yet fully defined his relationship with Lena Ling, so he wasn’t sure if she’d leave with him. Strangely, Lena wasn’t in the residence, so he found Leah Ling to ask about her whereabouts.

"Hehe, Senior Sister Lena is probably drinking at Falling Goose Pavilion!" Leah Ling said.

Hearing this, Ian Song was speechless. He headed straight for Falling Goose Pavilion and indeed found Lena Ling there, already half drunk.

"Eh? Second Fool, what are you doing here?"

"Senior Sister, I need to talk to you."

Ian Song’s face darkened. He grabbed Lena Ling and vanished from the tavern.
