What About Me

Evan Xiao's demeanor softened as he glanced at her lips and said, "Your mouth is as sweet as honey. Feeling guilty, aren't you?"

"Guilty about what? I'm telling the truth!" Grace retorted. "Didn't you see the way those female spirit alchemists looked at you when you came up the mountain today? Each one of them was totally lovestruck! Hmph!"

Evan Xiao chuckled, let go of her, and said, "Last night, I thought about something for a long time. There's something I'm curious about."

"What are you curious about?"

"In your previous life, was it just Henry Tuoba and Colin Gu?" Evan Xiao asked her. "What about me?"

"You... of course you were! Didn't I tell you? At Shuiyue Nunnery... you and I... That's how I found out that sleeping with you could help me grow a spiritual root."

"If what you say is true, I definitely would have found you. Did I never look for you?"

After they became husband and wife, Grace would have residual dragon energy on her.

Even if it was just to keep their whereabouts secret, Evan would have found Grace and sealed the dragon energy.

Grace glared at him angrily and shook her head.

"Impossible," Evan Xiao said. "I must have looked for you, or maybe I just couldn't find you."

"Who knows!" Grace rolled her eyes.

"So... besides that one time, was there really nothing else between us?"

"Well, I wouldn't say there was nothing else..." Grace said. "There was..."

"What else?"

"I was pregnant with your child."

Evan Xiao was stunned, and after a long moment, he asked, "What?"

"It was because I was pregnant that Colin Gu sent me away to be a hostage," Grace said.

"...Did you give birth to the child?"

"Of course!" Grace replied. "He grew up to be in his twenties. Later... in the last life, you even met him!"

"That makes it even more impossible!" Evan Xiao said decisively.

His son would also be of dragon descent—how could he meet him and not recognize him?

"What do you mean impossible!" Grace was annoyed. "That's just how it is! If you don't believe me, go ask Henry Tuoba—he knows everything!"

Evan Xiao didn't say anything.

He felt there had to be more to the story.

How did he end up as the guy who—forced a girl, then just ignored her like a jerk?

He wasn't that kind of person.

"What about this time?" Evan Xiao looked at her belly. "Why aren't there any kids?"

"You want me to give birth to some random kid?" Grace said bluntly. "I've been taking birth control."

Evan Xiao frowned.

Just then, Sam Summers came over and told Grace that the inspection of Soulveil Sand was complete, and Vice President Conrad needed her signature.

"Alright, I'll be right there!" Grace said. "General, I'll go handle this—you wait for me here."

Evan Xiao nodded.

But just as Grace left, someone else showed up.

Evan Xiao frowned and turned around, seeing a young woman.

She wasn't tall, but she had a delicate, pretty face.

"Sorry, I didn't know the General was here." The woman said sweetly, her eyes sparkling with a smile.

"Leave," Evan Xiao said curtly, turning away to look into the distance as if this was his territory.

"Is the General enjoying the view?" The woman—Lily Xu—walked gracefully over to stand behind Evan Xiao.

Evan Xiao's expression grew colder.

"I heard the General and our President are engaged," Lily Xu said. "Have you heard anything about the President?"

"What about her?" Since it was about Grace, Evan Xiao asked.

"Well, it's not really my business," Lily Xu said. "But since we met here at the Scenic Overlook, it must be fate. So there are some things I just have to say!"
