He Won't Let Me Up

After a pause, she said angrily, "Logically, with a fiancé as outstanding as you, President should be satisfied! But she still keeps ambiguous relationships with a bunch of men!"

As she said this, she sensed the man's aura suddenly turn much colder.

She chuckled and continued, "In the Alliance, she's very close with several Spirit Alchemists, often hanging out with them late into the night!

And her relationship with Emperor Henry is also unusual! Last time, the Emperor came and stayed in her room for a full two hours! Just the two of them—who knows what they were doing in there!"

Feeling Evan Xiao's aura grow even colder, she didn't dare get too close, so she took a few steps back and went on, "What's worse, rumor has it she hooked up with our President Bai while studying at the Spirit Alliance Headquarters! Last time President Bai even came looking for her! The two of them were acting awfully suspicious!

General, someone like you is a true dragon among men—how could you marry a woman like that? I advise you—ah!"

Suddenly, Lily Xu's vision blurred, and she found herself wrapped in a sharp spiritual force, dangling over the edge of a cliff!

"Ah! Ah!" Lily Xu screamed, her face drained of color. "General! I was just trying to tell you her true colors—what are you doing?!"

Evan Xiao let go.

"Help!" Lily Xu shrieked as she plummeted straight down.

But she was a Spirit Master, Seventh Rank, so as she fell, she managed to grab the edge of the cliff and hung there.

Then, she tried to climb back up.

However, with one twist, she realized she couldn't move.

An invisible force was pressing her body down.

"General!" Lily Xu looked down at the bottomless cliff, trembling and crying, "I don't dare say anymore, please let me back up! I really don't dare!"

Grace happened to return and saw this scene.

Lily Xu looked like a crab hanging off the cliff, her face flushed red, limbs flailing, eyes full of terror.

"Huh? Lily Xu? What are you doing here? What's going on?" Grace walked over and asked.

"President! President Zhu! Please let me back up! Please! I don't want to die!" Lily Xu begged her for help.

"Just climb up, then. I didn't stop you, did I?" Grace said.

"It's the General—he... he won't let me up."

Grace glanced at Evan Xiao, "What are you doing?"

Evan Xiao looked at Lily Xu and asked, "Want to come up?"

"Yes! Please spare me, General!"

"Apologize."

"I'm sorry, General! I'm sorry!" Lily Xu sobbed, tears and snot streaming down her face.

"Apologize to Grace."

"Pre... President, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made things up! Please, have mercy and spare me!"

"Made things up..." Grace got it, nodded, and said, "So what did you say? Tell me."

Lily Xu gritted her teeth and repeated everything she'd just said.

Grace listened and burst out laughing, "Wow, you're good! Mixing truth and lies, and you make it all sound so convincing!"

"I was wrong! I really was! I shouldn't have repeated rumors! And I really shouldn't have brought unverified gossip to the General." Lily Xu said. "I won't ever do it again!"

"Let me ask you one thing—if you answer honestly, I'll let you go, okay?" Grace asked.

"Ask me anything, President! I'll tell you everything!"

"That painting—was it your doing?" Grace asked.

"Painting? What painting?" Lily Xu looked totally confused.
