General Evan Xiao Makes a Small Sacrifice

But Rina Chu, oblivious to the mood, sidled up to Grace and said, "General, did you know? Today, before dawn, our President gathered all the cleaning staff."

"Rina, there's plenty to do in the pharmacy. You should hurry up and get going!" Grace quickly covered her mouth and tried to push her out.

But Rina Chu's strength was way above Grace's—she easily pried Grace's hand away and went on, "She made those staff clean Spirit Alliance Mountain from top to bottom. Goodness! The floors are so spotless you could roll around on them! We were all wondering what she was up to, and turns out—"

"Rina Chu! If you don't talk, nobody's going to think you're mute!" Grace opened the door and shoved her out. "Go back to work! All you do is eat and never lift a finger!"

Rina Chu burst out laughing, practically doubling over.

Grace couldn't keep her composure and shot her a threatening look before slamming the door shut with a bang.

She went back and sat down in front of Evan Xiao, who looked perfectly serious as he asked, "You kicked them all out and closed the door—what exactly are you planning?"

Grace glanced at the door. "Huh?"

"If someone sees us, they'll think this General is up to something indecent!" Evan Xiao reminded her.

Grace silently got up and went to open the door.

Evan Xiao grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace, saying, "Since you went to all this trouble to welcome your husband, this General doesn't mind sacrificing himself a little."

Grace didn't say a word, just shot him a sideways glance.

Evan Xiao found her especially adorable like this and leaned in to kiss her cheek.

Grace raised her hand to block him. "What are you doing?"

"Fulfilling your wish."

Grace's eyes widened, her face instantly turning bright red. "What wish are you fulfilling?"

"Fulfilling your wish to spend some alone time with your husband," Evan Xiao said. "What did you think I meant?"

"You... Didn't you say you wanted to go to Cangjing Terrace? Let's go! I'll take you!" She stood up and deliberately opened the door.

She hadn't thought much of it before, but after what he said, she really felt awkward about keeping the door closed.

It was like she'd brought him here to do something scandalous...

Honestly, she only closed the door when she was shooing Rina Chu out, worried she'd start blabbing nonsense.

She really didn't mean anything else...

Evan Xiao saw how guilty she looked and couldn't help but smile.

...

Cangjing Terrace.

Evan Xiao and Grace stood on the cliffside platform, gazing out at the beautiful scenery.

The mountain was covered in blooming flowers and lush green trees, with golden birds chirping and darting through the air—a truly delightful sight.

"This place is really well named—Cangjing Terrace. From the back, it looks ordinary, but once you round the rocks and come here, the view is absolutely stunning," Evan Xiao said.

Grace nodded. "The view here really is amazing."

"Do you and Henry Tuoba come here to enjoy the scenery often?"

Grace answered cautiously, "...Not often."

"What do you mean, not often? Once or twice? Three or four times?"

Grace: "Uh... Maybe a dozen times..."

Evan Xiao looked at her, then suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her in front of him. "A dozen times?"

Grace felt like he might toss her off the cliff, so she quickly said, "But even though I came here a lot before, it always felt ordinary. Only today did I realize how breathtaking it really is!"

"Is that so?"

Grace nodded, looking at his face. "Beautiful view, beautiful man—it's a feast for the eyes!"

"Beautiful man?" Evan Xiao raised an eyebrow.

"You, of course!" Grace hooked her arms around his neck. "You're my beautiful man!"
