Battle Against the Darkling King

1/19/2026

Seeing the gigantic Darkling King appear, Evan Chu’s heart jolted—this was surely the final monster of this place, and its aura was the most powerful he’d ever encountered, far surpassing even Shangguan Ruhuo. Damn, just facing this thing already makes my blood boil. But so what? I, Evan Chu, have never backed down from a fight!

Taking down this freak is going to be hell—especially with hundreds of those scythes waving like a storm in the dark, each one gleaming coldly, enough to chill even a battle-hardened cultivator to the bone. But Evan Chu just gritted his teeth. If I was afraid of this, what kind of underdog would I be?

Evan Chu frantically circulated Chaos Immortal Force within his body. Now that he’d mastered dark element, he no longer feared dark miasma—even if the opponent unleashed a Dark Abyss Domain, it couldn’t threaten him anymore. He hadn’t formally cultivated Dark Transformation yet, but with the power roaring inside him, Evan Chu was confident: darkness couldn’t touch him. He was ready to face whatever came.

The damaged parts of his body were rapidly repairing. At that moment, the Darkling King stared at Evan and said, “You managed to kill my three great generals, so you do have some strength. But if you think you can leave here alive, you’re dreaming. I’ll show you what true power is.”

As soon as it finished speaking, the monster charged at Evan, hundreds of scythes whirling like a thousand-armed idol, unleashing countless blades of sword-qi throughout the space—most of them aimed straight at Evan.

Evan Chu raised the Frostbane Divine Sword, poured in Chaos Immortal Force, and slashed out with Star-Cleave. The sword blazed with light, unleashing a sword-qi beam nearly twenty meters long to meet the attack head-on. This was the power that set him apart from every so-called genius in the Immortal Realm.

Boom! The deafening crash echoed through the space, sending violent ripples everywhere—the whole domain twisted and warped as if on the verge of shattering, energy storms raging in all directions.

That strike ended in a draw—Evan and the Darkling King were both blasted back dozens of meters before steadying themselves, each staring at the other in shock at the other's attack power.

"You really are an expert. But you’re still no match for me—the Darkling race is not something a lowly human like you could ever defeat. Let me show you the true power of dark miasma." the Darkling King said.

"Hey, you old fossil—you’ve been living underground for tens of thousands of years and you’re still this clueless? If I dared to come here, do you really think I’d be scared of you? You’d better hand over the Darkness Spirit Pearl obediently, or you’ll be the only one dying here. My patience isn’t unlimited," Evan Chu scoffed, his eyes blazing with defiance. "If you want to see what real courage looks like, keep pushing me."

How could a king, high and mighty, tolerate being insulted by a mere human? The Darkling King instantly flew into a rage, unleashing a surge of powerful dark miasma as his domain expanded, all of it attacking Evan at once.

Domains were the thing that frustrated Evan most—almost every Immortal could wield one, but he still couldn’t. He wondered if Luna and Roxanne had domains, and just thinking of them made his heart tighten with worry.

His body was instantly immobilized, unable to move at all. This old monster’s strength was truly late-stage Immortal Emperor—maybe even half a step into the God Realm, just hiding underground instead of ascending.

It felt like a ten-thousand-jin weight pressing down on him—Evan could barely breathe, his facial muscles twisted in agony, and sweat poured off him like rain. All he could do was grit his teeth and endure.

Soon, a mass of dark miasma even denser than before appeared before Evan. But he didn’t flinch—the dark segment of his Element Core Pearl flashed, and the miasma was sucked straight into his dantian, where it gradually vanished.

If you looked closely, the dark segment on the Element Core Pearl had deepened a bit. But the crushing pressure on his body didn’t let up—he was still on the verge of being flattened.

"I have to communicate with the dark element directly. Now that I’ve basically mastered it, I should be able to pull this off," Evan Chu muttered to himself, refusing to show even a hint of weakness. In this world, only those who dared the impossible could survive.

He spread out his divine sense, slowly reaching out to the countless dark element particles in the space. With experience communicating with other elements, it didn’t take him long to succeed.

The Darkling King was shocked to see Evan absorb his dark miasma directly. He knew better than anyone how corrosive it was—even metal would be eaten clean. Yet this kid was completely fine, making the king realize just how extraordinary Evan was.

"Kid, I didn’t expect you could actually devour my dark miasma. I really underestimated you. But if you think you can survive, you’re just dreaming!" the Darkling King roared.

Evan Chu didn’t waste any time trading words—he was busy communicating with the dark element. Once he succeeded, the crushing pressure would vanish naturally, and the monster’s domain would become useless against him. Every second counted. If he slipped up now, he might never see Luna or Serena again. His heart hammered in his chest, but he refused to back down.

Still, the Darkling King was shocked that Evan could stand motionless under the domain’s pressure. Its body shifted and suddenly rushed at Evan.

Evan’s heart skipped a beat—this guy could attack while maintaining its domain, which was almost unheard of. Normally, attacking meant the domain would be released, but on closer look, he realized the king’s true body hadn’t moved at all—the attacker was actually a clone.

Monsters could use clones now? The world really was changing. At this critical moment, just as the giant scythe was about to split Evan in two, he finally achieved resonance with the dark element.

At the last possible second, he used Shifting Position to narrowly dodge the devastating blow—his back was drenched in sweat. If he’d been a second slower, that scythe would’ve chopped him clean in half. Danger stacked on danger.

Dodging the clone’s attack, Evan Chu swung the Frostbane Divine Sword in a swift slash. The clone’s strength was between early and mid-stage Immortal Emperor, and it couldn’t withstand Star-Cleave’s power—a single blow sent it flying hundreds of meters before crashing to the ground, unable to get up. Evan Chu sneered. If this was all the so-called Darkling King could do, then it was nothing but a stepping stone on his path.

The Darkling King’s whole body shuddered—the clone vanished instantly, but his true body seemed heavily wounded, roaring at the sky in fury.

"Kid, how dare you harm my clone! Today, this king will see you dead!" the Darkling King thundered.

"Dead, my ass! You’ve said that a dozen times already—I’m getting bored. Can’t you try something new? Like surrendering, begging for mercy, or bowing down? I’d enjoy that way more," Evan Chu shot back, a wild grin on his face. "If you really want to impress me, show some creativity before you lose!"

At that moment, the king’s aura surged, making Evan Chu feel more and more threatened. He knew the monster was about to go all out, so he couldn’t afford to hold back. He still had enough Chaos Immortal Force to use Divine Cleave one more time—he’d let the king taste the true terror of his strongest sword art. This was the showdown. Win or die, Evan Chu would never kneel!
