Did You Know You Lost Your Memory

Actually, the exam questions they set were basically Level Three or Four material, with just a few tricky bits that barely touched on Level Five.

Duke Winston Wood making her take the Level Five exam was obviously just to make things hard for her.

But Grace just smiled and said, "Sure! If I can't pass the Level Five Spiritual Alchemist exam, then call it cheating! I'll quit the Spirit Alliance myself!"

Jun Lionhead glanced at Grace when he heard this, his brows twitching slightly.

After a pause, Grace looked at Lily Xu and added, "But if I pass the Level Five Spiritual Alchemist exam, Lily Xu, you'll have to kneel down and apologize to me and my mentor in front of everyone at the Spirit Alliance conference!

Lily Xu's face changed, but before she could speak, Duke Winston Wood jumped in, "Deal! Fine! That's settled!"

Lily Xu shot Duke Winston Wood a look, bit her lip, and stayed silent.

......

When they left, Jun Lionhead asked Grace to get into his carriage.

"Master." Grace sat across from him, her hands folded on her lap, looking perfectly well-behaved.

"Go ahead, talk." Jun Lionhead said.

"Say... what?"

"I never taught you anything about Level Five Spiritual Alchemist stuff," Jun Lionhead said. "I haven't even started teaching you anything yet!"

But it was you who taught me...

Grace fiddled with the edge of her sleeve, not sure how to explain.

"Not talking?"

"I'll talk!" Grace shot him a glance. "Actually... did you know you lost your memory?"

"What?" Jun Lionhead was stunned.

"Back then, you taught me before. My skills are basically at Eighth Tier now. My cooking, tea-making, all sorts of things—you taught me." Grace said. "Then you lost your memory and forgot about me. I had to become your apprentice all over again..."

Jun Lionhead thought for a moment, then chuckled: "I lost my memory? How come I didn't know that?"

"People with amnesia never know they've lost their memory..."

"Nonsense!"

Grace shivered. "It's true! If you don't believe me... I can make the Genesis Core Pill you invented! You said nobody else could do it but you."

Jun Lionhead looked at her suspiciously.

The Genesis Core Pill really was his secret recipe.

How could Grace possibly know how to make it?

After a moment's thought, Jun Lionhead said, "Let's go to Full Moon Manor and give it a try."

"Okay!" Grace nodded.

Grace needed to save her mother, so she had to go all out—there was no time for baby steps.

But everything she knew, she learned from her master.

That included a lot of his secret recipes and tricks.

After a while, he was bound to get suspicious.

Grace had spent ages thinking before coming up with this way to fool him.

Jun Lionhead could be a little scatterbrained sometimes.

Like, he'd be in the middle of something and suddenly just freeze.

Grace would ask him what was wrong.

He'd say the situation felt familiar, like he'd done it before.

Honestly, everyone gets that feeling sometimes.

But with Jun Lionhead, it happened a lot more often.

He'd joke that it was probably just because he was getting old...

So Grace decided to take a risk and claim he'd lost his memory—maybe she'd really manage to fool him...

Full Moon Manor was on the outskirts of the city.

It was pretty big, built up against the mountains.

There was a natural lake in the manor, and oddly enough, no matter where the moon was in the sky, its reflection never showed up in the water.

Only on the night of the full moon could you see the moon's reflection in the lake.

That's how it got the name: Full Moon Manor.

Master and apprentice headed to the alchemy room.

Grace got started on the pill-making.
