Lucas Lin was extremely professional.
Whenever he felt something wasn't right, he'd proactively request a reshoot.
With Lucas Lin setting the pace, everyone at the filming location became much more efficient.
The shoot, originally scheduled for three days, was wrapped up in just one.
That meant Lucas Lin had two days off to make good use of.
The second commercial was in the works, with the crew rushing to set up the venue. Since it involved outdoor scenes, everyone was busy coordinating.
Rona Muir, being the president, naturally didn't bother with these details.
She only cared about the final product.
When work wrapped up that evening, Lucas Lin came over wrapped in a bath towel to find Rona Muir. "Rona, are you busy tonight?"
"Not really," Rona Muir thought for a moment. She honestly didn't have anything major going on.
Cici Grant and Molly Yun were both mysteriously busy, Lucas Mu had been sent off to his grandma's place, Jiro Hirayama hadn't come back yet—so Rona was home all by herself.
She’d just be eating and resting by herself anyway.
Lucas Lin looked a little embarrassed and said, "Um, could I ask you for a favor? I just got word that the two crews I’m working with will be shooting at a film city near Newport. The company doesn’t want me staying at a hotel—too much back-and-forth—so they rented me a temporary apartment. But I don’t have time to check it out. Could you go for me? Also, I’d rather not let too many people know I’m here, so…"
Rona Muir nodded. "Got it. I’ll go myself. Don’t worry, I won’t hand this off to my assistant."
Lucas Lin’s eyes lit up with excitement. "That’s really kind of you. Thank you so much!"
To be honest, Lucas Lin’s request was a bit much.
After all, Rona Muir was the company president. For her to personally handle a minor task like this—aside from Cici Grant, Molly Yun, and Lucas Mu, no one else could expect such special treatment.
But Rona had a really good impression of Lucas Lin, and since she had nothing else on her plate, she agreed.
This also let Lucas Lin gauge his standing in Rona Muir’s heart.
Clearly, it wasn’t bad at all.
Lucas Lin knew he was on the right track.
Rona Muir drove herself to the location Lucas had specified.
Sure enough, someone was waiting there to give her the keys.
"Ms. Muir?" The person seemed surprised. "Why is it you?"
"Oh, I'm picking up the keys for someone else." Rona smiled. "It's you? I heard Cici and Molly came to buy a place from you a few days ago?"
"Yes." The other person answered with a friendly smile. "A friend of Ms. Yun bought a villa from me, and Ms. Yun and Ms. Gu helped finalize the purchase."
Rona accepted the keys with a smile. "Business is booming!"
"Thank you for your kind words." The person became even more polite. "Since you're here, I'll upgrade your friend's property management and security for free. Don't worry, our security is top-notch."
"I believe it." Rona nodded with a smile. "Thanks a lot!"
Rona took the keys and headed to the apartment area.
With the enthusiastic help of the property manager, she finally found Lucas Lin's temporary residence.
Unit 1213 in Building B.
A spacious apartment on the second-to-last floor.
It had a huge terrace and an outdoor swimming pool.
Four bedrooms and two living rooms—more than enough space for one person.
After entering, Rona looked around and nodded, saying to the property manager, "It's pretty nice. Okay, you can go about your work now. I'll just wait here."
The property manager said enthusiastically, "Ms. Muir, if you need anything, just call property management. No matter what service you need, we'll be there promptly."
"Alright, I understand." Rona nodded.
After the property manager left, Rona first checked the kitchen and found that the fridge was already stocked with some fresh fruit. Truly thoughtful.
Still, Rona called property management and asked them to buy some easy-to-heat food, so Lucas would have options if he got hungry in the middle of the night.
She then checked the bedroom, study, home theater, and tea room—everything was arranged in perfect order.
It wasn’t long before someone knocked on the door.
Rona Muir saw it was Lucas Lin’s manager, leading a group of people who brought in everything Lucas might need during his stay.
"President Muir, thank you so much!" The manager beamed at Rona, his face all smiles. "We only managed to rent such a great place thanks to your reputation—and we even got a twenty percent discount on the rent! We really appreciate it!"
"No problem, it’s what I should do." Rona picked up the scissors and carefully trimmed the flower stems, arranging them slowly.
In no time, the manager and assistant had filled the once-empty apartment with everything needed.
Rona used to think she had plenty of clothes, but seeing Lucas Lin’s closets packed full, she realized young men these days could rival anyone!
Once they finished, the manager and assistant politely said their goodbyes.
Rona checked the time, hesitating over whether to cook a meal for Lucas Lin, when he returned from outside.
"Rona, sorry I’m late." Lucas Lin greeted her with such familiarity, it felt as if they were family.
"No problem, you’re right on time." Rona smiled. "Hungry? Want to—"
"Let me cook for you." Lucas Lin quickly interrupted. "First meal in a new home can’t be careless! Just give me a moment, I’ll have it ready soon."
Rona was about to stop him, but Lucas Lin had already dashed into the kitchen, busy as could be.
What a sincere kid!
Lucas Lin really didn’t make Rona wait long—just over half an hour, and he’d already whipped up a whole table of home-style dishes.
Nothing fancy or colorful, just simple stir-fried dishes.
All of it was prepared for Rona, while he himself just had some pitiful boiled greens and a handful of nuts.
Rona looked at Lucas Lin’s meal and asked, "You eat this every day?"
"Before and after shoots, I always eat this plain," Lucas Lin said, a little embarrassed. "Besides that, I have to work out daily to keep my muscle ratio."
Rona looked at him with sympathy.
Being an actor really isn’t easy!
Even eating feels like a battle.
Thank goodness she hadn’t chosen that career—being a female CEO suited her much better.
Lucas Lin noticed the sympathy in Rona’s eyes, and of course he wouldn’t miss such a great opportunity. He immediately looked at her pitifully: "So, weak and helpless as I am, could I ask the wise and decisive President Muir to go easy on me during the commercial shoot? Let me pass in one take, please??"
Rona couldn’t help but laugh, tapping Lucas Lin on the forehead. "Naughty! If you get your state right, you’ll pass in one take. I don’t interfere with the filming process."
"Well, if that’s not possible, how about you play tour guide for me tomorrow and the day after? Show me around Newport? You won’t turn down that request, will you?" Lucas Lin said slyly.
Rona burst out laughing again.
This guy was definitely playing hard to get.
Tomorrow, the day after… Hmm, she didn’t have much planned, and it was the weekend anyway—a perfect chance to relax.
"Alright," Rona said with a smile. "I’ll show you around tomorrow. Honestly, Newport isn’t that different from other ancient cities."
Lucas Lin smiled at Rona.
No, it was different.
Because she was here, everything was different.
After dinner, Lucas Lin insisted Rona not lift a finger—he quickly cleared the table and washed all the dishes.
Carrying out a plate of fruit, Lucas Lin was about to invite Rona to eat when he saw her picking up her bag, ready to leave.
A trace of disappointment flickered in Lucas Lin’s eyes. "You’re leaving already? Won’t you stay a bit longer?"
"No, you’ve had a tough shoot today. Get some rest early." Rona smiled. "You ate so little and worked so hard—don’t push yourself."
Warmth filled Lucas Lin’s eyes.
Everyone else only cared about his looks, his weight, his acting skills—no one ever asked if he was tired.
Only Rona would say something like that to him.
Sure enough, the person you like is always different.
Lucas Lin didn’t try to make Rona stay; he just nodded obediently. "Alright, be careful on your way home. I’ll wait for you here tomorrow! I’ll be waiting!"
Rona looked at his gentle gaze, unable to resist the urge to pat his head.
She thought about it, but held back.
Rona smiled, nodded, and turned to leave.
Lucas Lin stared blankly at her departing figure, lost in thought for a long time before he looked away.
He slumped onto the sofa, grabbed his hair, and couldn’t help but question himself.
If one day his feelings for Rona really got out of control, could he ever go back to the way he was before?
He didn’t know.
He really had no idea.
At that moment, Rona had no idea about Lucas Lin’s feelings for her—they weren’t just friendly, but something unspoken between a man and a woman.
On her drive home, Jiro Hirayama called: "Nana, my experiment’s hit a bottleneck. I’m afraid I won’t finish in the week I promised you."
Seeing Jiro Hirayama’s dark circles in the video call, caused by his busy experiments, Rona couldn’t say much.
"Got it, health comes first," Rona sighed. "Isn’t Amy helping you?"
"Her? That idiot—she can’t even handle the simplest experiments, just records my data." Jiro Hirayama complained mercilessly. "My assistant at home is way more useful. If it weren’t such a hassle, I’d have transferred my assistant here ages ago."
Hearing Jiro Hirayama grumble about Amy, Rona felt quietly reassured.
With him complaining like that, nothing should go wrong, right?
"Ahhh, that idiot—what is she doing now?" Jiro Hirayama’s anxious voice came over the phone. "I’ll talk to you later, she almost ruined my test sample. I need to go teach her a lesson!"
