The Innocent Flower Strategy

The call was hung up.

Jiro Hirayama was truly furious. He pointed at the pile of garbage on the ground and roared, "Amy, what is going on here? Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on these test subjects?"

Amy stood to the side, looking at Jiro Hirayama with a pitiful expression, her hands nervously clasped. "I really did watch them! I didn't know they'd try to run out, so in a panic I used the spray to drive them back. Who knew they'd just stop moving all of a sudden!"

"Aaaah!" Jiro Hirayama stomped his feet in anger. "My bugs!"

These were the bugs he needed for his experiment!

And just like that, Amy killed them with her spray!

Amy said guiltily, "Then, I'll go catch some more for you right now. Mr. Hirayama, please don't be mad! I really didn't mean to! I—I'll go now!"

"Wait!" Jiro Hirayama looked at Amy helplessly. How could he have been so blind as to let such an idiot be his temporary assistant?

It really was a disaster!

"I'll go with you," Jiro Hirayama said bitterly. "You have no idea what kind of bugs you need to catch!"

"Alright, alright! Whatever you tell me to catch, I'll catch it. I swear I won't let you down again!" Amy immediately raised her hand and vowed, "I may not be as skilled as Stella Nash, but catching a bug or two is no problem for me!"

"Hmph!" Jiro Hirayama snorted coldly, checked the time—it was just before dawn, the perfect moment to hunt for bugs.

Jiro Hirayama returned to the dorm to change into outdoor gear. Amy also finished getting ready and happily trotted after him.

Stella Nash stood with her arms crossed, supervising poor Sherry Yuan as she did frog jumps with weights. From a distance, she saw Jiro Hirayama and Amy driving out and called out, "Jiro, heading out?"

Jiro Hirayama’s stern expression softened a bit. He nodded to Stella Nash, "Going out to catch some specimens."

Amy looked at Stella Nash with a flattering smile, "Good morning, Miss Stella!"

Stella Nash only glanced at Amy, then said to Jiro Hirayama, "Be careful! This is still base territory, but not every part of it is safe."

Amy quickly replied, "Don’t worry, Miss Stella, I’ll make sure Mr. Hirayama stays safe!"

Stella Nash responded with a calm "Mm-hmm," then ignored them and continued supervising Sherry Yuan’s training.

Ah, she was growing more and more fond of this apprentice.

No matter how tired she got, she never complained. No matter how tough the training, she never rebelled—she just tried her best to do it perfectly.

Ah, such a good apprentice—thank goodness that rascal Beidou never got his hands on her.

Sherry Yuan hopped over, bouncing energetically.

Stella Nash snapped her whip, cracking it hard against the ground, and shouted sternly, "Faster, faster! Are you a snail or something? Move it, move it, move it! If you don’t have enough spring in your step, how can you be a bodyguard? What gives you the right to stand by someone’s side and protect her?"

Sherry Yuan heard this, bit her lip hard, and sped up, bouncing even farther.

Seeing Sherry Yuan’s effort, Stella Nash sat back under the sun umbrella, satisfied, and sipped her juice.

After Amy drove out through the base gate, she said to Jiro Hirayama, "Miss Stella’s temper is getting worse and worse. Sherry is still so young, and she’s being trained so hard—poor girl."

If it were any ordinary guy, hearing Amy talk like this, he’d probably think Stella Nash was ruthless and Amy was full of compassion.

But was Jiro Hirayama an ordinary guy?

Nope, he was a full-blown, incurable chuunibyou!
