You Are Not Qualified to Talk Reason

2/14/2026

"Who the hell are you!"

Leo Li's face instantly darkened. He glared at the doorway, fury blazing in his eyes.

He'd just finished his sentence, only to get cut off—total humiliation.

"I'm the one here to teach you a lesson."

Evan Lin snorted coldly, flicked his wrist, and sent a potted plant flying from the door.

The pot shot through the air with a sharp whoosh, aimed straight at Leo Li.

"You gotta be kidding me!"

Leo Li flinched at the incoming pot, but instead of dodging, he clenched his fist and charged right at it.

He was sure he'd smash it to bits, but the moment his fist landed, he realized something was seriously off.

The pot looked flimsy, but it hit like reinforced steel—unbelievably tough.

"He was the one who hit you?" Evan Lin asked calmly.

Hank Chu, standing beside him, nodded. "Yeah, it was him! He just started a fight with me out of nowhere!"

"You little punk, still got the nerve to call for backup!" Leo Li shook his head, glaring at Hank Chu, his voice full of venom.

"Evan! When did you get back?" Max Ma and Jason Jiang both blurted out in shock.

"None of your damn business," Evan shot them a glance, spitting out the words.

The moment those words left his mouth, both Max Ma and Jason Jiang's faces turned ugly.

Jason Jiang kept quiet—he had no interest in getting involved in this mess.

But Max Ma couldn't help himself. He knew talking to Evan Lin was pointless, so he looked over at Ken Feng, his face darkening. "Ken Feng, you should know this isn't a place you belong. If you piss off these VIPs, your dad will never let you off!"

"You'd better think this through! If you walk away now, maybe I'll put in a good word for you. These big shots are generous—they might just let it slide!"

Max Ma's tone was loaded with threats.

He still didn't really get what kind of big shots these Oceanport heirs were, but his dad had dragged him into the study and drilled it into him: whatever happens, make sure you get on their good side. It could help him get into a top university in Oceanport later.

"Let it slide? Who the hell said we're letting it slide? You lay a hand on Leo Li and think you can just walk away? Dream on!" One of the Oceanport guys jumped up, chair in hand, looking ready to fight.

"Figures, only thugs come out of backwater dumps like this. Never seen anyone walk in and start a fight right off the bat! What, you think you're some kind of badass?" another sneered.

These guys were used to running wild back in Oceanport City. To them, Whitewood County was just a rural backwater—total countryside.

In their eyes, Evan Lin and his friends were just a bunch of country bumpkins.

Country bumpkins challenging city kids?

They really have no clue how the world works!

"Now that's not fair, Max. I'm just standing here, didn't lay a finger on anyone. If you want to blame someone, blame the right guy. Even if you tell my dad, I'll say the same thing—I didn't do anything, so it's none of your business." Ken Feng shook his head repeatedly.

He wasn't really the fighting type—he was just here to back up Evan Lin and Hank Chu.

Max Ma heard this and looked furious, but there was nothing he could do.

"Whether you want to let it go or not is up to you," Evan said coolly, looking at the still-dizzy Leo Li. "But since I'm here, you've got two choices."

"One, kneel down now and apologize to my brother."

"Two, I beat you until you kneel and apologize."

The moment Evan finished, the whole room fell silent in shock.

For Ivy Deng, Amelia Jiao, and the others, this was the first time they'd seen Evan Lin so forceful.

Last time, when Brandon Yang messed with him, Evan just passively put everyone on the floor.

But in their eyes, Evan Lin was always the quiet, bookish type—rarely spoke, always calm, looked like he didn't care about anything.

"That's not fair! If your friend hadn't started the fight, Leo Li wouldn't have gotten involved!" Ivy Deng snapped, glaring at Evan, her anger growing. "Don't you have any sense of reason?"

"Reason? You guys aren't even qualified to talk reason with me," Evan scoffed.

He really was angry now. If he hadn't shown up today, Hank Chu's life could've been ruined—and that was something Evan couldn't tolerate.

"Enough talk! I want to see how you're going to make me kneel and apologize!" Leo Li wiped his mouth, glared at Evan, and started silently reciting his spell.

He might look young, but Leo Li was already a mid-stage Mystic Arts Adept—he knew a few spells. The one he used on Hank Chu earlier was especially vicious.

As he spoke, Leo Li was already chanting under his breath, planning to go for a kill shot on Evan Lin.

Even peak Mystic Arts Adepts need time to prep their spells. Only someone like Master Baiyun Whitecloud, who'd stepped into the Yin-Yang Realm, could cast on a whim.

Ivy Deng knew this, so she was trying to buy time for Leo Li.

But what nobody expected was that Evan Lin just nodded, picked up another potted plant, and hurled it at Leo Li without hesitation.

Bang!

Just like that, Leo Li's spellcasting was completely disrupted halfway through.

The pot smacked him right on the forehead, leaving Leo Li dazed and dizzy.

The next second, everyone saw Evan Lin already striding forward.
