Just now, the wound Hank Chu suffered looked extremely minor at first glance, barely noticeable. But inside that wound, a sinister poison was lurking. If Evan Lin hadn’t given Hank a Nourishing Spirit Pill, within a month Hank would have gradually become a cripple.
Such a vicious, poisonous technique was enough to ignite Evan Lin’s anger.
Gentlemen’s Pavilion.
This was the most meticulously decorated private suite inside the Whitewood Hills Resort. All around, bamboo and flowers were artfully arranged, and at the very center stood a small, elegant artificial mountain, giving the room a distinctly classical vibe.
Inside the suite, a group of people sat around a tea table. At the head of the table, calmly brewing tea, was a young woman with a cool, elegant demeanor—she looked to be about nineteen.
She wore a green dress and, at this moment, was focused and graceful as she brewed the tea, every movement full of elegance and charm.
Seated below her were several others, including Jason Jiang and Max Ma.
But even Jason Jiang, the richest kid in Whitewood, and Max Ma, the county chief’s son, could only sit at the very edge of this group.
“Why has Brother Li been gone so long? Isn’t he just dealing with some kid? Nothing could’ve happened, right?” A boy in a clover-print athletic shirt looked toward the door and asked curiously.
“What could possibly happen to Brother Li? With his skills, even ten people couldn’t lay a finger on him.” Another boy rolled his eyes, clearly unconcerned.
“That’s true. Back in Oceanport City, didn’t Brother Li put a so-called ‘fighting champion’ in the hospital for hitting on Faye Zheng? Three punches and two kicks, and the guy was ruined for life. When Brother Li makes a move, it’s always decisive.”
The group laughed and joked, but these words made Max Ma and Jason Jiang feel a bit uneasy.
“Senior brother’s strength is beyond question. In a small place like Whitewood County, who could possibly hurt him?” Faye Zheng picked up the teapot, poured herself a cup, and gave a mocking laugh, shaking her head.
Her laugh and smile made the boys at the table stare, but none of them dared to harbor any improper thoughts about her.
“That’s right. Both Faye Zheng and Brother Li are Master Yan’s prized disciples. Master Yan is a famous feng-shui expert in Oceanport City and is rumored to have real supernatural powers. With Brother Li and Faye Zheng here, even if some idiot tries something, they’ll get crushed instantly.” Another boy shook his head.
After saying this, he seemed to remember something and turned to Faye Zheng, asking curiously, “Faye, how long are we staying in Whitewood? When we first got here it was pretty fun, but now it’s been almost a month. I’m bored out of my mind.”
“There’s nothing fun in Whitewood anyway. We can’t just stay in this resort every day.”
They’d come to Whitewood a month ago, thinking Faye Zheng was just here for a quick vacation. But she hadn’t left since.
“I don’t know how much longer we’ll be here. Mainly, my mom’s coming, and her goal seems to be inviting someone home for New Year.” Faye Zheng’s eyes flashed with a hint of annoyance as she said this.
“Who could possibly have that much face, making the Zheng family wait a whole month?” someone grumbled, clearly annoyed.
The Zheng family is famous in Oceanport City. For them to send Faye Zheng here just to invite someone home for New Year, and still not succeed after a month—it’s unbelievable.
“Is there really someone in Whitewood County with that kind of status?”
Max Ma and Jason Jiang exchanged glances, both seeing shock and suspicion in each other’s eyes.
“If someone refuses to give face, there’s nothing we can do.” Faye Zheng snorted, then added, “But you don’t have to worry. Soon, the legendary Master Morgan will face off against Master Lin from Seacrest at Thousand-Saints Mountain in Brightsea City.”
“One is a long-established master, the other a rising star. Their battle is the stuff of legends. And I hear Master Lin from Seacrest is not even twenty yet—such talent is unimaginable.”
As she spoke, the arrogance faded from Faye Zheng’s face, replaced by awe and excitement.
“Just being able to witness this battle in person—waiting here for half a year would be worth it.”
Faye Zheng’s words drew unanimous agreement from the group.
They were all rich kids from Oceanport, used to money and power, but when it came to martial masters, their curiosity and admiration only grew.
Just then, the door to the Gentlemen’s Pavilion was pushed open from outside.
As the door opened, two people walked in.
The leader was a heavyset man in a black hoodie with a skull print—Leo Li. Behind him was Shuai Zhang, who’d just been publicly beaten by Hank Chu. Shuai’s face was still bruised, but his expression was full of relief.
“I owe it to Brother Li for teaching Hank Chu a lesson. That punch was so satisfying!” Shuai Zhang said gratefully as soon as he entered, looking at Leo Li.
Leo Li waved him off with a smile. “It was nothing. That kid I just beat—give it a month, and he’ll be bedridden for life.”
“And I didn’t do it for you—I did it for Max Ma’s sake. He’s been pretty generous to us lately.”
Leo Li’s rough voice was full of pride as he sat down.
After getting beaten by Hank Chu, Shuai Zhang had immediately come here for backup. Leo Li, having finished his drink and with nothing better to do, tagged along. Outside, he saw Xiaodie Jiang and Hank Chu talking, so he went straight over and beat Hank Chu, leaving him with a little something extra.
Hearing this, Max Ma felt a rare sense of respect and quickly smiled, “Thanks for giving me face, Brother Li. Whatever everyone wants to eat or drink tonight is on me.”
Then, as if remembering something, Max Ma looked at Leo Li and said, “But Hank Chu has a childhood friend named Evan Lin. He’s pretty strange—and extremely strong…”
Max Ma recalled the day when Yang Binhong brought a whole crowd, only for Evan Lin to take them all down. The memory made him hesitate.
“Don’t worry. If he dares to come, I’ll make sure he walks in and gets carried out flat!” Leo Li waved his hand, full of swagger.
“Walks in and gets carried out?”
“Well, here I am. I want to see how you’ll make me leave flat!”
Bang!
Leo Li hadn’t even finished his sentence.
The door to the Gentlemen’s Pavilion was kicked open from outside.
