I Allowed Him to Film

Gary He rushed over to Ryan Wu's side, glaring at Evan Lin, Hank Chu, and Will Han, anger still burning in his eyes.

"Not bad. You actually dared to mess with my friends. Not bad at all!"

Ryan Wu sneered coldly, nodding as his gaze swept over Hank Chu, Will Han, and Evan Lin, not blinking once.

"Ryan Wu, what are you trying to do?"

Julie Chu sensed trouble and quickly looked at Ryan Wu. "My family's not well-off, and I'm not the prettiest girl here. There are plenty of girls who like you—you can find someone better. Please don't make trouble for me."

Gary He perked up, instantly excited, and dashed toward the security booth at the campus entrance. Meanwhile, Lily Yan didn't hesitate and ran toward the campus security office on the other side.

Guys like Ryan Wu—rich heirs—never had a great reputation on campus. Plus, his family's company is directly tied to the university's job placement stats, so most of the time, school officials side with him.

They split up, each taking a different route.

Seeing Lily Yan and Gary He rush off, Julie Chu grew even more anxious.

"Julie, let me tell you again: I like you. You're irreplaceable. That's one thing."

Ryan Wu glanced at Julie Chu, and seeing how anxious she looked, his anger only grew, layer upon layer.

"I gave him permission to film."

"Another thing—no one can take away what Ryan Wu sets his eyes on. Whether it's people or things, since I was a kid, I've never failed to get what I wanted!"

Ryan Wu's face hardened, and he shouted toward Gary He, "Go get the security guards!"

"Got it, Wu-ge!"

Gary He perked up, instantly excited, and dashed toward the security booth at the campus entrance. Meanwhile, Lily Yan didn't hesitate and ran toward the campus security office on the other side.

The security booth and the security office are in different places. The booth guards handle entry and exit checks, while the office has both security guards and student council members.

They split up, each taking a different route.

Seeing Lily Yan and Gary He rush off, Julie Chu grew even more anxious.

Unable to persuade Ryan Wu, Julie immediately turned to Hank Chu and his friends. "You guys need to leave now. Go out through the back gate!"

"Leave? Let's see who can actually leave this place today!"

Ryan Wu snorted coldly and signaled with his eyes. Instantly, a group of guys behind him stepped forward without hesitation.

At a glance, there were at least a dozen or twenty people. They formed a circle, trapping Hank Chu and his friends inside, preventing any escape.

"Julie, Young Master Wu is truly devoted to you, and yet you let him down. That's really not right." A guy looked at Julie Chu, shaking his head and sighing.

"Maybe you should reconsider? You have to realize, this guy Hank Chu probably won't earn in his whole life what Young Master Wu's family pays in taxes in a single day." A girl was still trying to persuade Julie Chu.

Julie Chu had already moved next to Hank. Seeing the crowd sealing off all exits, her expression grew even more anxious.

"Don't worry. With my friend here, nothing will happen."

Hank gently pulled Julie's wrist, standing firm and speaking softly.

In the past, Hank would have been terrified being surrounded like this, but today, with Evan here, he felt unusually calm inside.

He knew Evan's skills. Even though he didn't know exactly what Evan had been doing lately, he figured Evan must have achieved something big.

At other times, Hank might have worried about Evan getting into trouble, maybe even told Evan not to make a scene—better to leave, even if Hank had to swallow his pride. He just didn't want Evan in danger.

But today was different.

With Julie by his side, Hank understood that if they didn't settle this in front of everyone, her studies would be seriously affected.

"Your friend?"

Julie was startled and instinctively looked to the other side.

In her eyes, over there were two people.

Will Han was holding a phone, occasionally talking to it with a goofy smile, looking nothing like someone tough or capable.

Then she looked at the other young man.

He had clear brows and eyes, a calm expression, and while not particularly tall or muscular, he somehow gave off a powerful sense of security.

"Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Hank's childhood friend, Evan Lin."

Evan Lin nodded slightly at Julie Chu, giving her a reassuring look.

All of Julie's choices today at least proved she wasn't a gold-digger, which made Evan genuinely happy for Hank.

"Hi, I'm Julie Chu."

Julie greeted Evan, but seemed like she had more to say but hesitated.

"Don't worry—today's trouble doesn't count as trouble at all."

Evan seemed to notice Julie's worries and offered some comfort.

"Oh, 'today's trouble doesn't count as trouble,' huh?"

Ryan Wu's face grew even colder. "Let me show you what real trouble looks like!"

"Just wait. Once the security guards arrive, they'll teach you a lesson, pin you to the ground, and beat you like a dog! I hope you can still talk big then!"

Ryan Wu kept talking.

The onlookers couldn't help but start gossiping.

They looked at Evan Lin like he was an idiot.

"A poor kid's friend is just another poor kid. That guy still dares to act tough in front of Young Master Wu? Watch him crash and burn!"

The crowd kept talking.

Ryan Wu's people didn't rush to make a move.

Soon, footsteps echoed from outside the crowd.

First to arrive were the campus security guys—burly men and some tall students—who quickly ran over and stood by Ryan Wu.

"Young Master Wu, what's going on? Someone actually dared to mess with you?"

The security guards came forward. The leader, a man with a buzz cut, grinned at Ryan Wu.

"Captain Chen, it's those outsiders—they came here, started fights, and even tried to mess with our girls!"

Ryan Wu pointed at Evan Lin and his group with a fake smile. "Let's see how you want to handle this."

"Campus security's job is to protect us, right?"

As soon as he finished, Captain Chen raised his eyebrows and strode over without hesitation.

He was about to walk toward Hank, but Julie Chu shielded Hank. Captain Chen's gaze shifted and saw Will Han filming, so his face darkened and he stepped forward.

"Hey kid, what are you filming?"

"Who gave you permission to film here?"

His voice was loud and sudden, startling Will Han.

Will Han turned pale from the shout, but before he could react, someone stepped in front of him.

Evan Lin stepped forward without a word and kicked Captain Chen in the stomach.

One swift kick, then he stepped back.

A moment ago, Captain Chen was yelling; now he was kneeling on the ground, clutching his stomach and groaning.

"I gave him permission to film."

Evan stood over him, looking down calmly, eyes clear and fearless.
