In the next instant, Ryan Ling was decked out from head to toe—official hat, robes, boots, and seal—looking for all the world like the real King of Hell himself. The two wandering souls beside him now resembled Black and White Impermanence, standing guard at Ryan’s sides, glaring at Mr. Warren Yuan with overwhelming authority.
At that moment, Mr. Warren Yuan was completely dumbstruck. He felt as if seven or eight bolts of heavenly lightning had struck him on the head, his whole body trembling uncontrollably. There was no way he could hold onto his knives—they clattered to the floor with a loud crash. Face twisted in despair, he dropped to his knees and began kowtowing wildly to Ryan Ling.
Right then, Samuel Su, who’d just taken a sip of mineral water, spat it out in shock!
The lawyer’s fancy gold-rimmed glasses just cracked right down the middle!
Su Yanhua’s expensive wig—costing tens of thousands—blew right off her head!
......
Everyone nearby was left slack-jawed. Nobody could have predicted things would flip so fast—even Sophie Su’s eyes went wide, totally stunned.
But the real meltdown was yet to come. Ryan Ling sat upright in his chair and suddenly barked, “Warren Yuan! You think just kowtowing is enough?”
Warren Yuan, hearing this, reacted like he’d just received a royal decree. He stammered, “No, of course not! Definitely not!”
Then, like a madman, Warren Yuan began slapping himself across the face—so hard the sound echoed through the room.
Samuel Su panicked and rushed to Warren Yuan’s side, shouting, “Old Yuan, have you lost your mind? Are you hypnotized by this brat? Snap out of it!”
At that moment, except for Warren Yuan, nobody in the room had any idea what kind of getup Ryan Ling was wearing.
But hearing this, Warren Yuan spun around and roared at Samuel Su like a tiger: “You old bastard! How dare you disrespect the King of Hell—I’ll tear you apart!”
With that, Warren Yuan leapt up and started pummeling Samuel Su. Samuel, with his chubby face and flabby arms, was no match at all—within seconds, his face looked like a pig’s head and his whole body was scratched bloody.
Everyone around was stunned. Su Yanhua, to her credit, tried to help Samuel Su, but before she could even speak, Warren Yuan kicked her flying. The fat lady didn’t dare move again, and the Su family’s young master just sat on the ground, pale as a ghost.
None of them had any idea what was really going on!
After finishing his beatdown, Warren Yuan instantly turned into the most obedient lapdog, kneeling before Ryan Ling and begging for mercy—"King of Hell! Your Excellency! Please forgive me!"—making everyone else nearly drop to their knees too.
Even Sophie Su was having trouble recognizing Ryan Ling at this point.
He looked no different from a god descending to earth!
Just as this mind-blowing scene started to settle down, a nurse suddenly screamed, “The old man’s hand just moved…!”
Those words hit Samuel Su and his crew like a bolt from the blue.
“It’s about time—the old man should be waking up!” Ryan Ling, timing everything by the Book of Life and Death, had already nailed the moment.
Just as he finished speaking, the long-comatose Samuel Su gave a soft cough, and then—his tightly shut eyes slowly opened.
Instantly, every doctor and nurse in the room was petrified.
Acupuncture making Samuel Su’s condition improve was one thing. But waking up on cue? That was way beyond a medical miracle. Anyone in medicine knew that for a patient this far gone, even if things got better, it’d take at least three days to regain consciousness.
At this point, the only explanation was divine intervention.
“Divine doctor, please take me as your disciple! I’m strong and sturdy—perfect for free labor. Any dirty or tough job, just order me and I’ll do it!” Finally, the most senior, top-ranked doctor rushed forward to kneel and beg to be accepted as an apprentice.
The youngest and prettiest nurse immediately knelt too, pleading, “Divine doctor, I don’t ask to be your apprentice, but you must need an assistant, right? I can massage backs, pound legs, scrub baths, warm blankets—whatever you need, I’ll do it! Please let me serve you!”
Ryan Ling just looked speechless, completely ignoring them and heading straight for the pale, terrified Samuel Su.
“Wh-what are you doing? Don’t hit me!” Samuel Su whimpered, almost in tears.
“Who’s got time to hit you? Our wager’s right here—the old man’s awake, so pay up!” Ryan Ling said, producing the written bet for all to see.
“W-wager? Was there really such a thing?” Samuel Su’s eyes darted around, clearly making a last desperate play. Seeing the old man’s eyes open and his awareness returning, Samuel leaped over like a rabbit, shoved aside Sophie Su, and clung to Samuel’s hand, bawling.
“Dad! My dear dad, you’re finally awake! Your son’s been praying day and night for you to wake up—the Su family can’t go on without you!” Samuel Su’s acting was Oscar-worthy, tears streaming down his face.
“Samuel Su, have you no shame? Who was scheming to kill Grandpa just now, huh? Who tried to murder for the inheritance? Grandpa, don’t let him fool you!” Sophie Su shouted immediately.
“Sophie, I know you’ve always had issues with me, but you can’t just accuse me out of nowhere. I hired the best doctors for Grandpa! Are you trying to drive a wedge between father and son?” Samuel Su shot back, lying without a hint of shame.
“Enough! Why waste breath on this shameless clown?” Ryan Ling sneered. Now he truly understood the meaning of ‘thick-skinned.’
Right then, Warren Yuan acted like Ryan Ling’s loyal hitman. Hearing this, he cracked his knuckles and started marching toward Samuel Su again.
Samuel Su went pale and quickly backed away, stammering, “Wh-what are you doing? You’re going to hit me in front of the old man?”
“Beat him to death for me!” Sophie Su couldn’t help but yell.
“Dad, look—it’s this brat who wants me dead! See for yourself!” Samuel Su cried, pointing at Sophie Su.
"Heh!" At that moment, Samuel Su Senior finally spoke. He gave a cold laugh, his gaze suddenly razor-sharp. His voice was a little low, but it cut through the room like a knife.
"You bastard, do you really think I’m senile? I may have been unconscious, but I heard everything you did. I heard it all, loud and clear. And now you have the nerve to play the victim? You really are my good-for-nothing son! For the sake of your mother and brother, I won’t hit you today—but you and your heartless crew, get out of the Su family right now."
“Dad, it’s all a misunderstanding! I just lost my head for a moment—please don’t kick me out!” Samuel Su panicked, dropping to his knees with a thud. For a parasite and wastrel like him, getting kicked out of the Su family was a death sentence.
His fat wife hurried over and knelt too, shoving Su Yanhua and the young master along with her.
The two of them immediately kowtowed in unison, pleading, “Grandpa, we’re sorry! Please forgive us—we’re your real grandchildren, aren’t we? You’re not really going to abandon us, are you?”
“Real grandchildren, my ass! You’re all a pack of ungrateful wolves—nothing but money-burning parasites. If Sophie hadn’t held Su Group together these past two years, the company would’ve gone bankrupt. And after everything you’ve done, you still have the nerve to beg for forgiveness?” Samuel Su Senior was furious, his face dark with rage. He slammed the bed and barked, “Listen up! I’ll only say this once—strip off anything that belongs to the Su family and get out. If I see you here tomorrow, first I’ll break your hands, then your legs, and finally—three stabs, six holes, stabbed to death. Got it?”
Samuel Su collapsed to the floor like a pile of mud. The young master and young lady were totally stunned, and the fat wife rolled her eyes and started foaming at the mouth.
“Enough standing around—drag them out!” Ryan Ling thought the old man was seriously hardcore. As soon as he finished speaking, Warren Yuan got to work, kicking the whole pack out of the ward, including the lawyer and all the opportunistic doctors and nurses.
Once everyone was cleared out, Samuel Su Senior’s face softened. To everyone’s shock, he suddenly got up and knelt before Ryan Ling.
“Benefactor, please accept my bow!”
“Old sir, what are you doing? I’m just Sophie’s classmate—I can’t accept such respect!” Ryan Ling rushed over to help Samuel Su Senior up.
But Samuel Su Senior refused to rise. He pressed on, “Benefactor, you’re strong and talented, and my granddaughter is no slouch either. She’ll be chairwoman of Su Group soon. You two are a match made in heaven. I beg you to marry her and help her run the company!”
“Grandpa, what are you saying?” Sophie’s face instantly turned bright red.
“Don’t talk back!” Samuel Su Senior snapped, then looked hopefully at Ryan Ling. “Benefactor, if you’re willing to accept Sophie, you can have the wedding tonight. She always listens to me—just say the word…”
