"Are you serious?" Getting to date his dream goddess was already the stuff of Ryan Ling's wildest fantasies, but he never expected the old man to jump straight to the wedding night. At that moment, Ryan's heart was practically soaring with springtime joy—even his mouth started to water uncontrollably.
"Of course I'm serious! When Samuel Su says something, who dares not listen? As long as you agree, she's your wife right now. Tonight's dinner is the wedding banquet, and you'll have your bridal chamber tonight. Sophie is still a virgin—you're totally getting a great deal!"
"Grandpa, if you keep talking like this, I'm not going to bother with you anymore!" At this moment, Sophie Su was practically dying of embarrassment—her grandfather was being way too blunt. Sure, she thought Ryan Ling was getting more and more handsome, but who just jumps straight to the wedding night like that?
"I'm talking to my grandson-in-law—why are you interrupting? Go on, get out of here." Samuel Su glared angrily. He was perfectly clear-headed now; the things Ryan Ling had pulled off just now were shocking enough on their own, and even while he was unconscious, Samuel vaguely sensed that Ryan was really something special.
Now that the Su family was finally stable, who could say what disasters might be waiting around the corner? Harbor City was a deep pool, after all. The Su family had been a mess lately, and plenty of people were already eyeing Su Group like hungry wolves. Samuel Su had to stay vigilant, so recruiting a powerhouse like Ryan Ling was definitely the smart move right now.
Sophie might've acted like she was resisting on the surface, but truthfully, her heart was fluttering for Ryan Ling. She'd always been known as the icy beauty of Harbor City High, never once dating anyone in three years. Watching her dormmates all get a taste of romance, she felt a mix of envy and curiosity—but she just hadn't found the right guy.
But with all the things Ryan Ling had done, he was clearly her ideal Prince Charming. Plus, she'd already heard whispers that after that soccer match with Experimental High, tons of girls were crushing on him—he probably had a pile of love letters by now. If she kept playing hard to get, someone else would snatch up this catch for sure.
Right then, she just clenched her little fists and stayed silent, while Samuel Su grew more anxious and asked, "Well, benefactor? I don't see what there is to think about!"
Of course Ryan Ling was a thousand times willing—marrying a beauty, and his wife would soon be chairwoman of Su Group! Billions in assets would be his to spend. He was about to nod and agree with absolute joy.
But right then, the System suddenly blared a warning: Attention, your dad wants to speak to you personally.
What? Ryan Ling's mind buzzed—was his King of Hell dad really so eager to see his son get married and have a grandchild?
Ryan Ling couldn't help but chuckle to himself, but then his King of Hell dad's deep, magnetic voice rang out.
"My dear son, you're still young. It's way too early to talk about marriage. You should focus on your work, set big goals, and stay away from lust, gambling, and drugs..."
Hearing that, Ryan Ling almost coughed up blood.
"Dad, I'm not that young anymore—I could give you a grandchild right now! Can't you just let me have this one? Sophie Su and I are true love!" Ryan instantly protested.
"No way, I don't approve. If you want to seal the deal with Sophie Su, you at least have to finish recruiting your subordinates, build your ghost-court office, and officially establish the Yama Hall branch in the human world!" The King of Hell finished speaking and vanished, while the System instantly flashed a bright red warning: By strict order of Lord Yama, if you dare consummate with Sophie Su before meeting these requirements, your little JJ will be cut off.
Seeing that, Ryan Ling immediately clutched his crotch in terror and collapsed onto the floor.
"Benefactor, what's wrong?" Samuel Su was startled and quickly helped Ryan Ling up.
Sophie Su, hearing this, felt a sudden wave of nerves. After a fierce internal struggle, she'd already braced herself to be ravaged by Ryan Ling tonight, but now, when Ryan looked at her, he actually backed away.
"Uh, Grandpa Su, maybe let's skip the wedding night for now. Let me and Sophie Su date for a while first—we're still young, after all, and feelings need time to grow, right?" Ryan said this out loud, but inside, his heart was breaking. He'd already cursed his King of Hell dad a hundred times over.
"Yeah, Ryan Ling's right. Grandpa, let us get to know each other for a while first!" Sophie Su quickly chimed in, but her big eyes couldn't help sneaking a glance at Ryan's crotch. She remembered how he'd clutched himself just now, and suddenly a terrible thought flashed through her mind—was Ryan maybe... not up to it?
Ryan Ling wanted to cry but had no tears—he was burning up with desire, okay!
Samuel Su couldn't really force the issue either, so he just kept sighing, saying how he'd planned to prepare a dowry worth several hundred million today, but now he'd have to call it off.
Hearing that, Ryan Ling felt like his heart had been stabbed seven or eight times in a row. And that bootlicking System just rubbed salt in the wound, flashing a line: "Self-reliance and hard work are our traditional virtues."
Ryan really wanted to chop it to pieces.
But the real kicker was still to come. He suddenly glanced at his personal status screen and saw his assets had gone more than a million in the red. A tiny line explained: "King of Hell Command Token rental: one million yuan. System did warn you, but you insisted. Don’t ever rent high-end artifacts lightly—be cautious!"
Seeing that, Ryan Ling finally couldn't take it—he collapsed to the floor in fury.
......
Over the next few days, Ryan Ling and Sophie Su officially became a couple. Just holding hands and strolling around campus caused quite a sensation.
But ever since that failed wedding night, this little minx kept teasing Ryan Ling every few days with flirty words and body language, like she was testing whether he really had a problem. One time she even sent him a sexy swimsuit photo—Ryan Ling got a nosebleed on the spot.
He really couldn't take it anymore—this little minx was driving him crazy! To clear his "golden spear's" name and finally get into the bridal chamber, Ryan Ling had to step up his game and hurry to recruit subordinates. That brutal ghost-court mission would have to wait. Forget buying a multi-million-yuan office—that was a pipe dream. Even just paying off the System's million-yuan blackmail, who knew if he'd ever manage it.

"Sir, I still have some questions about ghost-path techniques. May I ask for your guidance again?" Ever since Warren Yuan saw Ryan Ling manifest the King of Hell's golden body at the hospital, he'd been like a fan chasing his idol—showing up every few days, and Ryan couldn't get rid of him no matter what.
"Quit bugging me! I'm in a terrible mood—get lost!" Ryan Ling shot Warren Yuan a fierce glare.
But Warren Yuan didn't get upset at all. He quickly said, "Sir, just tell me what you need—I'll get it done, no matter what!"
Ryan Ling was speechless. This forty-something old man was acting like a bullied housewife—so pitiful.
Honestly, Warren Yuan was actually a pretty good candidate for an underling, but the System just wouldn't recognize him—said he wasn't even qualified to be a temp.
Ryan Ling was totally speechless. This next mission was clearly way harder than the last. Just looking at the recruiting requirement—if even Warren Yuan didn't qualify, who on earth was he supposed to find?
Just as Ryan Ling was stressing out, Warren Yuan suddenly sighed, "Sir, seeing you so troubled, I won't bother you. Actually, I came today because I need your help with something important. There's been a suspected zombie incident at West Mountain lately—the police asked me to help, but my skills only work on little ghosts. Dealing with zombies is way out of my league. Since you're not in the mood, I'll just head out."
Before Ryan Ling could react, the System suddenly got excited and reminded him: Zombies used to be model employees in the Netherworld—hardworking, loyal, brave, and able to fight hundreds. They're exactly the kind of 'talent' a human-world Yama Hall can't afford to miss.
"Wait!" The moment he heard that, Ryan Ling jumped up like he'd been struck by lightning.
"Is there something else you need, Sir?" Warren Yuan quickly turned back, bowing respectfully.
"When are you guys going zombie hunting? I'm coming too!" Ryan Ling didn't hesitate for a second—he couldn't let such a golden opportunity slip by...
