A Mother's Responsibility

The secretary quickly said, "Maybe I'm just overthinking it. Mr. Fan hasn't done anything special towards her."

Linda Fang snorted coldly. "I've seen plenty of these young girls. They think they can get whatever they want just because they're young. When I married his father, there were a few clueless ones trying to play weak and innocent to win him over, but his dad never fell for that! I can't believe there are still women like this nowadays. It's an embarrassment to us all!"

The secretary grinned awkwardly. "Mr. Fan is the most eligible bachelor in town. So many people have their eyes on him! Who wouldn't want to get close to a guy who's handsome, kind, talented, and scandal-free? Women would do anything to catch a man like that!"

Linda Fang said proudly, "That's true. I know my son best! Winston is the most reliable, just like his father. Sigh, looks like I can't relax as a mom just yet. Go call Winston and tell him to come home for dinner tonight."

"Yes, madam." The secretary obediently went to call Winston Fan.

Winston Fan was a filial son.

No matter how busy he was, he'd always make time for his mom.

So that evening, he dutifully came home for dinner.

Linda Fang took off her expensive jewelry and personally made soup for her son—Chairman Fan was actually jealous!

"You only cook when our son comes home," Chairman Fan grumbled sourly.

"Eat your food! With all this on the table, you still can't keep your mouth shut?" Linda Fang shot her husband a glare, then turned to her son with a warm smile. "Winston, how are things going between you and Yina lately?"

"Pretty good," Winston Fan replied, not quite sure what his mom was getting at. "I’ve already told her how I feel—I’m a great choice for a marriage alliance."

Linda Fang rolled her eyes. "You really said it like that? Figures, that’s exactly your style. She’d be crazy to say yes!"

Winston Fan ignored that and asked, "Where’s Wuhao? Out with friends again?"

Fan Wuhao was the second son of the Fan family, only twenty-two, prepping for grad school. Sweet talker, quick on his feet, and hardly ever home.

"Don’t change the subject! I’m asking about you. Are you seriously looking to marry Yina Yin?" Linda Fang pressed, worried. "You better not play games with her. The Yin family isn’t some small-time clan. If you chase Yina while fooling around with other women, the Yins won’t let you off easy! You’re not Miles Gu—you don’t have that kind of history with them!"

Winston Fan sighed, "Mom, what are you talking about? When have I ever messed around with other women? I’m swamped with work! I really do want to marry Yina Yin. Maybe it’s not super romantic, but there’s definitely a business connection."

Linda Fang shot him a look. "When will you get a clue? Yina’s an amazing girl! She’s classy, sunny, straightforward, comes from a good family, well-mannered, capable—what more do you want?"

"I don’t want anything!" Winston Fan looked genuinely confused. Is his mom going through menopause or something? Why is she saying all this weird stuff today?

Chairman Fan couldn’t help but stick up for his son. "Winston’s so busy, he barely has time to breathe, let alone fall in love!"
