The Death of Lily Bai 6

1/4/2026

"The Dragon Scale is pulling all my energy into Xavier Xiao's body! He can't handle it—he's about to blow!"

Lily Bai hesitated, not sure if she should listen to the fish. Suddenly, Xavier Xiao's shirt pocket ripped open and something fell out.

It was Evan Lan who pierced through the fabric with a burst of spirit power.

Out tumbled a small box.

The box hit the ground, and inside was a grass-woven necklace.

The grass-woven necklace was wrapped in a haze of Red Light. The moment it left Xavier Xiao's body and hit the floor, the Red Light vanished.

The fish in the painting darted away and disappeared without a trace.

It was that grass-woven necklace!

The very same necklace Xavier Xiao gave Lily Bai when they first met!

With a sudden splatter, Xavier Xiao coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the floor.

"Dad!" Lily Bai cried out in shock, rushing over to help him up.

"Go!" Xavier Xiao shoved Evan Lan's tiny tree form into her arms. "You have to... survive!"

As soon as he finished speaking, his hand slackened, his body went heavy, and he collapsed to the ground.

No heartbeat. No pulse. He was... dead.

"What the heck just happened?" Shaun Fane stared, completely baffled.

He had no idea why the potted plant withered and then came back to life.

Nor could he understand why the President suddenly collapsed.

And just now, his perfectly fine shirt pocket—how did it rip open on its own?

While Shaun was still dazed, his hand suddenly felt empty.

Lily Bai kicked his gun away.

Meanwhile, it felt like an iron collar was crushing his throat—Shaun Fane could barely breathe.

Lily Bai held Evan Lan in one arm, and with her other elbow, she locked Shaun Fane's neck tight. If she pressed just a little harder, she could snap it.

Blood dripped steadily from the wounds that pierced through both her wrists, splattering across Shaun Fane's chest.

But she didn't seem to feel a thing.

"Open the door! Or I'll kill you." Lily Bai's voice rasped in Shaun Fane's ear, cold as hell itself.

"The remote's not on me!" Shaun Fane choked out, struggling.

"Open it!"

"I swear—cough—ugh! I swear, it's really not on me!" His face turned purple-red as he gasped for air.

"Open the door!" Lily Bai glared at Ryan Liu. "Or I'll strangle him!"

But Ryan Liu just stood there, totally calm—not even a blink.

He didn't say a word, and he didn't open the door.

Clearly, Shaun Fane's life didn't matter to them at all.

Which meant Shaun Fane wasn't even their boss.

Lily Bai dragged Shaun Fane and started climbing the stairs.

Evan Lan had told her there was a way out at the top of the stairs.

Sure enough, when she reached the astronomical telescope, she spotted a hole at the very top.

An iron plate covered the opening.

Lily Bai rammed Shaun Fane's head into it, and the plate popped right off.

She shoved Evan Lan up through the hole first, then kicked Shaun Fane off the ladder and hauled herself onto the mountaintop.

This was the highest point of all Heaven's Gate Mountain.

Mist curled everywhere—no ground below, no sky above. It felt like a slice of the immortal realm.

Regular tourists could only gawk at the peak from afar, sighing at how treacherous it looked.

No way could they see the ground from here.

The ground itself was sunken, paved with stone slabs.

Right in the middle sat a big, round structure.

The moment Lily Bai saw it, she remembered the ancient Portal Array from the manuals.

A real-life Portal Array, right here.

That thought flashed through her mind—then something else grabbed her attention.

Someone was standing there: a figure in a billowing white robe.

The robe was so oversized it swallowed him up.

Even his eyes were hidden behind dark sunglasses.

He was holding a custom-made handgun.

It looked like something straight out of a sci-fi flick—like you'd use it to blast aliens.

He had it aimed right at her.

Lily Bai barely glanced at it before she knew exactly what it was.
