Over a thousand white monsters surged forward, startling Evan Chu and his companions. These creatures were all around Golden Immortal level—while not individually strong, their sheer numbers made them a real threat, the classic 'many ants can kill an elephant' scenario.
Yvonne Xuan and Serena Frost's expressions changed instantly. For so long, nothing had appeared, and now suddenly there were so many monsters at once—just thinking about cutting them all down was exhausting. The two women both looked toward Evan Chu.
Evan Chu's expression flickered; killing these white monsters for real was going to be a pain. The biggest problem was that he had no idea what light-attribute powers these monsters might have. The dark monsters were all about corrosion, but these white ones would have to be tested to find out.
But these monsters were just too weak. To probe the true nature of the light element, they'd need to face higher-level monsters. And the only way to make stronger monsters appear was to wipe out this whole batch first.
"Yvonne, Serena, be careful. These things aren't that strong, but there are way too many—don't let them hurt you. Old Goldwing, Shadow, go all out and kill them all, let's lure out the real heavy hitters." Evan Chu ordered directly.
Goldwing and Shadow instantly transformed into their massive true forms and charged into battle. The Fire Golden Body and Earth Golden Body joined in too, while Evan Chu simply moved to stand beside the two women, not attacking at all.
"Evan, why aren't you fighting these monsters? There are thousands of them—how long will it take to finish them off?" Serena Frost asked, her voice full of concern.
"Thousands is a lot, that's exactly why it's dangerous. I need to protect you two—if anything happened to you, I'd regret it for the rest of my life." Evan Chu grinned.
"Cut it out with the sweet talk. We're already your women, so those cheesy lines don't work on us anymore—just keep them to yourself, it's kind of gross to hear." Serena Frost shot back.
Yvonne Xuan laughed, "Serena, we don't even need Evan to get involved here. These monsters might be Golden Immortal level, but their attack power is weak. Haven't you noticed they don't have any weapons at all? They're basically just here to be slaughtered."
Serena Frost took a closer look and saw that Yvonne Xuan was right—already a huge number of monsters lay dead, and several white beads had appeared on the ground. "It feels like these things can't even fight back. Is something wrong here?" she wondered aloud.
Serena's suspicion matched exactly what Evan Chu was thinking—there was no way light monsters should be this weak. Something was definitely off. Even if these were just cannon fodder, they shouldn't be getting wiped out without ever getting close to the four of them.
Goldwing gave his wings a shake, unleashing a barrage of golden feather-arrows that instantly wiped out a large swath of monsters. Unlike the dark monsters, these white ones couldn't regenerate; once killed, their bodies vanished as if dissolving into light element particles.
The easier it was, the more uneasy Evan Chu felt. In no time at all, the thousand-plus monsters were completely wiped out by the four of them—and none of them had even a scratch. It was like the monsters were just standing there waiting to be killed. There was no challenge at all.
"Boss, pretty impressive, right? We cleared out all those monsters in no time! Who knew these light-attribute white monsters would be so weak—I hope the next batch is tougher, otherwise there's no challenge." Goldwing, now in his middle-aged human form, walked over to Evan Chu and bragged.
"Don't get cocky. I bet the monsters coming up next will be way tougher—and probably even more dangerous than the dark ones. Everyone, stay sharp," Evan Chu warned.
They waited for almost half a stick of incense, but the ground stayed silent—no tremors at all. Everyone was confused, wondering what was going on. Then, all of a sudden, the space shook violently, and more than a hundred monsters appeared in front of them, each one nearly half again as big as the previous white monsters.
Evan Chu saw at a glance that these monsters were at Immortal Lord Realm strength. And this time, each one held a white longsword that gleamed with a cold light—clearly, their combat power was on a whole different level.
"Old Goldwing, weren't you complaining the last batch was too weak? Well, here's a set you can enjoy taking your time with. You guys keep going—I'll handle the next wave myself," Evan Chu said.
"No problem! Monsters at Immortal Lord Realm still can't hurt us. Boss, just sit back and watch us put on a show!" Goldwing replied, then charged right back into the fight.
This fight was way more intense—the air was filled with the sound of energy clashing, and the sword-qi unleashed by the white monsters' longswords was seriously powerful. All four of them had to go all out.
Soon enough, Goldwing and the Golden Bodies were both sporting wounds, while only Shadow—thanks to his freakish defense—was completely unhurt, though he was clearly exhausted and frustrated, his mouth wide open as he panted. After all that effort, he'd only managed to kill less than thirty monsters.
It was a world apart from the earlier carrot-chopping, one-hit-kill massacre. Shadow then opened his jaws wide and unleashed a Lion's Roar, instantly slaying more than ten white monsters.
Goldwing's strength was seriously hampered by his inability to fly here—otherwise, with his speed, he could have pierced right through the white monsters' bodies in an instant. Killing them would have been a breeze.
"Evan, you should help out! Can't you see how exhausted Goldwing and the others are? If they burn through all their Immortal Essence now, who's going to protect us when the really strong monsters show up?" Yvonne Xuan called out.
Evan Chu considered it and realized Yvonne was right. The next wave would be mid-stage Immortal Emperor level monsters, and he had no idea how many there'd be. He needed Shadow and the others to conserve their strength so they could protect the women.
Right now, the Samsara Bracelet was restricted—otherwise, Evan could've just put Yvonne and Serena into his storage ring for safety. As it was, they had no choice but to face the danger together.
With a flash, Evan Chu charged into the monster horde, the Frostbane Divine Sword in hand, unleashing a massive sword-light. His weapon's sharpness and his own overwhelming power were on full display—within a few breaths, he had already cut down seven or eight monsters.
Shadow and Goldwing couldn't help but grumble, "A freak is a freak. We're about to drop dead from exhaustion, and he's over there playing like it's a game. It's enough to drive us crazy."
With Evan Chu joining the fray, the Fire Golden Body and Earth Golden Body seemed to power up as well, and the fight turned in their favor. After about half a stick of incense, every last one of the hundred-plus monsters had been wiped out.
Evan Chu picked up a few of the sparkling white beads from the ground and returned to the two women. "How about it, your man did pretty well, right? These beads seem nice—here, you take them. Consider it the spoils of war."
