If You Won’t Leave, You’ll Be Carried Out
Evan Yang shook his head helplessly. Although he didn't have much of a connection with these people, that didn't mean he could just ignore them.
"Can you get them to call it off?" Evan asked.
"No need to call it off—we're already here." Just then, a rough voice sounded from outside. A burly man strode in, followed by a whole crowd.
It was obvious this burly man was their leader—his cultivation was already at Divine Cauldron Great Perfection. The rest stood behind him as if watching a show, even openly provoking Evan's group.
"Looks like there's a misunderstanding here. You all should just head back." Evan said.
"So you're the Captain Mu he keeps talking about?" The man looked Evan up and down.
"For now, yes," Evan replied.
"That settles it. Since you're here, I won't have to look for you. Let's have a match and see if you're really as strong as he says—able to defeat all those Fourth-Rank Generals." The burly man grinned.
Evan shook his head. "Forget it. No need to stir up trouble. You all should just leave—we want some peace and quiet."
Go back just because you say so? Wouldn't that make us look pathetic? That was what they were thinking. The burly man's smile faded as he said, "Kid, don't tell me you don't even have the guts for this. Coward."
The other group jeered as well, "Coward, coward!"
Evan’s men shot back, "You’re the real cowards!"
"If any of you say another word, I’ll toss you aside." the burly man snorted coldly.
Evan’s group fell silent, but Captain Ling’s men kept at it, continuing to insult Evan.
One of Evan’s men couldn’t take it anymore and spoke up to defend them.
Captain Ling finally made his move. He knew Evan wouldn’t act, so he targeted Evan’s men instead.
He flashed forward, appearing in front of the messenger who had reported back, and swung his hand to strike. The crowd was shocked.
Evan moved as well, flashing in to block the attack and catching the punch head-on, forcing the man to stagger back.
"Finally decided to move, huh?" Captain Ling hadn’t expected Evan to use so much force—he’d almost embarrassed himself, but managed to steady his stance just in time.
Evan’s men were thrilled to see him finally act. Even though they knew Evan was at a realm disadvantage, they still cheered for him, shouting, "Go, Captain Mu!"
The other side joined in, shouting, "Go, Captain Ling!"
"Kid, let me show you what real power looks like." Captain Ling unleashed his aura—Divine Cauldron Great Perfection.
Evan said calmly, "I’ll count to three. If you’re still here by then, your own men will have to carry you out."
The arena instantly fell silent. Where did Evan get that kind of confidence? He was being way too arrogant—after all, the other guy was a whole sub-realm above him, but Evan was acting like he didn’t care at all.
Captain Ling flushed red and snapped, "Let your men carry you home!" He charged in.
Evan simply flashed forward to block the attack, but said, "One."
Evan’s speed was so fast that everyone was stunned. Captain Ling hadn’t expected it either and tried to attack again, but missed completely.
Evan said, "Two."
The arena had gone quiet. The other group started to feel uneasy—Captain Ling was supposed to be stronger, so why hadn’t he landed a single hit? He’d missed twice in a row.
Captain Ling finally got angry, gathering his strength to try to take down Evan quickly. But he missed again, and Evan said, "Three. You can leave now."
Before Captain Ling could react, Evan hit him with a single punch, sending him flying into the steps and leaving him seriously injured.
"You—" Captain Ling spat blood, unable to stand up straight.
The place went dead silent until Evan’s men shouted, "Captain Mu! Captain Mu!"
Captain Ling’s men, seeing their captain couldn’t even block a single punch, all panicked and hurriedly carried the badly injured Captain Ling away.
As they left, they could still hear Captain Ling cursing, "I won’t let you off!"
"I told you, if you don’t leave after three chances, your men will carry you out," Evan said.
Evan’s men were overjoyed, crowding forward to praise him. Evan knew he’d made an enemy today, but he didn’t have a choice—he’d given them a chance, but they refused to leave.
From then on, those people often tried to get close to Evan, some even asking to follow him in the future.
After all, Fiend Palace rules allowed a Fourth-Rank General to command up to a hundred Fifth-Rank Generals—and even more at higher ranks.
Evan didn’t refuse. He needed to build a strong team if he wanted to survive in the Fiend Palace.
By the end of the day, nearly fifty Fifth-Rank Generals had registered under Evan’s command, forming a small team.
Evan appointed Owen Bing as vice-captain, authorizing him to handle daily matters. The others had to go through him for routine issues.
Owen Bing was loyal and brave. When rival captains came to cause trouble, he stepped out first, refusing to yield even though he knew they were stronger.
Captain Li, furious, smashed him away with a powerful blow, but Evan flashed in to catch him before he hit the ground.
Evan told Owen Bing to stand aside, then personally dealt with the enemy captains.
He quickly defeated Captain Li and the other captains, earning the respect of everyone present.
Owen Bing was grateful and became even more loyal to Evan.
With Owen Bing managing the team, Evan was free to focus on his own cultivation.
He was determined to break through to Divine Cauldron Great Perfection soon.
He knew that only by becoming stronger could he survive and protect his team in the Fiend Palace.
