Peach Blossoms Blooming
Lily Bai: "..."
"Have him take our Sigil Sect disciples somewhere safe for ten days, maybe half a month," Lord Faustin said. "Then, you and I can..."
Lord Faustin spun his plot with Lily Bai, laying out every detail, every angle.
Lily Bai stared at him for ages, speechless. "And... this will actually work?"
"Unless you’ve got a better idea, let’s hear it," he challenged.
Lily Bai: "But... if the Divine Realm finds out, the Sigil Sect will be branded for colluding with the Demon Emperor. That’s real annihilation!"
"We’ll cross that bridge when we get there!" Lord Faustin said. "First, let’s dodge the death trap right in front of us."
Lily Bai: "..."
"If you don’t have a better plan, then it’s settled," Lord Faustin said. "Figure out how to contact him right now—we’re leaving tomorrow."
Lily Bai pointed at him. "This is your idea, Master! Don’t you dare pin it on me later."
Lord Faustin: "Is your master really that kind of person?"
Lily Bai shot him a sideways glance and walked out.
Lord Faustin shook his head. "Peach blossoms! Peach blossoms! So many peach blossoms!"
Then he started humming: "Warm spring breezes blow, peach blossoms bloom, birds pair up on the branches..."
...
Lily Bai returned to her courtyard and summoned Damian Black again.
"Have you made up your mind?" Damian Black asked, face cold.
"Made up my mind about what?" Lily Bai asked.
"Whether you’re going to break the formation." He was icy and aloof.
"Whether I break the formation or not is my business, not yours," Lily Bai said. "Do you know why I called you out here?"
Damian Black: "No idea."
"Last time you bit me, remember?"
Damian Black: "So, what, you want to bite me back?"
Lily Bai pointed at the courtyard. "Your punishment: sweep up all the fallen leaves and pull every weed in the flowerbeds."
Damian Black waved his hand toward the yard.
Every fallen leaf turned to ash.
All the weeds were yanked out by the roots and piled up neatly.
"Whoa! That fast?" Lily Bai’s jaw dropped. "You’re a pro at this! Tonight I should really thank Lord Hades—feels like he didn’t just give me a spell, he handed me the Demon Emperor as a spirit pet! Ha!"
Damian Black’s face darkened, but he said nothing.
"Come on! Give me a shoulder massage," she said again. "Flying all the way back wore me out."
Damian Black's face darkened even more. "Men and women shouldn't touch."
"With your skills, you can't just do an airborne massage?" Lily Bai pointed at her shoulder. "Right here, hurry up."
But Damian Black's gaze landed on her wrist.
He grabbed her hand.
"Huh? What are you doing?"
"Henry Xiao gave you this?" Damian Black stared at the bead bracelet.
"Oh... yeah..." she mumbled, suddenly feeling guilty. "It's a Divine Artifact, super strong against lightning. If I wear it—hey, what are you doing?"
Damian Black yanked the bracelet off and tossed it straight into the trash.
Lily Bai: "...Damian Black!"
"What?"
"Are you jealous?" Lily Bai tilted her head and looked at him.
Damian Black shoved her away and turned to leave.
"Don’t go!" Lily Bai grabbed his sleeve.
Damian Black looked back, his eyes dark and heavy.
"If I want to contact Damian Black, what’s the best way to find him? Preferably without a middleman," Lily Bai asked.
Damian Black: "Why do you want to find him?"
"Your memory’s not great, huh? Didn’t I tell you already? When your master asks, just answer—no questions, no backtalk!"
