Tender Meat

Damian Black paused for a moment, then said, "Redleaf Valley. He goes there often."

"Redleaf Valley? Where's that?" Lily Bai asked, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.

"Paper and pen."

Lily Bai handed him the paper and pen.

He wrote down a set of coordinates for her.

The Sigil Sect has a Divining Compass. Depending on where you are, it shows different numbers.

With the coordinates and the Divining Compass, you could pinpoint a location exactly.

Lily Bai said, grinning, "You really do know everything about Damian Black. Should I be worried?"

"Mm."

"Then can you tell me... how does he, um, see me?" Lily Bai asked, her voice wavering with playful nerves.

Damian Black: "Tender and juicy."

Lily Bai: "...That's it? Seriously?"

"Roasted or steamed, you'd be delicious either way."

Lily instantly regretted ever agreeing to negotiate with him for her master. What was she thinking? She was definitely not cut out for demon diplomacy.

......

The next day was the appointed date with Leo Li.

Leo Li arrived at the Sigil Sect with a starship to take them to the Primeval Demon Wilds.

Henry Xiao insisted on coming along, too.

Warden Faustin, as usual, looked half-dead but stubbornly insisted on traveling with his disciples, personally leading them to the Primeval Demon Wilds despite his illness.

"I've selected twelve Inner Disciples at demigod level or above, and twenty-four with lower cultivation but outstanding Spirit Talisman talent," Warden Faustin said sorrowfully. "All the core disciples of our sect are gathered here! Success or failure hinges on this mission!"

"Excellent!" Leo Li looked moved and heroic. "Warden Faustin truly is a righteous immortal who cares for all the common people!"

"I'm entrusting these beloved disciples to you both! No matter what happens, please, value their lives above all!" Warden Faustin trembled as he knelt.

Leo Li hurried to help him up. "Don't worry! We've already ordered a hundred thousand Divine Soldiers and Generals to accompany you, ready for deployment at any moment. We'll do everything we can to protect the Sigil Sect disciples."

"Are they going into the Array with us too?" Warden Faustin asked, squinting his elderly eyes.

"Uh... well..." Leo Li looked a bit awkward. "We only have a limited number of Aegis Pearls, so they can't go in with you."

"How can that be?" Warden Faustin protested fiercely. "If my disciples run into the Demon Emperor or Azure Flame inside, what then?

The strongest among them is just Little Fish, and she's only an Excellent Immortal! How could she possibly match those two?

You have to assign at least one squad of Divine Soldiers to every disciple who goes in! That's the only way to guarantee their safety!"

That old geezer just wants a bunch of cannon fodder.

Leo Li flashed a businesslike smile. "Warden, the more people that go in, the bigger the target! And a bigger target just attracts more lightning!"

Lily Bai heard Leo Li's words and couldn't help but smile.

Whenever her master starts scheming, he gets absurdly clever.

He's clearly terrified they'll send people to watch them.

Yet he acts like he desperately wants them to come along...

Now that it's clear they won't send anyone, Warden Faustin put on a sour, reluctant face and said, "How about this—once we're there, you give every Sigil Sect disciple who goes in a Celestial Relic*—or a Divine Artifact, that's fine too! As long as it's strong enough to drive off the Demon Emperor! Young Master Drake, what do you think?"

*Celestial Relic: A top-grade magical artifact, extremely rare and powerful, usually requiring legendary materials and luck to forge. Equivalent to 'top-grade Immortal Artifact.'

One Celestial Relic per person...

Does he think Celestial Relics grow on trees?

You need the rarest, most extraordinary materials just to make one Celestial Relic.

And the odds of success are minuscule.

If you get one Celestial Relic in a thousand years, you're lucky!
