Trial Pillar

When one of Quinn Lynn's needles was knocked out, Immortal Sovereign Lynn sensed it from afar and was shocked. "Damn it, how did it get knocked out?"

This made Immortal Sovereign Lynn uneasy. He immediately contacted the Lynn Patriarch, and after learning the situation, found out that the patriarch had gone to find Evan Yang. Judging by the current events, Quinn Lynn already had one needle knocked out, and if things continued like this, his strength would gradually return to normal.

This was the outcome Immortal Sovereign Lynn least wanted to see, but it was happening anyway. The sensation of each needle fading meant that one by one, they were disappearing.

Evan Yang gradually broke into a smile. At this moment, Quinn Lynn was like a tiger whose fangs had been pulled—unable to bite, and the Blood Demon Shade could attack him at will. Until Evan laughed, "Let me handle it."

The Blood Demon Shade nodded, then Evan darted forward and sealed Quinn Lynn. Quinn glared at Evan, furious. "You’re despicable!"

"How am I despicable?" Evan replied with a smile.

"You coward!" Quinn Lynn shouted angrily.

"Go ahead and keep yelling. But I’m curious, what exactly are these ten needles, and why do they boost your power so much?" Evan asked, intrigued.

Quinn Lynn said nothing, glaring at Evan. He desperately wished his Immortal Sovereign would come to his rescue, but apparently not. Seeing Quinn silent, Evan laughed, "I’ll just keep you for now. Someday, I’ll hand you over to the Lynn Family—should make a decent gift."

Evan smiled, then tossed Quinn Lynn into an ordinary spatial ring. Afterward, he said to the Blood Demon Shade, "Let’s go, time to move on."

"Mm." The Blood Demon Shade nodded.

So Evan and the Blood Demon Shade continued toward their destination.

After losing Evan’s trail, Immortal Sovereign Lynn was furious. Over at the Holy Spirit’s side, they couldn’t predict where Evan would be next—only his current location. But Evan was surrounded by void, with no locator marks, leaving Immortal Sovereign Lynn with power but no way to find him.

In this way, Evan and the Blood Demon Shade spent several peaceful years. During that time, Immortal Sovereign Lynn searched for Evan many times but found nothing. Eventually, even the Holy Spirit couldn’t track Evan’s whereabouts.

Immortal Sovereign Lynn thought they were deliberately hiding Evan, and was extremely angry. No matter what methods he used, the three claimed not to know. The only possible answer was that Evan had entered some special area, one even they couldn’t predict.

After all, they weren’t omnipotent, so there were limits. Faced with this result, Immortal Sovereign Lynn was furious and ordered that any news of Evan must be reported to him immediately. He himself returned to the Immortal Realm Alliance.

Evan flew for several years and finally reached his target: the Water Star System.

The Water Star System was vast. All the planets together formed a heavenly river stretching across the stars. Even more, the outer regions were filled with arrays—any careless intruder would be obliterated.

Seeing the flickering lights before him but unable to see inside, Evan knew this was the outer perimeter of the Water Palace. To enter, he’d have to find a way to sneak in from here.

So Evan hovered there for a while, planning to enter from a weaker spot in the array. Sure enough, he found a suitable place. Using his Heavenly Eye, he saw through the array before him and stepped inside. Even though it was a maze array, Evan could walk out one step at a time, easily avoiding powerful attack and trap arrays.

Just like that, Evan and the Blood Demon Shade spent half a day walking through the array before finally emerging. It was clear how vast the formation was—even with the ability to penetrate it, it took this long. If someone unfamiliar with arrays wandered in, they might never escape in their lifetime.

After passing through the array, Evan was stunned by the scene before him. Each planet’s surface was surrounded by what looked like droplets of water. How many droplets would it take to create such a spectacle?

As Evan wondered where to enter, a cluster of water droplets suddenly gathered and formed a transparent water figure. It looked at Evan and said, "This isn’t a place for outsiders. Go back."

"I wish to apprentice myself to the Water Palace. May I ask which senior’s technique this is? Please guide me!" Evan couldn’t use searching for someone as an excuse, so he sought a breakthrough by asking to become a disciple. Otherwise, he’d have no foothold here.

The water figure replied, half understanding, "Apprentice? Young man, you’re just an Immortal Lord and you want to come here to seek a master? You’re overestimating yourself. Don’t you know most who come here are peak Emperor Lords or Immortal Sovereigns? You’re just courting death."

"Senior, whether it’s courting death or not, I’ll only know if I try. Besides, who says Immortal Lords can’t seek a master?" Evan countered.

"That’s a fair point. Since you insist, I’ll give you a chance. If you pass, you can step into the Water Palace. If you fail, you won’t get another opportunity." the water figure said.

"If there’s a chance, there’s hope. Please guide me, senior." Evan said.

"Follow me. I’ll take you to the Water Palace’s Trial Platform," the water figure said.

Trial Platform? Evan hadn’t expected the Water Palace to have such a place, but it was better than having no hope. As long as he could get inside, everything else would be easier.

Led by the water figure, Evan arrived at a planet. There were many buildings on this planet, all arranged around a central spot—a water pillar about three meters wide.

Beside the water pillar was a huge pit filled with piles of bones. Seeing the heaps of skeletons, Evan frowned and muttered to himself, "Are the people of the Water Palace all bloodthirsty killers?"

Noticing Evan’s expression, the water figure laughed, "These are all people who failed the trial platform. There are three possible outcomes: pass safely, die and become bones, or fail but manage to escape."

"That’s a lot of bones," Evan exclaimed in shock.

"Exactly. Out of ten thousand, maybe half a person passes, and the other half barely escapes. The rest die and become bones," the water figure said with a smile.

Evan looked at the bones and noticed a large gravestone nearby labeled 'Bone Cliff.' Around it, flowers grew—nourished by the lingering energy of the bones, forming their essence.

"How many people does it take to fill this cliff?" Evan sighed.

"With the passage of years, the numbers grow. So I’m giving you a chance, but also a chance to die. Now’s your opportunity," the water figure said with a smile.

"A chance to die? That’s true. But no matter what, I have to try," Evan said.

"Since that’s the case, in a moment I’ll send you into the water pillar. If you can defeat what’s inside, you can leave. But you can’t have any help—face it alone, or you’ll be disqualified," the water figure said.

Evan nodded, "No problem. But is what’s inside really that dangerous? I heard even Immortal Sovereigns come here to seek a master—is that true?"

"Of course it’s true. Many Immortal Sovereigns have tried, but their souls are indestructible, so they can escape. As for you, I don’t think you’ve reached that state—you only have one life, so cherish it. But rest assured, what’s inside is tailored to your strength. You won’t face the kind of challenge only an Immortal Sovereign could handle," the water figure said with a smile.

"That’s a relief, then," Evan said, feeling reassured that the test was based on his strength.

"Your friend will wait here. Are you ready?" the water figure asked.

Evan nodded. The water figure waved a hand, and Evan floated up, flying straight to the water pillar and passing through it.

Inside, it was an empty reservoir—water everywhere, no land. The only way was to fly upward for a while, but above was water too. The whole place felt like being surrounded by water on all sides.

"Water," Evan muttered to himself.

Then the water figure’s voice sounded again, "It’ll start soon. Hope you win."

After speaking, the water figure’s voice faded. Evan focused, wary of anything strange appearing. Outside, the Blood Demon Shade stood waiting. The water figure beside him smiled, "You’re not even human, and you dare come here? You’ve got guts."

The Blood Demon Shade was startled—he hadn’t expected to be discovered.

"Don’t be surprised. I judge by actions, not by people—you don’t need to be so shocked," the water figure said with a smile.

The Blood Demon Shade was startled by the water figure. What kind of place was this, and how could they see through his identity? That was his biggest guarantee for surviving in the Immortal Realm.

"It’s starting. Let’s watch," the water figure said, seeing the Blood Demon Shade frightened. With a wave, a giant screen appeared, showing Evan’s every move inside.

On the three-meter-wide water surface, ten massive water-formed creatures slowly emerged. Their aura was at least fifth-stage Emperor Lord level.

Luckily, Evan could challenge higher realms, so fifth-stage Emperor Lords weren’t much trouble. The ten giant creatures looked like aquatic behemoths, but their movements were fast. In a flash, they surrounded Evan.

Each creature opened its mouth and sprayed water. The attacks were fierce and fast—impossible for Evan to block. All he could do was dodge. With a quick move, he sped out of their attack range, landing above them.

"Interesting, pretty fast. But speed alone isn’t enough—they aren’t stupid," the water figure said, surprised at first, then smiling at Evan’s performance.

Sure enough, the giant creatures opened their mouths again, spraying water like jets aimed at Evan. Evan dodged again, but the water changed direction, following his movements.
