Overestimating Oneself

Bang!

The man who had charged forward with such ferocity stomped down onto the white snow, intending to use it as leverage to launch himself ahead. But just as his foot touched down, his entire body vanished into the ground without a trace.

"Where'd he go?"

To everyone watching, the man who had just been so imposing seemed to be swallowed up by the snow itself, leaving not a single trace behind.

"Did anyone see what just happened?"

"He disappeared?"

"How does a guy that big just vanish?"

Many faces went blank, full of confusion and disbelief.

"The snow isn't deep enough to bury a whole person. Or did that guy have some kind of special technique?" Gavin Luo frowned, clearly puzzled.

"No, there's no trace of any inner strength around here. That guy just vanished into thin air." Clark Luo shook his head, then glanced at Lin Yi, who was calmly seated to the side, a bit hesitant. "Could it be his doing?"

Clark Luo had barely finished speaking when Gavin Luo cut in, "Impossible. I was watching that kid the whole time—he just sat there quietly. He didn't even move, and I didn't sense a hint of inner strength changing around him!"

"He's just a Pseudo-Vajra. There's no way he could take out that guy without anyone noticing—pure fantasy!"

"That guy was at least a fifth-grade Vajra!"

Gavin Luo and Clark Luo were both full of suspicion.

Rena Luo looked just as surprised, completely at a loss.

Everyone stared, stunned, at the spot where the man had vanished.

"What happened to him?" Queenie Tong whispered.

"He's dead." Lin Yi replied coldly, spitting out two words.

Queenie Tong froze at his words. Realizing what he meant, she wisely kept quiet and didn’t ask or press further.

Rena Luo, on the other hand, gave Lin Yi an extra glance, her eyes unreadable, as if pondering something.

The group led by the elder had now stopped in their tracks, all eyes fixed on the snowy ground ahead, as if sensing danger.

"Where is he?!"

The elder's face was grim. All he could see was endless white snow, pristine and undisturbed, as if no one had ever set foot there.

They were still more than ten meters away from where the man had vanished, staring at the spot with heavy expressions.

The Vajra masters behind them also halted, none daring to take another step forward.

"There's no way he just disappeared into thin air. How can there be no trace at all?!"

Someone frowned deeply.

"What the hell? A fifth-grade Vajra master just gone like that?"

One of the men, thin and wiry, looked around a few times before raising his voice at Lin Yi, who was sitting in his chair: "What did you do?!"

His face darkened. His gut told him this was all connected to that kid up above.

Yet from start to finish, there hadn't been the slightest trace of inner strength in the air.

For a martial artist to kill, it should never be this silent and invisible!

Besides, the vanished man and the boy in the chair were separated by a huge distance! Even a fourth-grade or third-grade Vajra couldn't possibly wipe out a fifth-grade Vajra so quietly from so far away!

The tension in the air grew.

Lin Yi remained seated, silent and unmoving.

The crowd that had been waiting to see Lin Yi make a fool of himself now exchanged awkward glances.

Rena Luo's brows were tightly furrowed, while Gavin Luo and Clark Luo crossed their arms, all of them silent.

"If you don't want to die, you can leave now."

Seeing them hesitate, Lin Yi finally spoke up, his voice flat.

"Damn it, I don't buy it. It's just a crappy ski resort—what could possibly be so dangerous here?"

Hearing Lin Yi's words, one of the men behind the elder was visibly annoyed.

He roared in anger and stomped forward, his muscles swelling like coiled dragons, his frame expanding until he stood a full two meters tall—far larger than his original height.

As his foot struck the ground, Inner Strength surged around him, and all the snow within three meters sank downward from the force of his step.

"Let me see what's really hiding over there!"

The man's wild shout drew every eye. Step by step, he advanced like a giant spirit god descending to earth, leaving the crowd shocked and awestruck.

"Show yourself!"

He strode forward, closing in on the spot where the last man had vanished.

He suddenly swung his fist, channeling immense force as he hammered it down onto the ground.

"Open up!"

With a fierce shout, his punch landed, sending the snow flying away in all directions like a miniature blizzard.

Boom!

The force of his Inner Strength shook all the snow from the ground, revealing the yellow earth beneath.

"What is that...?"

As the snow settled, the elder's eyes narrowed sharply and his whole body trembled.

Because of the distance—and the angle from Rena Luo and the others—they couldn't clearly see what was in front of the elder's group.

But in the very next second, as the snow cleared, everyone could feel the surge of terror radiating from the elder and his men.

Even the man who had seemed like a god just moments ago now looked pale as a sheet, staring in disbelief at whatever lay before him.

"Run!"

The elder was the first to react, his face grim as he shouted. Instantly, his group bolted toward the ski resort's entrance at top speed.

"What happened to them?"

"Why are they all running off? They look like they've seen a ghost!"

"What's over there, anyway?"

A bunch of people started tiptoeing, straining to get a better look, but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't make out what was on that patch of yellow earth.

"What is with these guys? Six Vajra masters here, and they're scared of a ski resort!" Rena Luo took a deep breath.

Just as she was about to go check it out herself, the crowd noticed something strange—the snowy ground where the elder's group had run suddenly began to tremble, one after another.

A split second later—

Bang!

A faint noise echoed.

Someone stepped down, and their whole body sank into the snow, vanishing from sight.

Then a second, a third...

One by one, the people around the elder disappeared—silent, without a chance to resist!

"What the hell is happening?!"

Rena Luo felt a chill run down her spine. Six Vajra masters had come, and now only the elder was left!

Gavin Luo and Clark Luo's faces turned pale, while the rest of the crowd grew anxious. To them, this ski resort looked more like a man-eating beast than anything else!

Queenie Tong nervously stuck close to Lin Yi. Lin Yi reached out, ruffled her hair, and said calmly, "An ant trying to shake a tree—doesn't know its own limits."

"With fate like yours, even if you don't die, you'll wish you had."
