An Unexpected Existence

2/14/2026

The old man stomped his foot on the ground, then leapt into the air, about to escape the ski field.

Of the six who'd come, now only he remained.

But just as he was about to leave, a streak of red and blue light suddenly shot up from the snow, intertwining as it burst forth.

The shadow came at him with ferocious speed, and in the blink of an eye, it was already right behind him.

A crushing sense of danger closed in. The next second, everyone saw a flash—and when they came to, the old man had vanished without a trace.

"He... vanished again..."

Everyone held their breath, not daring to make a sound.

Their faces were blank with shock; at this moment, not a single person dared say a word.

The Mercedes cars that had brought the six men to the gate started up one after another. The drivers, faces pale with fear, floored the gas and sped away as fast as they could.

Soon, everything was calm again—as if no one had ever been there.

"It's over."

Evan Lin stood up and stretched lazily.

Everyone looked over at him, faces full of strange expressions.

"Was that you?"

Rena Luo’s eyes were icy cold, her heart even more puzzled than before.

She truly couldn’t figure out how Evan Lin had acted, or how he’d made those men disappear.

Gavin Luo and Clark Luo stepped up to stand beside Rena Luo.

They stared at Evan Lin, eyes full of wariness.

The others recalled what Evan Lin had said before, and now their faces were full of fear.

"You’re not... actually cursing people, are you?"

Yesterday he said Lance Le would get hit with misfortune, and sure enough, it happened. Today he warned those guys at the bottom of the slope they'd run into disaster and couldn't come up, and it happened again!

This guy is kind of creepy.

A lot of people started edging away from Evan Lin, each of them sighing and muttering under their breath.

Evan Lin swept his gaze around, but anyone caught in his line of sight subconsciously backed away a few steps, afraid he'd say something and get them involved in trouble.

"Rena!"

Queenie Tong saw the three Luo siblings looking grim, and immediately stepped in front of Evan Lin.

"That's right, I'm the one who did it. If you want to try, go ahead."

Evan Lin shot them a sidelong glance, his voice calm and indifferent.

"You say you did it, but just saying it doesn't make it true! Why don't you tell us how you did it?" Gavin Luo stepped forward, clenching his fist, refusing to believe Evan's words.

His face was dark and uncertain—he clearly didn't believe a word Evan said.

But seeing Evan Lin's relaxed, almost casual attitude, Gavin couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy, unable to figure out what Evan was really capable of.

"I've been watching you this whole time. If you really did it, then show us some proof. Those guys were all fifth-grade Vajra experts! Even if you're stronger than them, there's no way you could make them all vanish without a sound!"

Clark Luo frowned, sizing up Evan Lin from head to toe. "Or maybe you're a dual-cultivator—someone who's both a martial artist and a mystic arts adept?"

Before Evan could answer, Clark shook his head. "No way. Even if you're a Mystic Arts Adept, there's no way you could pull off something like that—unless... you've already reached the Yin–Yang Realm!"

At that, Gavin Luo and Rena Luo both stiffened, sweat prickling on their skin. For a split second, their eyes flashed with shock as they looked at Evan Lin.

Nearby, more people overheard the conversation, but most of them had no clue what 'fifth-grade Vajra' or 'Mystic Arts Adept' even meant. All they knew was that the strong men sent by Lance Le had vanished, right before their eyes.

As for Gavin Luo and Clark Luo, they looked tough and imposing, but compared to the so-called 'soft-rice king' Evan Lin, they seemed like nothing special.

"Yin–Yang Realm is nothing. Your vision is way too narrow," Evan Lin snorted. "I've killed two Yin–Yang mages, crushed countless Vajra experts, and even slaughtered Pointing-to-Mystery masters. So tell me, what kind of power do you think I really have?"

Killed two Yin–Yang mages!

Crushed countless Vajra experts! Slaughtered Pointing-to-Mystery masters!

Crushed countless Vajra experts!

Slaughtered Pointing-to-Mystery masters!

Evan's string of bold claims made Rena Luo and her brothers' hearts skip a beat.

Queenie Tong could feel the tension spike around them. For the first time, the usually unflappable Rena Luo looked genuinely rattled.

But that flash of panic only lasted a second before Rena's expression returned to normal.

"Big talk!"

Rena Luo took a deep breath, her eyes glinting as she suddenly laughed. "If you really could kill Yin–Yang Realm, crush Vajra, and slaughter Pointing-to-Mystery, why would you be here messing around with juniors like us?

Besides, as far as I know, there aren't many Pointing-to-Mystery masters out there. Given your age, even if you had the skill, where would you find someone at that realm to kill?

All these years, I've only heard of one person who managed to kill Morgan Yang—he's the only one in decades to actually take down a Pointing-to-Mystery master.

Don't tell me you're claiming to be Master Lin from Seacrest!"

As she said this, Rena Luo's smile grew even colder. She narrowed her eyes at Evan Lin and snorted, "Even if Master Lin from Seacrest showed up in person, there's no way he could kill people without any sign or aura! When a martial artist strikes, there's always force!"

"I won't pursue what happened today, whether you're bluffing or have something else in mind. Just don't set your sights on me."

"Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude!"

By the end, Rena Luo's face had turned completely cold.

Behind her, Gavin Luo and Clark Luo also fell silent, staring at Evan Lin with obvious wariness.

"Let's go."

Rena Luo called out. She'd planned to leave through the main entrance, but halfway there, she glanced at the spot where the old housekeeper and his group had vanished, hesitated, then decisively changed direction and left through a side exit instead.

Once Rena left, the crowd lost all interest and nerve.

No one dared look Evan Lin's way again. Instead, they hurried after Rena Luo and left.

In no time, the once bustling ski field felt empty, leaving only Queenie Tong standing by Evan Lin's side.

"Do you want to go over there and take a look?"

Evan Lin looked down the slope at that patch of 'man-eating' ground and asked softly.

There was a strange aura swirling there that made Evan Lin feel uneasy.

Earlier, when Evan released the water dragon and the little Blue-Flame Blood Python, he only meant to scare off the old housekeeper and his group—not to kill them outright.

But now, things seem to have gone beyond Evan's expectations—especially since, after finishing their task, the water dragon and Blue-Flame Blood Python haven't come back.
