Mutual Greetings

1/4/2026

Cecilia Gu finally realized she almost caused trouble, so she quickly followed Charles Yin's lead and added, "Yes, since Adrian has feelings for my sister, he surely wouldn't hurt her. And my sister would rather die than give in, so Adrian, worried about harming her, can't do anything drastic. At most, he might just keep her locked up somewhere so she can't escape. That's why we have to take advantage of this window and rescue her as soon as possible!"

Charles Yin finally relaxed and glanced at Cecilia Gu.

Cecilia Gu made a funny face at him.

Well, the couple finally found some common ground.

Eric Jiang listened to Cecilia Gu's words and was silent for a long time before saying to Charles Yin, "Charles, I still can't sleep. Will you have a drink with me?"

"Sure." Charles Yin nodded immediately, patted Cecilia Gu on the shoulder, and left with Eric Jiang to have a drink.

Right now, Eric Jiang really couldn't calm down on his own.

So, getting him drunk and letting him sleep soundly was the best option!

Otherwise, he'd really fall apart.

They'd just returned from the jungle a few days ago, and now something else had happened. How is anyone supposed to handle this?

Cecilia Gu didn't go with them. She sat alone in the courtyard, staring absentmindedly at the blooming flowers.

Her anxiety was no less than Eric Jiang's.

But as a woman, her intuition told her that Adrian probably wouldn't do anything to her sister for now.

But if too much time passed, who knows what could happen.

Who could have guessed Adrian was such a liar?

He even pretended to be sick!

He used that to get close to me and my sister, played on our sympathy, and blatantly tricked my sister away!

Absolutely infuriating!

If Grandma hadn't suddenly messaged me, I never would have guessed that Adrian was actually the High Priest we met in the tribal village!

But how did Grandma even know?

I thought I’d hidden everything so well, and we’re so far from Y Province—how did Grandma get the news?

Could it really be the Astrologer's divination?

Just as Cecilia Gu was lost in thought, she heard Max Mo's voice from behind: "Why are you sitting here daydreaming?"

Cecilia Gu turned around and saw Max Mo, looking travel-worn, returning with his people.

Cecilia Gu's eyes lit up. "Any news?"

"No," Max Mo shook his head. "There were no suspicious people at the airport or train station."

Cecilia Gu looked disappointed. "Looks like it really won't be easy to find them."

Max Mo whispered something to his assistant, who left. Then Max Mo sat down across from Cecilia Gu, poured himself a cup of tea, and drank it all in one go—he was clearly parched.

Seeing Max Mo drop everything to help with her and her sister’s troubles, Cecilia Gu felt both moved and guilty. "Max, thank you so much for everything."

"There you go again. Didn’t we agree not to be so formal?" Max Mo smiled helplessly, his light green eyes charming as ever. "Our families have always been close, past and present. Saying things like that just hurts our friendship."

"Oh," Cecilia Gu replied quietly.

Max Mo and Cecilia Gu sat together in silence for a moment.

"You’ve been running around for years—I’ve never seen you take a break," Cecilia Gu said. "Who’s looking after Leo and Theo now?"

"The house staff are all reliable," Max Mo replied. "The boys are well-behaved, too. In a few days, I’ll send them over—they should go to school with Yina and the others. The Yun Family’s education is something you can’t find anywhere else. Since we’re old friends, look after the kids for me, okay?"

"Of course," Cecilia Gu said at once. "If you trust me with Leo and Theo, I’ll make sure they’re well taken care of."

As soon as she said it, Cecilia Gu realized it sounded a bit ambiguous and quickly stopped herself.

Max Mo pretended not to notice, but the smile at the corner of his mouth couldn’t be hidden.

Even if those two boys weren’t his and Cecilia Gu’s, the fact that she was willing to care for them made her their foster mother.

In the future, if the boys honored Cecilia Gu a little more, that would be wonderful.

"Time really flies! In the blink of an eye, the kids are all grown up," Cecilia Gu said, deliberately changing the subject.

"Yeah," Max Mo said, rubbing his teacup. "Over the years, the Mo Family’s business focus has shifted outward, so I’ve been especially busy. There aren’t many people in the family who can take charge, so I have to worry about a lot of things."

He was explaining the earlier question.

He wasn’t completely obsessed when it came to Cecilia Gu, though he still felt some regret.

But she was always the most special.

"You can’t earn all the money in the world. Health is what matters most," Cecilia Gu couldn’t help but remind him.

"Alright," Max Mo replied with a smile.

As long as it was Cecilia Gu saying it, he’d always agree.

Whether in a past life or this one.

"By the way, I heard that amazing female lawyer by your side has become your right-hand woman?" Cecilia Gu asked casually, seeing someone walk by outside. "She seems pretty good."

"She’s alright. She’s very capable, so she attends most important events," Max Mo replied, not wanting to discuss other women with Cecilia Gu.

Cecilia Gu hesitated, wanting to say more but stopping herself.

She always thought Leo and Theo looked a bit like Julia Yu.

With Max Mo’s sharp mind, surely he’d noticed?

But since he didn’t want to talk about it, she didn’t push.

He probably had his own plans.

"How’s your health these past few years?" Cecilia Gu went quiet, but Max Mo changed the subject and asked, "When you gave birth to Yina, did it really take a toll on you?"

"It wasn’t that dramatic. But with my body, a third child is out of the question," Cecilia Gu laughed. "My sister keeps sending supplements. Our family’s herb fields grow medicinal plants every year, and they're all sent to me for nourishment. Now I have both a son and a daughter, and I’m content. People shouldn’t be too greedy."

"You’re right," Max Mo nodded. "I’m content too."

Just being able to sit and talk calmly with Cecilia Gu was enough for him.

"By the way, what were you muttering just now? I called you twice and you didn’t answer." Max Mo looked at Cecilia Gu, puzzled. "Did something happen?"

Cecilia Gu hesitated, but decided to share with Max Mo.

After all, he really wasn’t an outsider.

He knew about the Yun Family’s affairs too.

"I’ve kept my sister’s disappearance a secret, never let anyone outside know. But this morning, Grandma suddenly called me and said my sister isn’t in danger for now—the person’s real target is the next-generation astrologer of the Yun Family." Cecilia Gu said anxiously, "Who told Grandma about this?"

Max Mo was surprised and looked at Cecilia Gu. "Cecilia, have you ever learned about the Yun Family’s astrology?"

Cecilia Gu shook her head. "No, why?"

Max Mo was even more speechless.

"So much has happened over the years, and we haven’t needed astrology, so I never asked. My dad, me, my sister—we didn’t inherit the astrologer’s bloodline, and Grandma never talked to us about it. If we ever asked, she’d avoid the topic. Eventually, we stopped asking. It’s not like the old days, when astrology was a necessity. Now life is peaceful, so it’s been forgotten. Max, do you know something?"

Max Mo said, "I do know a little, but only from hearing elders talk about it sometimes."

Cecilia Gu nodded. "Looks like I know too little about the Yun Family’s astrologers."

Yeah. Grandma Yun rarely intervened all these years, so you never saw it and naturally forgot. But you should remember, when you were born, it was Grandma Yun who used divination to find out that you and Nora Yun’s destinies were intertwined with life and death, so she took you away—to fight for a chance at life.

Cecilia Gu nodded.

Those things happened so long ago, she almost forgot.

Hearing Max Mo mention this, she suddenly understood: "So, Grandma didn’t hear it from someone—she predicted it through astrology?"

Cecilia Gu gasped, "That’s amazing!"

Yeah, there are so many things in this world that can’t be explained." Max Mo smiled. "You and Nora Yun are miracles, aren’t you?"

Cecilia Gu nodded. "Grandma said the man kidnapped my sister to get the next-generation astrologer of the Yun Family. He’s got quite the appetite, daring to covet the Yun Family."

If he wasn’t bold, how could he dare kidnap Nora Yun?" Max Mo said lightly. "By the way, have you found out all of this man’s identities?"

We’ve already uncovered several of his aliases, but there could be more." Cecilia Gu said angrily. "I can’t believe he has so many identities. He’s not just the heir of a Mexican family—he’s also a royal prince and a High Priest of some sect. It’s ridiculous! Most people have three burrows, he’s got dozens of identities! Wait, I think I just realized something."

Cecilia Gu’s expression turned serious. She closed her eyes and tried to remember.

The figure of Adrian overlapped with the mysterious High Priest she met days ago in the Shadow Tribe.

Wait!

That High Priest wanted the souls of her and her sister. After failing, he let them go easily.

Adrian, Adrian!

Adrian!

First—the Shadow Tribe!

Cecilia Gu suddenly opened her eyes and stood up, her eyes wide.

Cecilia Gu’s reaction startled Max Mo. “Cecilia, what’s wrong?”

I know who he is! He’s the High Priest of the Shadow Tribe—it’s him!" Cecilia Gu blurted out. "He wants our family’s astrologer, but for what?"
