Adrian's Many Identities

1/4/2026

Max Mo was stunned by what Cecilia Gu said: "High Priest?"

Cecilia Gu clenched her fist and said, "This all started a few days ago. My sister suddenly received a packet of tea leaves and found that they could actually repair human genes. You know, I was hurt by those forbidden drugs. Although I’m fine now, when I get old, I’ll probably be plagued by illnesses or leave this world early. As soon as my sister saw that there was something out there that could repair human genes, she wouldn’t let it slip by. She immediately started asking around and went to the jungle, planning to transplant the tea tree and use it to fix my body every day."

Max Mo nodded, "That’s exactly what she would do."

"But it was all a scheme. That tea was deliberately sent to my sister to trick her into going there. If she went, I’d definitely follow. The target was me and my sister. The man claimed to be the High Priest of the Shadow Tribe—Adrian. He’s sinister, and can even absorb our soul power." Cecilia Gu took a hard gulp of water and continued, "But he failed! In our past lives, my sister and I were Zara Yun! When has General Yun ever been controlled by anyone?"

Max Mo touched the tip of his nose, looking embarrassed.

Apparently, in his past life, he’d threatened Zara Yun to make her his consort.

Sigh, best not to bring that up.

"Adrian’s first scheme failed, so he came up with another one—this time targeting my sister’s child!" Cecilia Gu snorted coldly. "He keeps saying that my sister’s rebirth was his doing, so now he’s here to collect interest."

"I can’t believe something like this happened." Max Mo’s brows furrowed instantly. "Adrian really is something."

"He’s definitely got skills," Cecilia Gu agreed. "So many aliases! Who knows what tricks he used—he’s got so many different identities walking around in this world."

"For ordinary people, impersonating them isn't difficult. What's impressive is that he took on so many identities, and each one was incredibly prestigious," Max Mo said. "No wonder he's got his sights set on the Yun Family astrologers. Maybe there really is some connection there."

"Whatever the connection is, we can't let him get away with it," Cecilia Gu said coldly. "The astrologers of our Yun Family won't become anyone's puppets."

Max Mo gazed steadily at Cecilia Gu, a faint smile playing at his lips.

Cecilia was really different now from how she used to be.

She'd matured a lot, become calmer, and taken on much more responsibility.

He liked seeing her change this way.

"Maybe what he said was half true, half false. Nora's rebirth could really be his doing," Max Mo said calmly. "After all, Nora's return was so unexpected."

Cecilia Gu didn't want to admit it, but she had to agree Max Mo made sense.

Her sister was reborn in Molly Yun's body—honestly, it was just too unbelievable.

But so what?

Even if Adrian really did give her sister another life, he can’t expect her sister’s child to make up for it, right?

Besides, nobody begged Adrian to resurrect Nora Yun, and his reasons for doing it were anything but pure.

"The less we know about this, the better," Max Mo said in a low voice. "Now that we know who he is and what he wants, it’ll be easier to act. I’ll have people search the whole city for Adrian’s photo!"

Cecilia Gu frowned. "I’m afraid this guy is way too slippery—he’s not easy to catch!"

"As long as he dares show his face in the city, we’ll find him for sure," Max Mo said firmly. "We’ve blocked off all the roads! Every camera’s been hacked—if he shows up, he won’t have anywhere to hide!"

Cecilia Gu let out a sigh. "Why is my sister’s life so hard? She finally came back, had just three years of peace, and now she’s dealing with all this crap again."

Actually, it wasn’t just Nora Yun—Cecilia Gu was the same, wasn’t she?

Maybe that’s just their fate.

Seeing Cecilia Gu complain, Max Mo couldn’t help but find her adorable.

To distract Cecilia Gu, Max Mo changed the subject: "What have Vice President Muir and Peter Pingshan been up to lately?"

Cecilia Gu sighed. "Don’t even mention it. Peter’s been obsessed with his experiments for a hundred years, and Nora’s gone wild—she won’t come back. I’m worried no one’s looking after Ziyue."

Max Mo chuckled. "Don’t worry about that. Vice President Muir’s parents are both famous professors, now retired at home. They’ll be happy to look after their grandson."

"That’s true," Cecilia Gu said helplessly. "Nora was complaining about fighting with Peter the other day, so she went out to have fun and now doesn’t want to come back. Whatever, let them play! Nora hasn’t had much free time these years. She was dragged into the company by Shang Ke before she even graduated, became vice president right after, and was always running around. Then she met Peter, rushed into marriage and having a kid, never got a break. Now that things are quiet, she should enjoy herself while she can."

"You’re really good to them," Max Mo said, looking at Cecilia Gu with soft eyes.

"They’re good to me, so of course I’m good to them," Cecilia replied matter-of-factly.

As they were talking, someone rushed in and stood before Cecilia Gu and Max Mo, reporting, "We’ve just confirmed another identity—he’s also a professor of classical Chinese studies at Guiting Private University. Unbelievable! A foreigner, and he’s a professor of Chinese classics at a private university!"

Cecilia Gu and Max Mo exchanged a look, both speechless at the news.

"No wonder he’s so knowledgeable about China," Cecilia sighed. "That’s how he won my sister’s admiration."

Max Mo could only give a wry smile.

Back then, he’d shown off his own talents plenty of times, but it hadn’t helped at all.

But now, he wasn’t that young man anymore—he’d come to terms with a lot.

"He’s only so bold because he’s got so many aliases," Cecilia Gu said through gritted teeth. "When we catch him, we need to give him a good beating first!"

Max Mo chuckled. "That can be arranged."

People kept coming to see Max Mo, and even though he wanted to stay and talk with Cecilia Gu a bit longer, he had no choice but to leave reluctantly.

Cecilia Gu was too worried about Molly Yun to notice anything strange about Max Mo.

That night, Cecilia Gu pushed aside all her worries and lay down to sleep.

She thought she’d be up all night, but as soon as her head hit the pillow, she was out.

In a daze, Cecilia looked up and saw a woman in red sitting on a huge boulder, polishing her weapon.

When Cecilia Gu looked closely, she instantly knew who it was.

Zara Yun.

Her past life.

"General Yun," Cecilia called out.

"You’re here," Zara Yun said, nodding as if she wasn’t surprised to see Cecilia.

"You wanted to see me?" Cecilia couldn’t help but ask.

Meeting your past and present self at the same time—honestly, it couldn’t get any more intense.

"I shouldn’t have appeared before you," Zara Yun said. "But someone used a forbidden technique to summon me back."

Zara Yun put down her weapon and walked toward Cecilia.

Even though it was just a dream, Cecilia could feel the aura of battle and power radiating from her—so strong it made you want to bow down.

Luckily, when Zara Yun stood in front of Cecilia, she reined in her aura.

"I don’t have much time, so I’ll keep this brief," Zara Yun said gently to Cecilia. "I thought there wouldn’t be many astrologers in this world, but it turns out there are people far away who know astrology too. And their astrology comes from the same lineage as the Yun Family’s."

Cecilia’s expression changed. "How could that be? They’re separated by so much time!"

Zara Yun smiled. "The Yun Family’s astrology has been passed down for thousands of years. Who knows where the very first astrologers came from? If our lineages weren’t related, I couldn’t have been summoned back. The fact that I’m standing here before you proves that the boy who used soul-summoning magic—his power is almost the same as the Yun Family’s astrology."

Suddenly, Cecilia understood why Adrian was so obsessed with having her sister bear him a child!

The same bloodline!

Pure blood!

No wonder Grandma knew!

So that’s how it is!

Maybe, thousands of years ago, the Yun Family’s ancestors walked out of that jungle and brought the tribe’s astrology to be passed down through generations.

"Some grudges are destined to be resolved," Zara Yun said to Cecilia. "What the Yun Family took back then, now it’s time to return it. Take care of yourself."

Cecilia was about to speak, but Zara Yun suddenly said, "I don’t have much time left. After this meeting, we probably won’t see each other again. Just remember one thing: stay true to yourself! The future of the Yun Family is up to you!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Zara Yun’s body started to fade and blur.

Cecilia panicked and tried to grab her.

There were so many questions she still wanted to ask!

Don’t go!

"Don’t go!" Molly Yun suddenly sat up in bed, face pale with shock.

She’d just had a dream.

In the dream, Zara Yun found her and told her that the Yun Family’s astrology and Adrian’s High Priest powers came from the same lineage!

How could this be?

Had Adrian known all along? Was that why he targeted her?

Molly Yun felt her heart was in complete chaos.

If that’s the reason, Adrian definitely won’t let her go easily!

But handing her child over to Adrian would be like tearing out her own heart!

No way. Absolutely not!

Someone at the door heard her scream and knocked. "Miss Yun, are you okay?"

Molly Yun calmed herself and decided to talk to Adrian and see how much he really knew.

"I want to see Adrian. Right now. Immediately!" Molly Yun said, leaving no room for argument.
