What Does 'Hmm' Even Mean

"Sophie Shang!" Bianca Whitefan chimed in from the side, "Come on, for the general's sake, do you really have to go this far?"

"I've already let you go because of the general! What more do you want?" Sophie Shang's face was cold.

Aren't you leaving yet?

With that, she turned to leave.

Grace was about to chase after her to argue, but Bianca Whitefan grabbed her, frowning and shaking her head. "Don't go after her! The more you push... the worse it might get."

They all knew about Sophie Shang's feelings for His Highness.

Grace gritted her teeth, feeling like she was about to explode from frustration.

They were so close to success, and now everything had fallen apart!

Just then, they heard the soldiers outside call out, "General!"

And then, Sophie Shang, who had already walked out, came back in.

Then, Evan Xiao walked in.

He was only wearing a deep blue woolen uniform, but he still exuded a chill and authority that no one else had.

Grace's eyes lit up, and she smiled at him happily.

Evan Xiao glanced at her face, but asked expressionlessly, "What's going on?"

"General, take a look at this." Sophie Shang handed him the Rune Talisman Bianca Whitefan had used. "I've followed regulations and stripped Jason Zhuo of his military rank for bringing them in."

Evan Xiao glanced at Jason Zhuo and said, "Mm."

Mm?

What the heck does "Mm" mean?

Grace stared at him, wide-eyed, wondering if this was a fake Evan Xiao.

Was this really the guy who used to hug her, chase her for kisses, and call her his little darling?

Sophie Shang glanced at Grace, whose expression had changed, and the corner of her mouth curled up slightly.

General Victor Zheng saw the general handling things this way, and immediately called out with impartial authority, "Jason Zhuo, come with me to process the transfer paperwork."

Jason Zhuo bowed to Evan Xiao with a gloomy look and prepared to leave.

Grace grabbed her brother and cried out, "Wait, General Evan Xiao, what do you mean by this? Leo Miles has already confessed—it was him who framed my brother!"

"Whose idea was this?" Evan Xiao interrupted her, holding up the Rune Talisman.

Grace: "...It was mine. I asked Bianca to help me. It has nothing to do with her. My brother had no idea about any of this."

Evan Xiao turned to Jason Zhuo, "Jason Zhuo, you really didn't know?"

Jason Zhuo said, "I was the one who brought them in. I'll take full responsibility! Please punish me, General. I have no objections."

"Answer my question honestly," Evan Xiao asked coldly.

Jason Zhuo was a principled officer and wouldn't hide the truth from his superior. He frowned and said, "I truly didn't know. My sister only told me they could help me find out the truth, so I brought them in as witnesses."

"In that case, you're stripped of your rank—go guard the supply depot!"

Jason Zhuo: "...Yes, sir."

"Ge-General!" Grace was anxious. "This has nothing to do with my brother, so why send him to guard the supply depot?"

"Just because he didn't know doesn't mean he's innocent," Evan Xiao asked sternly. "He brought you in without understanding your intentions—that was his mistake! If this were wartime, his actions could've gotten us all killed!"

"You—" Grace was furious. "Are we the enemy now? Spies? He trusted us because he knows we wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone—"

"Enough!" Evan Xiao interrupted her. "Since this is your first offense and nothing serious happened, just leave now! Don't let this happen again."

With that, he strode out.

Sophie Shang glanced at her, the corner of her mouth lifting slightly, and then followed him out.

"Grace, Miss Bianca, thank you. Don't worry about me—just head back." With that, Jason Zhuo went out to accept his punishment.
