Cold and Domineering

Grace stood there looking utterly dejected, unable to move for a long while.

Why does it feel like... after just a few days apart, Evan Xiao has changed his heart?

"Grace, let's go." Bianca Whitefan reached out to pull her away.

"Bianca, do you think... Evan Xiao has really changed?" Grace stared blankly. "Why does he seem so cold to me now?"

"Don't overthink it! That's definitely not the case," Bianca comforted her. "The General is the commander of all the troops—he has to follow military rules and can't break them, or how would anyone respect him?"

"But he actually stripped my brother Jason Zhuo of his rank as a fourth-grade officer, making him the lowest-ranked soldier and sending him to guard the supply depot!"

Grace had come to help Jason Zhuo.

But instead, she'd only made things worse.

Why did she feel like crying so much?

"There must be another way. Let's get out of here and try to talk to the General in private!"

Grace had no choice but to go with her, leaving the camp reluctantly, full of frustration.

Bianca Whitefan sighed as they walked: "Just our luck—why did we have to run into Sophie Shang today!"

Grace glanced at her and asked, "Weren't you two together? Even if she caught you, couldn't she show a little mercy?"

"Actually, I'm not that close to her," Bianca said. "We came together, but we haven't really interacted much."

"Not just not close, huh? I get the feeling you're actually kind of scared of her..." Grace said.

Bianca gave a little laugh.

Who wouldn't be a little scared of her?

Sophie Shang is a member of the Dragon Clan, and the daughter of Priestess Sun Drake—the Dragon High Priestess. Her status is sky-high.

And Bianca, though technically a princess, is still just a human.

Humans and gods—worlds apart.

"Are you really that scared of her?" Grace raised an eyebrow.

"Her cultivation is super high," Bianca replied. "Probably not much weaker than the Prime Minister himself."

She paused, then added, "And her personality... cold and bossy. She always wants everyone to do things her way. I'm not exactly scared of her—just not a fan."

Grace nodded. "Yeah, I don't like her either."

The two girls exchanged a smile.

"By the way, how did she find out? Did someone tip her off about what we were doing? Maybe your senior apprentice brother?"

Grace started to suspect Leon Zane.

"No!" Bianca waved her hand. "It's because she sensed Rune Power. I was already suppressing my Rune Power as much as I could, but she still noticed it."

"Rune Power? What's that?"

"Any magic talisman contains Rune Power. If you know what to look for, you can sense it."

"General Shang knows about this stuff too?"

"Actually... magic talismans are super popular where I'm from, especially in the military. Rune Masters and Spirit Alchemists are both highly respected," Bianca explained.

"Really?" Grace asked suspiciously. "Which county of the Vermilion Kingdom are you from?"

In her previous life, Grace had never heard of Rune Masters in the military.

To her, Rune Masters were mysterious figures from hidden sects, always shrouded in secrecy—she'd never seen one in real life.

So where exactly was Bianca talking about when she said 'super popular'?

"Uh? Well... we..." Bianca, unlike Leon Zane, was an honest girl, terrible at lying. Just as she was getting flustered, her eyes suddenly lit up: "The General's here!"

Grace turned to look—and sure enough, Evan Xiao was coming out of the camp gate.

"I'm outta here! You two chat!" Bianca, feeling like she'd just been pardoned, hurried to slip away.

"Wait!" Grace grabbed her. "I'm coming with you!"
