Rapid Escape

"What... what are you doing?" Jenna Chung demanded loudly, her voice sharp with alarm.

Ken Fu let out a cold laugh. "Heh, I'm about to give the Japanese a big surprise!"

"Oh my god, you activated the nuclear missile! Are you insane?" Jenna Chung finally realized what he was doing, her face turning pale with fear.

Ken Fu grinned conspiratorially. "Heh, it's nothing. I just entered an irreversible launch command and tweaked the missile's trajectory a bit. In half an hour, the nuke will launch. Who knows where it'll land? But I guarantee it won't get far, since I disabled several of its booster engines. After launch, it'll crash somewhere in Japan for sure..."

"Ah! Half an hour! You... you're absolutely crazy! How are we supposed to escape the blast radius in just thirty minutes? And what about my teammates? They haven't been rescued yet—what do we do?" Jenna Chung shouted, her voice trembling with panic.

"With so many enemies and the situation so critical, there's no time to worry about that! Completing the mission comes first!" Ken Fu snapped coldly.

Deep down, Ken Fu had no intention of letting so many people get out alive. This mission—he and Shawn Young had really struck a nerve with the Japanese, stirring up a huge grudge. Naturally, he didn't want them to find any clues, so he figured, why not go all the way and use a nuclear blast to wipe out all evidence? The Japanese were planning to test a nuke anyway; he just changed the coordinates a bit. As for where the missile would end up in half an hour, he honestly had no idea.

Just then, outside, the Japanese Self-Defense Force commandos switched tactics. A dozen of them advanced with heavy bulletproof shields, braving Jenna Chung's machine gun fire as they pressed forward, shooting back. Streams of gunfire swept across, forcing Jenna Chung to leap off the Humvee and take cover behind it, bullets pinging off the armored vehicle.

Luckily, this military Humvee had been specially armored—even the tires were explosion-proof, making it tough as nails. The barrage of bullets shattered the windshield and peppered the body with dents, but the steel plating held firm. Still, Sylvia Kim's advantage in firepower was lost in an instant.

"No more questions! We need to get out of here, now! We've got the intel—move! Move! Move!" Ken Fu barked, shouting at Jenna Chung and Shawn Young as he seized the moment to urge them on.
