Evan Yang knew these bugs were different from his own, and much tougher. Just judging by their hardness and unique abilities—they could even ignore spatial cracks and were immune to spells.
Chris Lee relied entirely on brute force, knocking them out and then using a special method to freeze them in place.
Once Chris finished, he came over to Evan Yang and smiled, "All done."
"What method did you use to freeze them just now?" Evan Yang didn’t think Chris’s technique was ice-based, so he was curious.
Sure enough, Chris laughed, "It’s bee glue. This glue is specially made to keep them from waking up and escaping after being knocked out. I always carry some, and just a little is enough to seal one bug."
"Bee glue?" Evan Yang didn’t know what that was, so he looked at Chris curiously. Chris grinned, "You can buy this glue in Ethereal Sanctuary. I still have some left—here, I’ll give you a bottle. One bottle is enough to seal over a thousand unconscious Void Shredder Bugs."
Evan Yang was stunned for a moment, then smiled, "Thanks."
"No need to be so polite, Senior Evan," Chris said with an awkward smile.
"Let’s keep going," said Evan Yang.
Chris nodded and walked with Evan Yang. After a while, they saw a group of bugs ahead. Chris stepped up to handle them as usual, while Evan Yang didn’t interfere and kept observing.
Chris handled the first few bugs easily, but the last one gave him trouble. It moved strangely and was the fastest bug Evan Yang had ever seen.
Just as Chris was about to be attacked, Evan Yang flashed forward, blasting the bug away with pure qi. Chris only heard a bang, and the bug was knocked aside—but it didn’t lose consciousness.
Chris stared at Evan Yang in surprise, not expecting Evan could knock them back without using his hands or feet.
The bug let out a series of piercing shrieks at Evan Yang. "What’s it doing?" Evan asked, puzzled.
Chris shook his head at first, but after seeing the situation unfold, he exclaimed, "I get it now."
"What’s going on?" Evan Yang asked, curious.
"It has the ability to summon its companions," Chris explained.
"Summon companions? It can do that?" Evan Yang asked, intrigued.
"That’s right. Some Void Shredder Bugs have this ability, so we call them leader bugs—they can command other bugs to attack," Chris explained.
"So that’s it. No wonder it’s so strange—it’s a unique leader among Void Shredder Bugs," Evan Yang muttered.
"Senior Evan, looks like it’s up to you. I’ve heard only eighth-tier experts can handle these leaders. I can’t do it," Chris said, knowing Evan could deal with top-ten eighth-tier opponents and had just shown a strange ability to blast these bugs away.
Evan Yang looked at the leader bug and the twenty or so bugs already gathered around. He wasn’t sure how many would come if this kept up, but he wasn’t worried and continued to wait. After a while, the number grew to forty or fifty. Chris grew anxious, "Senior Evan, hurry and deal with it, or even scarier bugs might show up."
"Could it attract bigger ones?" Evan Yang asked, curious.
"It’s happened before. Some cultivators wanted to gather more bugs, so they let the leader keep summoning—and ended up facing several giant Void Shredder Bugs," Chris said.
Evan Yang understood and floated forward—still pretending to be someone with broken limbs.
A formless aura appeared around Evan Yang—his refined qi, which he had long studied. He named it Windshadow Burst.
Evan had researched this qi to its limits. Windshadow Burst erupted like a storm, blasting all the Void Shredder Bugs around him away. Chris looked on in shock.
Evan Yang used it again, and after two bursts, the weaker bugs were knocked unconscious, floating in the void. The leader bug realized Evan was a powerhouse and tried to escape, but Evan easily caught it and tossed it into the Sky-Piercing Tower.
Then Evan turned to Chris and said, "Go collect the corpses."
Chris was overjoyed. He sealed each bug with bee glue, counted them, and found more than fifty—higher than his annual earnings.
But Chris knew these belonged to Evan Yang, so he hurried to hand them over. "Here."
"No need. You can have them," Evan Yang said.
"What?" Chris couldn’t believe it.
"I said you can have them. I don’t need them right now," Evan replied.
Chris was stunned, but after Evan urged him several times, he finally accepted. He felt like he’d just received a treasure—he’d never gotten so much before.
"Let’s go. We’ll keep moving," Evan Yang said, knowing Chris’s yearly income was low and wanting to help him. Evan wasn’t worried about missing out on points.
"Senior Evan, what about the leader bug?" Chris asked, curious.
"It’s in my Space Ring," Evan Yang said with a smile.
"Be careful. If it wakes up, it could even shatter your ring—these bugs can bite through space itself," Chris warned Evan.
Evan Yang paused, realizing he’d just tossed the bug in casually. He tried to take it out, but was shocked to see the bug merging with the Ancestor of Ten Thousand Insects inside his ring.
The bizarre scene startled Evan. He communicated with the Ancestor of Ten Thousand Insects—since it was bound to his blood. When the Ancestor assured him everything was fine, Evan relaxed.
Seeing Evan’s strange expression, Chris asked, "Senior Evan, is something wrong?"
Evan smiled, "No worries. I’ve sealed it." He didn’t explain further.
Hearing the leader bug was contained, Chris finally relaxed and continued searching with Evan.
Over several days, they found many Void Shredder Bugs—small, large, even giant ones. Evan gave them all to Chris, keeping none for himself.
Chris was deeply grateful. With these bugs, he could trade for enough points to make the top ten—something he’d never dreamed of, given his limited strength.

Evan Yang understood Chris’s hopes, but said nothing. Everyone in Ethereal Sanctuary wanted to make the top ten and leave that cruel place.
After about a month, Evan had cleared most of the outer area. Only the farthest regions remained, but he hadn’t gone there—Chris wasn’t strong enough for that, and Evan didn’t want to risk his safety. He also couldn’t break through his limits while looking after Chris. So he said, "I’m heading deeper in—it’s dangerous and there might be larvae. I’ll send you back first."
"You’re going deeper?" Chris understood what Evan meant—Evan didn’t want distractions, so he said this.
