Entering the Forbidden Territory

"Chaos World bandits? That's actually pretty rare." Evan Yang gave a bitter smile.

"They have their own reasons for robbing people. Everyone who comes out is at least close to the Heavenly Dao level. This time, seeing us riding a flying vessel, they probably think we can't fly on our own outside." Gavin White sighed.

"Just stay here. I'll go out and see what these bandits are up to." Evan Yang said with a smile, then had Gavin White open the hatch of the flying vessel and walked out himself.

Outside, five people stood in matching armor. Four held long spears, while the leader carried a long sword and grinned at Evan Yang. "Kid, if you know what's good for you, hand over all your valuables and we'll let you pass."

"You guys are surprisingly well-mannered bandits, dressed so uniformly." Evan Yang laughed at their appearance.

"What, you think I'm joking?" the sword-wielding man asked.

"Not really. I'm just curious. Chaos World is so big, and I happened to run into bandits—my luck must be incredible." Evan Yang teased.

"Kid, you seem pretty optimistic. But optimism aside, you still have to pay up. Otherwise, you'll end up with nothing—no money, no life."

"Oh? I'd actually like to see what 'no money, no life' looks like." Evan Yang smiled.

"Looks like you really don't know what's good for you. Fine, forget the rules. You four, kill him and take everything he's got. I'll wait up ahead." The sword-wielding man laughed, turned away, and left. The other four raised their spears and lunged at Evan Yang.

Their speed was astonishing, attacking from four directions at once. But since they hadn't reached the Heavenly Dao level, Evan Yang simply spun his Limitless Spear and knocked all four spears aside in an instant.

The four stared at Evan Yang in disbelief. Their combined spears could easily wipe out a peak God, yet Evan Yang was only an Immortal Sovereign—how did he do it? Their eyes finally locked onto his Limitless Spear.

Greed flashed in their eyes—they had to get their hands on that Limitless Spear. But wanting it was one thing; their strength was another. Soon enough, they were utterly defeated.

"You four still want to try?" Evan Yang smiled at the four of them, now floating above the Chaos Current.

"Damn it, you won't get away with this. You'd better let us go, or we'll beg our boss to spare you," one of them threatened.

Evan Yang turned and smiled at him. "Trying to bargain with me now? Looks like you still don't get the situation."

Evan Yang crippled the man's hand. The others watched in terror, not daring to utter a word. The sword-wielding leader, seeing that his men hadn't returned for a long time, grew curious and doubled back. When he saw Evan Yang had beaten the four into a miserable state, he shouted, "Stop right there!"

"So you finally showed up," Evan Yang said with a smile.

"Let them go!" the man demanded angrily when he saw the four beaten to a pulp.

"Let them go? Then you stay?" Evan Yang laughed.

"Arrogant fool! Watch how I teach you a lesson!" the sword-wielding man shouted. Evan Yang snorted, "Watch how I take down a bandit like you."

The two clashed above the Chaos Current. After several exchanges, the sword-wielding man realized Evan Yang wasn't as simple as he looked—in fact, he grew stronger the longer they fought. Sensing things were going south, he knew he had to escape soon.

The sword-wielding man sent a message to the other four, telling them to leave first. Then he locked onto Evan Yang and said, "Now it's just the two of us. We can have a real duel."

"Fine by me. How do you want to fight? Still using that big sword of yours?" Evan Yang laughed.

"Of course. This isn't an ordinary sword—it's the protective sword of us Forty-Eight Star Lords, a symbol of our status. Let me show you its true power." The man smiled, brandishing his sword.

Evan Yang eyed the sword, noticing a swirling vortex on the hilt. He wasn't sure what it was for, but he could sense that the faster it spun, the more terrifying the energy gathered in the blade.

"So your sword can instantly boost its power, huh?" Evan Yang laughed.

"Of course. And this is just one of many. Kid, surrender now, or you'll be dead in the next moment." The man sneered.

"Don't get too cocky. You think you're the only one with a sword? I've got one too." Evan Yang pulled out the Soul-Devouring Divine Sword and smiled.

"Just an ordinary sword? What's it going to do?" the other man laughed. Evan Yang chuckled, "Ordinary sword? If that's what you think, why don't you come over and see what it tastes like?"

"Bring it on." The other man sneered, then swung his sword at Evan Yang, gathering a massive force in the blade as if to obliterate him.

At that moment, Evan Yang gripped the Soul-Devouring Divine Sword, stepped back, then swung forward, clashing directly with the man's sword. Instantly, a soul-devouring power erupted.

The man was fine at first, but as he stared at the sword's tip, a wave of terror and soul-shaking fear washed over him. He muttered to himself, "Weird... Why does seeing his sword make me tremble?"

Seeing the man's reaction—even breaking out in a cold sweat—Evan Yang laughed, "So? How does it feel?"

"Damn it, how are you doing this?" He grew angrier as his soul trembled and his whole body weakened.

Evan Yang didn't expect the guy to be so clueless—he had no idea the sword could devour souls, and just kept pressing against it. Anyone else would've backed off long ago.

"I didn't do much. But you—maybe you should stop fighting and put that sword away." Evan Yang laughed, then spun behind him. While the man's soul was wounded, Evan pressed several points on his back, leaving him frozen in place.

"You... you..." The man was stunned, never expecting Evan Yang to be so terrifying.

"I told you, don't underestimate people. Now you know you were wrong, don't you?" Evan Yang snorted.

"You'd better let me go, or you'll never escape this area," the man warned.

"This area? What's so special about it? Isn't it just the Chaos World?" Evan Yang laughed.

"This is the Chaos World—our turf. If you want to leave, you need a pass. Otherwise, as soon as our people spot you, you'll be stopped." the man threatened.

"That's actually a good reminder. So, how do I get a pass?" Evan Yang laughed, surprised by this new complication.

"I don't have one, and I don't have the authority to give you one," the man replied, looking at Evan Yang.

"Then just tell me where I can get one." Evan Yang smiled.

"Let me go and I'll tell you." the man bargained. Evan Yang snorted, "Let you go? You're negotiating with me again? Fine, I'll lock you up and ask someone else. I'm sure you're not the only one who knows." Evan Yang laughed.

Sure enough, the man was frustrated by Evan Yang's words. "I'll just take you myself," he muttered.

"That's more like it. Let's go." Evan Yang took him along, with Gavin White's flying vessel following behind. Guided by the man, Evan Yang flew through the Chaos Current. Whenever patrols spotted them, they recognized the man and didn't stop them. Evan Yang laughed, "Turns out you're actually useful."

"I'm only useful here. If we go deeper, unless you have a token, no one can get in." the man said, frustrated.

"Then hurry up and take me to find one," Evan Yang laughed.

"I'm going right now," the man replied nervously, terrified Evan Yang might finish him off. He'd spent years cultivating, and soon he'd reach Heavenly Dao level.

Under Evan Yang's pressure, the man led him to a mountain—towering in the Chaos World, massive and imposing.

"This is the place. Inside lives someone who can give you a pass," the man said.

"Oh? Where exactly?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"See that vortex up ahead? Enter it, and you'll reach the interior and meet the person," the man explained.

"Really? There's actually a place like this? All right, let's go." Evan Yang laughed. Gavin White had already landed and planned to go in with him.

Sensing Gavin White's intimidating aura, the man grew frustrated but still held out hope. He stared at Evan Yang, waiting for them to enter the vortex.

Soon, all three entered the vortex. The instant they did, the man Evan Yang had bound vanished. Now, Evan Yang saw only Gavin White—no one else, and the vortex behind them was gone.

"Looks like we've been tricked," Evan Yang muttered.

"Not exactly tricked. Deeper in, I can sense an aura—and it's human. That person should have the pass. But I'm curious, did we really enter the infamous Cross Evil Army's territory in the Chaos World?" Gavin White wondered aloud.

"Cross Evil Army? What's that?" Evan Yang asked, intrigued.

"The Cross Evil Army—it's said to be a group of Heavenly Dao experts and wicked types who specifically target humans, building their own power. They recruit all sorts of oddballs, and every time they rob or kill, they leave a cross mark. That's why people call them the Cross Evil Army," Gavin White explained.

"Sounds interesting, but is the Cross Evil Army really as scary as they say?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"I don't know. I've only heard rumors. Some say even Heavenly Dao experts have fallen to them, becoming their puppets and working for them," Gavin White replied.

After hearing Gavin White's explanation, Evan Yang began to take the Cross Evil Army seriously. He frowned, "Didn't expect we'd end up here. If I'd known, we would've taken a detour and avoided running into the Cross Evil Army."

"It's too late for regrets now. Let's find whoever's here, and if possible, defeat them with everything we've got," Gavin White said, looking at Evan Yang with determination.
