Most Cherished Treasure

Cynthia Green screamed as she was shoved forward, about to collide with Sam Evans’s swinging club—only for the club to freeze abruptly in midair.

Sam Evans hastily dropped the club and caught Cynthia, his voice trembling with pain: "Sweetheart, Daddy found you! With me here, you don’t have to be afraid of anyone! That brute who bought you, he’s nothing—I’ll deal with him. Come home with Daddy, okay?"

As he spoke, Sam Evans hugged his daughter tightly, tears streaming down his face.

He refused to believe his daughter would say such shameful things or do anything disgraceful. It had to be because after being sold, she was beaten and bullied by her buyer, leaving her confused and afraid to speak of escape.

Sam Evans convinced himself that Cynthia was simply scared after being threatened for so long. As soon as she realized she was safe at home, she’d snap out of it.

Nestled in Sam Evans’s arms, Cynthia caught the familiar scent of her father and felt his strong, solid chest. For a fleeting moment, it was as if she’d returned to her childhood, when she loved to be coddled and carried around the village by her dad.

Those were such happy times—even if they didn’t have enough to eat or wear, the whole family was together, and that was enough.

But in the next instant, Cynthia snapped out of her memories. She looked up and saw Su Li and Alexander Hayes standing in the doorway, and hatred flared in her eyes.

She couldn’t forget—her father wasn’t the loving dad he used to be. Sam Evans didn’t care about her or her mother; only her mother, Mrs. Sun, truly cared for her in this world!

Suddenly, Cynthia shoved Sam Evans away, scrambled up, and ran to Jasper Cheng’s side. She glared coldly at Sam Evans: "Didn’t you hear me? I belong to the young master now. I’m not going home with you—there’s no home left for me in this world!"

"Lanxiang!" Su Sanyun looked at his daughter as if she were bewitched, the honest man's heart aching and at a loss.

Cuilan pulled Cheng Jin along, coldly brushing past Su Sanyun, her eyes glaring at Su Li with hatred as she hurried toward the door.

"Stop them," Su Li instructed Xinia.

Xinia nodded to the guards at the door, and immediately two guards rushed in. Seeing this, Cheng Jin screamed in fright and hid behind Cuilan.

Jasper Cheng’s face twisted with fear, but he still clung to Cynthia, refusing to let go.

Xenia, the manager of Moonlight Pavilion, stepped in. She signaled her staff, who quickly surrounded Jasper Cheng and Cynthia.

"Yes, Master," Xinia replied.

To prevent any struggle, Xinia used a sedative on Cuilan and Cheng Jin, then took them away.

Sam Evans watched helplessly as his daughter was taken away, his heart breaking anew. Tears streamed down his face, but he was powerless to stop them.

Alexander Hayes walked over and put a comforting hand on Sam Evans’s shoulder: "Don’t worry. Cynthia will be safe. We’ll do everything we can to bring her home."

Sam Evans wiped his tears and nodded, but his heart was heavy with worry.

"Third Uncle, go home first. I'll come by shortly," Su Li said.

Su Sanyun nodded, personally lifting the sleeping Cuilan into his arms. He held her as if she were his most precious treasure, gazing at her peaceful face. It felt as if he were back in the old days, carrying his young daughter home after she'd tired herself out playing and fallen asleep in his arms.
