Lovestruck Again
The news of Prince Ling's marriage alliance with Princess Mira caused quite a stir in the capital.
It was the first marriage alliance in the history between Chu and Jin, so of course it drew a lot of attention.
But as the bride at the center of it all, Princess Mira found herself less and less happy as the wedding approached.
Charles Chu's mood grew worse by the day. He'd been holding back, but ever since his last run-in with Alexander Hayes and Jade Evans, where a group of burly men left him with a humiliating injury, his temper had become explosive. Now, he pointed at Princess Mira and cursed her without restraint: "You can't do anything right! You're about to get married, so tell me—when you go to Ling Manor, what are you bringing as your dowry!?"
Princess Mira felt guilty. She'd been scolded plenty lately for losing her dowry and betrothal gifts.
After being scolded so much, Princess Mira grew thick-skinned and snapped back, "And you still have the nerve to lecture me? Jade Evans tricked me out of my dowry and betrothal gifts, but are you any better? Now everyone knows you fancy men, and you’re the bottom one! How is our royal family supposed to hold its head high? If Father and Mother find out I lost my dowry, do you think they’ll blame me for being a clueless girl, or you—the Crown Prince who was supposed to escort me!?"
Charles Chu was so furious at Princess Mira he could barely breathe. Losing the betrothal gifts was one thing—Chu could afford that—but losing the dowry? If people saw how shabby Princess Mira’s wedding was, it would be a disgrace to Chu.
A missing dowry on the wedding day would make Chu look utterly poor and humiliate the royal family.
The Emperor of Chu didn’t care how Princess Mira got tricked—he’d blame Charles Chu for everything.
Because of this, Charles Chu had been running around, spending his own money to put together a new dowry for his sister.
But in such a short time, and with princess-level specifications, where was he supposed to find so many palace-made items?
Charles Chu was so stressed over this that he broke out in mouth ulcers.
He spent a fortune to scrape together a halfway decent dowry, and it hurt him to the core. So every chance he got, he’d seize the opportunity to yell at Princess Mira.
But his clueless sister still talked back—and even poked at his sore spot!
He was absolutely livid!
Princess Mira, on the other hand, was completely unfazed. She even rolled her eyes and said, "If you’re so capable, why don’t you go marry Prince Leonard yourself? You can bring your own dowry!"
Charles Chu was so angry that he nearly fainted.
He’d never met anyone who could infuriate him as much as his own sister.
Princess Mira’s words weren’t just sharp—they were ruthless, and she delivered them with a sweet smile.
Charles Chu clutched his chest, feeling like he’d been stabbed by his own kin.
