We Can't Let Them Off Easily

Lily Evans looked at the Three Thousand Guards, all hanging their heads in disappointment, and smiled, "Don't be discouraged, everyone. It's perfectly normal that you can't beat the weapon in my hand. This is the most advanced weapon in the world—no flesh and blood or ordinary blade can stand against it. General Hayes has established the Firestorm Battalion precisely to train you in the use of these weapons. You've all witnessed their power. Now let me ask you: if, from now on, you were to abandon your sabers and spears and instead wield these firearms, would you be willing?"

As Lily spoke, she raised the gun high in her hand. The crowd stared at the weapon, recalling the scene where she killed the wolf. The men’s longing for firearms was instantly ignited.

As soldiers, how could they not yearn for more powerful equipment?

The Three Thousand Guards immediately unfastened the sabers at their waists and threw them to the ground, shouting in unison, "We’re willing! We’re willing!"

"Good!" Lily shouted. "From today onward, you are the elite of the Firestorm Battalion, and firearms will be your lifelong companions!"

Thinking of being able to use such powerful weapons in the future, everyone was brimming with excitement, eager to learn how to use them right away. The enthusiasm in the camp soared.

Over the next few days, Lily personally taught the Firestorm Battalion’s instructors how to use and maintain the firearms. Only after all the instructors had mastered them did she consider her mission complete.

"You’ve worked so hard, my dear." Alexander Hayes gently stroked Lily’s cheek, his face full of concern.

"It’s not that hard," Lily replied, holding Alexander’s hand. "Once the Firestorm Battalion is fully trained, we’ll have even more confidence. This little bit of exhaustion is nothing. Besides, we’re heading back to the capital tomorrow—I’ll finally get a good rest."

When Alexander Hayes and Lily set off on their return journey, the Three Thousand Guards spontaneously came to see them off. Everyone knew these powerful weapons were brought by the general’s wife—and it was she who taught them how to use them.

In their hearts, these soldiers were filled with admiration and awe for the general’s wife.

No wonder General Hayes doted on his wife so much—this seemingly delicate beauty was actually incredibly formidable.

Not only could she make money and send wine and meat to the soldiers to improve their lives, but she could also bring in such powerful weapons—and knew how to use them!

She truly was a woman who rivaled any man!

On the return journey, Alexander Hayes carried Lily Evans in his arms the whole way, steadily carrying her out of the deep mountains. Everyone dressed as ordinary peddlers and rode a small cargo boat back to the capital.

When they arrived in the capital, the whole city was abuzz with talk about the upcoming royal wedding between the Kingdom of Chu and the Kingdom of Jin, set for the Dragon Heads Raising Festival in a few days.

"Are you going to attend Prince Ling and Princess Mira’s wedding?" Back at the Prince of Qin’s Manor, Lily lounged comfortably beside Alexander.

"I couldn’t care less about their wedding," Alexander replied. "My dear, don’t forget how much trouble they caused at our own wedding."

Lily rolled over, recalling how, on her own wedding day, Zhao Yanchuan and Princess Mira had schemed to kidnap Lady Wang. Just thinking about it made her angry.

"No way. They sabotaged our wedding—now it’s their turn, and we can’t let them off so easily!" Lily pouted, looking every bit like a sulking, spoiled child.

Alexander gazed at his suddenly childish, adorable wife and doted on her. "Alright, whatever you plan, I’ll help you all the way."

Lily blinked mischievously. "One of my students has a relative who once treated Princess Mira. Turns out, she’s got Lovestruck Syndrome—whenever she sees you or Jade Evans, she loses control and embarrasses herself... So why don’t we use her little problem to our advantage, and do this, and that..."
