In front of the gate of Brightsea No. 2 High School, the campus faces a street directly.
If you walk down this street a bit further, you'll reach the apartment complex where Lily Zhong lives.
Right now, a white van was parked on the street ahead. Its door was open, and five men in leather jackets stood in front of it.
They wore sunglasses and had tattoos on their arms—one look and you could tell they were trouble.
"Jack Zhang, where's that kid who roughed you up?" The lead guy, with a stud in his ear, glanced toward Brightsea No. 2 High.
School had just let out, so a steady stream of students was walking out the gate—especially the girls in short skirts, who always drew plenty of attention.
"Chill, Jace. School just let out. Give it a minute and he'll show up for sure."
"Besides, that kid is at Lily Zhong's place for tutoring right now. He has to walk down this street sooner or later." Jack Zhang, a bandage still wrapped around his head, looked a bit dumb and pitiful.
Yesterday, after being tossed down the stairs by Evan Lin several times, Jack Zhang's head was still throbbing with pain—he hadn't slept well all night.
Jack Zhang had been humiliated by Evan Lin, and his hatred ran deep.
"Back in school, you used to be pretty tough, Jack. What happened? How'd you get beat up by a high school kid? Did being a teacher make you soft?" Jace shot Jack a mocking look.
He and Jack Zhang had been classmates at sports school. After graduation, Jack got into Brightsea No. 2 High thanks to family connections, while Jace had to rely on himself and ended up mixing on the streets.
"Bullshit. That kid's got something weird about him. He looks skinny, but he's crazy strong. Jace, don't underestimate him—he's got a crew too. Better keep your guard up."
Thinking of Evan Lin, Jack Zhang's palm still ached faintly, and his eyes flashed with resentment.
"Whatever, Jack. You're just scared because you got bitten once—now you won't go near the well for ten years. What high school kid could possibly be that scary? I'm with Big Z's crew here, and this whole area around Brightsea No. 2 High is under Big Z's protection. Never heard of any student being that badass." Jace looked at Jack with obvious disdain.
"Big Z's boss is Yu Wei, you know that, right?" Jace said, acting all arrogant.
"Yu Wei? Which Yu Wei?" Jack Zhang asked, a little confused.
"Yu Wei, second-in-command at the Imperial Grand KTV. Other than the mysterious boss, Yu Wei's the biggest name there."
"This whole area around Brightsea No. 2 High is under Yu Wei's control. You didn't know?" Jace raised his chin proudly.
"Imperial Grand KTV!" Jack Zhang's face changed instantly at hearing that, and he couldn't help blurting out, "Jace, so you're working for Yu Wei now?"
Evan thought, If I wasn’t worried about making a scene and messing up Lily’s job at school, I’d have broken a leg on each of them.
She’s probably scared out of her mind.
Evan felt a bit guilty at the thought.
"You done touching me yet?" Lily frowned. Evan froze.
"Sorry, totally spaced out." Evan quickly pulled his hand away from her waist.
So soft.
That was Evan’s impression.
He glanced at Lily and saw her cheeks flushed bright red.
