Outside the classroom, the quiet hallway.
Mr. Zheng sized Evan Lin up and down, scrutinizing him carefully.
He wasn’t as tall as Evan.
"Evan Lin, tell me: what exactly happened out on the soccer field today?" Mr. Zheng's tone was stern, his gaze fierce and his words a little rushed.
"I beat him up." Evan yawned, his tone flat.
"You beat him up? How could you hit Victor Feng so hard that he got hurt like that, huh?" Mr. Zheng's voice rose, his anger barely contained as he glared at Evan. "More than one student told me you caused Victor's injury. Tell me—how did you do it?"
Mr. Zheng walked back and forth beside Evan, hands behind his back, his eyes fixed on Evan with a harsh stare.
"With my fist. I twisted it a little." Evan nodded, looking at Mr. Zheng in front of him.
"I'm asking how you managed to hurt him that badly! Do you think I'm a three-year-old? You twisted him and that made his leg look like that?" Mr. Zheng's voice shot up, practically shouting at Evan.
"You think you're that strong? Huh! You think I'm stupid? You think I'd believe that?" Mr. Zheng was practically yelling now, feeling like Evan was insulting his intelligence.
Even the doctors said that kind of injury was almost impossible to be caused by a person—it was most likely done by a machine. And now Evan was actually saying he just twisted it?
Mr. Zheng felt that if he really believed Evan's nonsense, all the years he'd lived would have been for nothing.
Evan kept silent, feeling helpless inside.
If you won't believe the truth, how is anyone supposed to explain?
"Not talking now? Hm?" Mr. Zheng took a deep breath. "Evan Lin, you didn't get into this school on your own merit—you know that, right?"
Evan nodded. Back then, to get Charles Chen to help him transfer into the school, Joy Zheng had begged for a long time before Charles finally agreed.
Charles Chen had some connections with the director of the Education Bureau, which is how Evan managed to get into Brightsea No. 2 High School against the rules.
This was something Evan had buried deep in his heart—he had never forgotten it.
"Still nodding, huh?" Mr. Zheng pointed at Evan. "If it weren’t for Manager Chen, I never would’ve let you into my class. You’re no good at studying, your grades never go up, and you don’t even try. I won’t say more about that."
"I used to think you were useless at everything, and a little shy and introverted, but at least you were well-behaved and didn’t cause trouble. But now—I think I was wrong." Mr. Zheng paced, his eyes on Evan growing more and more displeased.
"You’re getting more and more unruly. Are you just not planning to tell me the truth? Your mom spent money and pulled strings to get you here—was it so you could just mess around? Is this how you repay her?"
"Fine, I won’t say anything more. I’ll call Manager Chen in a bit and have a good talk with him. As for you—if you don’t want to study, you might as well go home early instead of wasting time at school." Mr. Zheng waved his hand, no longer wanting to argue, and turned to leave.
"Hey."
Mr. Zheng had just taken a step when he heard Evan’s voice. The veins on his forehead bulged as he spun around and glared at Evan. "I’m your teacher! How can you address me like that? Is this how you were taught?"
"You don’t believe me? Then I’ll show you—just like this." Evan sneered, his eyes turning cold.
He didn’t give Mr. Zheng any time to react. Evan stepped forward, grabbed Mr. Zheng’s shoulder with one hand, then hooked his leg with his right foot. Caught off guard, Mr. Zheng lost his balance and was about to fall, crying out in surprise.
Evan had already grabbed his right leg with one hand. His face was expressionless as he applied force.
"Ah!"
Mr. Zheng’s eyes widened. The intense pain twisted his whole face, and under Evan’s grip, his leg was completely deformed—on the outside, it looked like a rope twisted around itself.
"See that?" Evan pressed Mr. Zheng’s head down toward his leg. Mr. Zheng was in so much pain he couldn’t even speak.
Then Evan twisted his hand the other way. The previously deformed bones snapped and crackled, and within seconds, under Evan’s grip, his leg returned to normal—as if nothing had ever happened.
Evan let go. Mr. Zheng, drenched in cold sweat, collapsed onto the floor. "You!"
He stared at Evan, then at his own leg, trying to move it. Aside from the lingering pain, it was as if nothing had ever happened!
"Believe me now? If not, I can keep showing you." Evan crouched down, expressionless, grabbing Mr. Zheng’s collar. "Also, let me tell you something: nobody can use grades to define someone’s future. Grades aren’t everything. If you, as a teacher, can’t even grasp this basic fact, what kind of teacher are you?"
Once Evan let go and Mr. Zheng finally processed what happened, he scrambled away in panic toward his office.
Evan watched Mr. Zheng’s retreating back, touching his nose. "If you won’t believe the truth, who’s to blame?"
Evan shook his head. Mr. Zheng would probably go complain, and Charles Chen might scold him later, but with Evan’s current mindset, none of it really bothered him.
With Mr. Zheng gone, Evan was about to go pack up his things when he turned and saw Mia Chen standing behind him.
Mia Chen frowned, staring at Evan, her tone blunt: "How did Victor Feng get hurt?"
"I twisted it." Evan replied calmly, his face indifferent.
"Evan Lin! You’re hopeless! Still won’t tell the truth at a time like this!" Mia Chen glared, shouting at Evan with obvious disgust before turning and walking away.
"So annoying." Evan muttered as he watched Mia leave.
Several Class 7 soccer players nearby looked at Evan with cold, mocking smiles.

Most likely, this Evan Lin wouldn’t last long at school.
After packing up, Evan left the classroom building and ran into Lily Zhong waiting for him downstairs.
"Why are you so late today? I’ve been waiting ten minutes—I thought you’d ditched me." Lily Zhong smiled at Evan, giving him a once-over.
"How could I dare run? Just ran into a little trouble." Evan grinned at Lily Zhong.
Lily hadn’t had Class 7 today, so she hadn’t seen Evan all day. She wore a black top that accentuated her chest, a white short skirt, and high heels. As she walked, her figure swayed with a unique charm.
"What happened today? I just saw Mr. Zheng—he looked like he was in a terrible mood. Did someone from your class upset him again?" Lily asked curiously as they walked.
Lily Zhong’s looks and figure were top-tier. Compared to many other female teachers at school, she was much taller and younger.
As they walked toward the school gate, plenty of male students couldn’t help sneaking extra glances at Lily—and shot Evan looks of envy or jealousy.
While talking, Lily unconsciously edged closer to Evan, a faint, elegant fragrance drifting to his nose.
"Victor Feng got hurt playing soccer. He’s in the hospital now." Evan didn’t want to explain further.
"Victor Feng? Your class’s PE rep? He really wasn’t careful." Lily nodded, seeing Evan didn’t want to talk, so she naturally dropped the subject.
Walking beside Evan, Lily couldn’t help secretly studying the boy next to her out of the corner of her eye.
His face wasn’t especially handsome, his hair unstyled, wearing an old T-shirt and faded jeans, with a pair of obviously worn-out sneakers.
Evan’s expression was calm, as if nothing could bother him. The occasional flash of indifference in his eyes made Lily’s heart race.
"How did I never notice he was different before? He’s not tall, but somehow he gives off a sense of steadiness."
Lily muttered inwardly, while her rational mind warned her to look away and banish any inappropriate thoughts.
Yet Lily found herself growing curious about Evan.
Whether it was Evan chasing away Jack Zhang twice, or his calm, distant demeanor, Lily felt something different about him.
"So many people chasing after me, but hardly anyone gives me this feeling."
"Why is that, I wonder?"
Lily muttered to herself, but then noticed Evan had stopped, looking at her with a half-smile.
"Oh no, he noticed!"
Lily’s heart skipped a beat, a nervous flutter making her chest rise and fall more noticeably.
"Teacher, we might have a bit of trouble ahead," Evan said.
Lily was startled by Evan’s words. She turned to look and saw a group of people standing ahead.
Lily’s face changed.
