Yannette Hui's gaze fell upon the calm and steady Wrathroot Root beneath Joe Di's feet. A flash of shock passed through her eyes before she quickly suppressed it. With a look of guilt, she said to Joe Di, "Daoist Joe, thank you for rescuing the two of us. If not for you, neither I nor Moria Lane would have survived. I, Yannette Hui, will forever remember this debt of life-saving grace."
Joe Di cupped his fists and replied, "Senior, you overstate it. Moria Lane and I became friends through adversity; she once saved me as well. This time, I was simply fortunate enough to be here."
"Brother Joe..." Moria Lane had countless words she wished to say to Joe Di, but never had the chance. Heaven has finally shown mercy—this time, she was able to see Joe Di again.
If she could choose, she would never walk alongside Ancestor Yannette Hui, but would rather journey with Joe Di. Yet no matter what, she could never bring herself to say such words—unless Joe Di or Yannette Hui brought it up first. Yannette Hui would certainly never suggest it, but if Joe Di did, she would find any excuse possible to make it happen and follow him.
She had just spoken three words when Yannette Hui cut her off, turning again to Joe Di and saying, "Daoist Joe, Moria Lane and I have urgent matters to attend to. We entered here by mistake, and were fortunate to be saved by you. Is there anything you need our help with?"
Joe Di was taken aback and subconsciously replied, "No, I don't need any help from you, Senior."
A look of guilt flickered across Yannette Hui's face. "Back at Grand Cauldron Freedom Immortal City, I left rather hastily..."
Joe Di waved his hand. "What's past is past. Moria Lane and I are friends—there's nothing to blame."
Yannette Hui looked even more apologetic. "Then, Daoist Joe, Moria Lane and I will take our leave. If I have the chance in the future, I will personally come to Grand Cauldron Freedom Immortal City to thank you."
With that, Yannette Hui pulled the somewhat dazed Moria Lane along, gave Joe Di another cupped-fist salute, and quickly departed.
The impression she gave was that she couldn't face Joe Di any longer and had to leave quickly. Joe Di could also sense that Yannette Hui was eager to go, likely too embarrassed to say much more to him.
"Ancestor, I still have some things to say to Brother Joe..." Moria Lane barely got halfway through her sentence before Yannette Hui pulled her away.
Joe Di stared blankly at Moria Lane as she was taken away, frowning slightly. He felt that Yannette Hui was being a bit too domineering.
But then he thought of the relationship between Moria Lane and Yannette Hui and could only shake his head in silence. They were ancestor and last gifted disciple of Puregate Sect—practically family. He and Moria Lane were merely friends, so what right did he have to interfere with Yannette Hui's domineering behavior?
......
Perhaps because Yannette Hui knew Joe Di was friends with both her and Moria Lane, their departure was smooth and without incident.
When Joe Di entered, he was still surveying the spatial rule fluctuations around him, while Yannette Hui was simply fleeing as fast as possible. So it took her less than half an hour to break out of Wrathwood.
"Ancestor..." As soon as they exited Wrathwood, Moria Lane looked at Yannette Hui with grievance, and the tears she had been holding back finally fell in streams.
If there was a happiest period in her life, it was the days spent with Joe Di, Sprout, and Blackfire.
During that time, she was carefree, without any worries, and could feel the love and care from everyone around her.
But ever since she met her ancestor in Grand Cauldron Freedom Immortal City, everything changed. She was forced to cultivate frantically, to accept the ancestor's Dao teachings, and to travel everywhere with her in search of cultivation resources...
She didn't even have time to pause and reflect on why she was doing all this. Her only moments of nostalgia came during brief periods of clarity in seclusion—thinking of Blackfire and Sprout, of Arlo, of Joe Di risking his life for her...
Now, after finally seeing Joe Di again, her ancestor didn't even give her a chance to speak.
Yannette Hui summoned a flying vessel, brought Moria Lane aboard, and only after they had flown a distance did she let out a sigh. "Moria, do you blame me for dragging you away so hastily?"
Moria Lane lowered her head, not answering. In truth, if she could, she would rather leave her ancestor and return to Joe Di's side.
Yannette Hui sighed, "If I hadn't left quickly, Joe Di might have killed us both. And he could have done it—I admit I underestimated him before."
Moria Lane suddenly looked up, tears still in her eyes, and shook her head firmly. "Ancestor, Brother Joe isn't like that. He would never kill us."
Yannette Hui gazed calmly at Moria Lane. "Moria, you should know why we went to Wrathwood, right? We knew there was a weak node there—entering through it would lead us to Voidmount. Voidmount is rumored to be a treasure from the dawn of creation, filled with endless resources that far surpass those of the Immortal Realm..."
"But so what?" Moria Lane couldn't understand what her ancestor meant.
Yannette Hui snorted coldly. "Joe Di went to the same place, which clearly means he knows about Voidmount too. He's searching for it. Think about it—if he guessed that we were after Voidmount as well, or even learned its secret, would he let us live? Don't mention the Rainbow Immortal Peach; compared to Voidmount, its value is like a drop of water to the ocean—countless times smaller."
Moria Lane stared at her ancestor in disbelief, mouth agape. She absolutely could not believe Joe Di was that kind of person. Not just Voidmount—even if it were something more precious than Voidmount, Joe Di would never do such a thing. Her ancestor said this only because she didn't truly understand Joe Di.
Yannette Hui said calmly, "I know what you mean. But how could someone as young as Joe Di dare to disregard the top experts of Grand Cauldron Freedom Immortal City? The only possibility is that he is extremely cunning. He has eliminated many who thought he was harmless, collecting the finest cultivation resources and treasures..."

"No, Ancestor..." Moria Lane couldn't bear to hear anyone slander Joe Di.
Yannette Hui sighed and looked at Moria Lane with affection. "Moria, you don't understand. Every powerful cultivator stands atop a pile of corpses, built on endless blood and tears. Otherwise, how could he gain more resources than others? Just look at the Wrathroot Root in Wrathwood and its attitude toward Joe Di—you can see how forceful he is."
Wrathroot, which devours everything, even acts meekly around Joe Di. That shows how ruthless he is. I once thought Joe Di was doomed, but not only did he survive, his cultivation far surpassed what it was back then. Do you know why?"
Moria Lane said nothing more. She knew that no matter what she said, she couldn't change her ancestor's view of Joe Di. Since she couldn't change it, she wouldn't try. As long as she herself never changed how she felt about Joe Di, that was enough. Some people are truly unique. To Moria Lane, Joe Di was that one-of-a-kind cultivator.
Her ancestor's words might be true for most cultivators, but they absolutely didn't apply to Brother Joe. The cultivation resources Brother Joe sought were always earned through his own hard work, not the way her ancestor imagined.
......
Once again, Joe Di surveyed the surrounding spatial rules, letting his divine sense slowly seep into this stretch of void.
Joe Di sketched out array flags formed by laws, and one after another, he laid down grand arrays of spatial rules.
In just three days, Joe Di found the location of the weak node. The spot he discovered was almost exactly the same as the one provided by Andrew King.
If Blackfire, now a ninth-rank immortal fiend beast, came to such a place, he could easily tear it open.
Joe Di didn't possess Blackfire's innate ability, but tearing open this void wouldn't take much effort for him either.
After leaving some marks, Joe Di gathered his immortal essence, his hands infused with the rhythm of laws. With a split motion, he tore open a void rift three feet long and one foot wide.
Endless profound Dao rhythm swept in with countless void blade beams. Joe Di stretched his figure and charged straight into the rift.
(Good night, friends!)
