Devouring the Dark Miasma

1/19/2026

Evan Chu never expected that this dark monster could actually cast a Dark Abyss Domain. In this kind of situation, it's seriously dangerous. Maybe he could barely withstand the Dark Abyss Domain's pressure, but Goldwing and Shadow were another matter—especially Goldwing, whose defense wasn't all that strong. Evan was worried he wouldn't be able to endure the crushing force of the domain.

"Goldwing, Shadow, get out of here—leave this guy to me!" Evan urgently transmitted to them.

Goldwing and Shadow could tell from Evan's tone that things had gotten dangerous. Both were smart enough to immediately retreat. If flying were possible here, Goldwing's speed could easily ignore any domain.

A flash of golden light could break through any domain, but now that ability was useless—a hero with nowhere to use his strength. All they could do was hope Evan would come out of this safe and kill the enemy.

The two of them had barely run a hundred meters when a crushing pressure slammed into Evan's body. He could still resist it, but moving was incredibly difficult.

If the enemy attacked him directly now, there was no way he could dodge. He could only blame himself for never having the chance to cultivate any dark transformation art; if he'd mastered dark element attributes, he could crack this Dark Abyss Domain with ease.

"Kid, how's the taste of my Dark Abyss Domain? Now I'll add some seasoning, so you can see what a real domain is!" the dark monster snarled.

Evan watched as a mass of black mist appeared inside the Dark Abyss Domain—this was dark miasma. The whole space was already pitch-black, but this dark miasma was even darker, like ink. Evan knew it had to be insanely corrosive.

"Damn it! Looks like I've really crashed hard today—gotta find a way to destroy this black mist." Evan cursed to himself.

The mass of black mist shot toward Evan. If it managed to surround him, the consequences would be dire. Evan reacted instantly, layering Earthshift on his body, then Fireshift, cloaking himself in thick stone armor and raging flames.

The black mist instantly reached Evan, but thanks to the flames cloaking his body, it couldn't get close. Instead, the mist gradually weakened, but the cost was massive—Evan's Fire element was burning up fast, and he couldn't afford to keep this up for long.

Soon, the black mist completely surrounded Evan, but it still couldn't touch him—any time it got close, the Heavenfire burned it to nothing. Even the dark monster was shocked by this.

He hadn't expected this human to have such powerful flames—totally outside his calculations. So he unleashed another mass of dark miasma, determined to finish Evan off. He wanted to see how long Evan's fire could last.

When Evan saw another wave of black mist appear, his face went green. His Fire element was dropping fast—at best, he could burn away the current mist, but the next wave would be beyond his ability to handle. He couldn't help but grow anxious.

"What now? What now?" He frantically searched for a way out. If this kept up, he'd be corroded by the dark miasma—no need to even imagine how bad that ending would be.

Another wave of black mist soon reached him, and the previous one wasn't even gone yet. He had to find a breakthrough, and right now, more than ever, he needed to stay calm—only calm thinking could solve a crisis like this.

"To hell with it!" Evan steeled himself and unleashed his divine sense, ready to try communicating with the dark element. It was insanely hard, but he had no other choice.

The space was packed with dark particles—his divine sense could touch them, but actually communicating was nearly impossible. Worse, the dark particles could even corrode his divine sense, making things go from bad to worse.

Evan's Fire element was running low, and the black mist kept creeping closer. The corrosion to his divine sense was a real blow to his mind, but right now, he couldn't afford to worry about that.

His Fire element was almost gone—he had to stop. Using Chaos Immortal Force to recover was impossible right now; the only thing he could rely on was his earth-stone defense.

Soon, Evan was completely surrounded by the black mist. Luckily, his Earthshift had reached the second layer, and his defense was formidable. The black mist's corrosion was intense, but for now, it couldn't break through.

Just when Evan was feeling truly helpless, his Immortal Infant spoke up in his mind: "The dark element is insanely corrosive, but it also has powerful devouring properties. If you can comprehend devouring, you can restrain corrosion—the two go hand in hand, you need both."

"You already mastered the Star-Siphon Method—devouring is basically the same principle. If you can grasp devouring, you can neutralize the dark miasma."

"Devour the dark miasma?" Evan blurted out in shock. Wasn't that just asking for death? The corrosion was so intense, and now he was supposed to absorb it? But then he remembered that when he mastered the Star-Siphon Method, he'd already grasped devouring—it wasn't actually that complicated.

Devouring was Shadow's specialty, but the corrosion of the dark miasma was way too fierce—there was no way he could let Shadow try it. If he got corroded down to just bones, that'd be the end.

Evan trusted his Immortal Infant had a reason for this advice—maybe if he absorbed the dark miasma, he'd be able to comprehend its corrosive nature. Only by truly experiencing corrosion could he master its properties.

Right now, his divine sense couldn't communicate with the element, but Evan decided to gamble. Still, he hesitated, torn between risk and hope.

His earth-stone defense was being corroded away fast. If he kept using Earthshift, his earth element would run dry. That wasn't a solution. Summoning his Golden Body avatar wouldn't work either—in this Dark Abyss Domain, even the Golden Body couldn't move, and the pressure would just make things worse.

Gritting his teeth, Evan focused his mind and activated the Star-Siphon Method. Instantly, the dark miasma was sucked into his body—within a few breaths, he'd absorbed it all.

But now, Evan was wracked with unimaginable pain—his meridians were immediately corroded, and his muscles began to rot away. They didn't vanish all at once, but plenty of places were stripped down to bare bone.

That was just one side of his body—the other side was perfectly fine. Right now, a mass of dark miasma was raging in his dantian, tearing his body apart.

The pain was intense, but Evan gritted his teeth and hung on. As soon as the dark miasma entered his body, his other elements sprang to life, like old friends reunited—suddenly, his dantian was crowded with all kinds of energies...
